I doubt MF is Vanitas also, i still think it has something to do with AtW/MX's nobody or Terranort's Nobody.
This is just something to speculate about. MF being Vanitas would be disappointing to me ):

I don't think secret bosses are part of the storyline. If they were, almost nobody but the Japanese would understand.

Also, it is not even in the slightest proven that the weapons the MF uses are even ethereal blades. Ethereal blades don't have handles (as seen with Xemnas), the weapons of the MF have handles though and behave quite different than the ethereal blades.
While that may all be true, we have no evidence of ethereal blades being related to keyblade wielders, it's nothing but an assumption.
Vanitas being the MF is also pretty farfetched alone when looking at the MF's battle style and height. The MF is very clearly a grown adult, Vanitas has the form of a teenager and unless he also gained Ienzo's illusion powers it wouldn't match. *ggg*
Most extra scenes (and secret bosses) in Final Mixes count. The chambers of Waking and Repose, Lingering Sentiment etc. were all introduced in FM and are completely canon to the overall story.
If the question of canonity for the whole overaching plot is concerned the Final Mixes are always first priority because they show the full extent of the story.
I never knew about the etheral blades being related to "nothingness" can you link me to some evidence of that? Something concrete, not the KH wiki.
Also, you keep mentioning never seeing someone use or do something. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it can't happen.
We don't see nobodies in KH1. They are in KH2, however.
We don't see dual wielding in KH1. By your logic, it shouldn't exist. But it does.

I'm confused, is Vanitas actually there or is he some sort of reflection next to Young Xehanort. I mean, he kinda just....'poof' appeared in that scene. Wait, nevermind, WHAT IS YX EVEN DOING THERE? The entire scene makes no sense! AHHHHH *pulls hair out*
And that double of riku, seems like Jiminy's Journal to me. Could also be Repliku from CoM, organization coat is throwing me of.

Edit: Yep. They have. Signifying the trailer's person is Lea. So, he's back, unless the scene with maleficent is in the past.

I mean the all the Xehanort(all his forms) ones.
And the pre-rendered scenes look amazing.
By the way, at the Dive to the Heart scene with Roxas, is it Xion pointing the keyblade at him? (like in Days?)
At the end, that looks more like young MX, rather than Apprentice Xehanort/Terranort.
Apprentice Xehanort has brown/amber eyes, while Terranort looks like Terra. This one looks more like the assumed appearance of Young MX. Perhaps this is one of the other MXs that Yen Sid warned about?
