Hello everybody! We have tons of new awards for the new year that can be requested through our Awards System thanks to Antifa Lockhart! Some are limited-time awards so go claim them before they are gone forever...
Well, Nomura did say that MOM was not the "Kairi game" everyone thought it was. After seeing the cutscenes, I have a mixed reaction. On one hand, I love the idea of Kairi training under Aqua - this at least guarantees that Kairi will be packaged with a mega popular character and also a trio that has some current ongoing storyline (Ven/KHUX). It also means that Kairi will get to interact with TAV, so that will be something fresh. On the other hand, it would have been extremely easy to say that Kairi was fully trained and have her go with Riku to be playable in KH3D2.
The way they stopped Kairi from joining him was... weird. Like it makes sense, but I don't get why Kairi is the character that always has to acknowledge lack of training or be told that "maybe it's not a good idea" to go unprepared, yet all the other characters do crazy things just fine (like Ven running off after Terra or Sora jumping into the Realm of Darkness). On top of it all, she was confirmed (I guess she isn't now) as fully trained in KH3. How much more training does she need? Wouldn't going on an adventure help her improve? I mean - I get it, no one knows what Quadratum is or how dangerous it is, but it's OK for Riku to go alone versus having Kairi (I guess "semi-trained") go with him? My point is, Nomura had the opportunity to say "Kairi is fully trained now" and have her go with Riku, but went out of his way to pull the plug on that - which is what gets me down. Even Master Xehanort acknowledged her improvement. Then Riku denies her (or she denied herself?)
With all that out of the way, does anyone think it's possible to see an Aqua/Kairi game? I would be OK with this IF Riku gets his game and Aqua/Kairi get their game. I feel like shoving Kairi back into "training" is a step back for her UNLESS we actually get to play and see the training. At this point, it feels like Nomura is trying to pull her back from the main plot because she's "served her purpose" which was basically regurgitating something Terranort said. I'm not sure how else she can be added back into the mix UNLESS NOMURA ACTUALLY LETS HER JOIN THE FIGHT BESIDE SORA AND RIKU LIKE SHE SAID.
