Profiles/OOC thread is here!

Do you remember the legends of old Gods? Many of us have heard the stories, the myths, and the legends. But today they're treated as the old superstitions of fearful and primitive people seeking to explain that which they could not understand.

I tell you this now the gods existed. For over a million years the ruled our universe in peace after purging the evil of the titans. It was towards the waning years of this Empire of the Gods that a great evil crept into our world. Many of the gods were caught off guard by this evil; their minds were enslaved, corrupted, or worse many of them choose to side with this great evil. A great battle was waged in the heavens and the universe was set aflame. Lords Zeus, Odin, Thor, Ra, Osiris, Amaterasu, Vishnu, and many others did battle to save the universe. In the end the battle left both sides weakened. With the last of their powers the forces of good sealed the great evil and themselves away for all eternity. For nearly five thousand years the gods have faded into myth.

Until today...Now in the year 2013 something unforeseen has occurred, the great seal has been disrupted and the dark gods threaten the universe once more. The spirits of the just gods have been cast across the universe by evil. The spirits take refuge wherever they can, sometimes in objects, and animals, but in some rare cases the spirits find refuge in reincarnation. Certain people have discovered these spirits and seeks to use their powers for their own goals, all the while evils grows more powerful. Now 7 young friends have been chosen as keepers of 7 spirits. They are charged with recovering the other spirits and defeating the dark gods. Armed only with the powers of the spirits and their bond with each other they set out to become heroes.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Setting: 7 friends in a large city/college city, USA, present day

These are just my personal favorites, if you have another god you would prefer to play just list it in your template and I will edit. We'll start with 7 friends, but if more people want in as the RP goes on, we can work it in.

(((Remember we're working off the idea that everyone knows everyone else at the start here. Thread Open!)))

Meilin stretched like a cat as she woke up to the obnoxious beeping of her alarm clock. She hated being up so late but she'd had a midterm paper to finish the night before for her World History class and the professor was known for failing as many students as he passed in a normal semester. She grabbed her usual outfit, a short white dress and red leggings, and walked into the bathroom. After a refreshing but mostly cold shower, she got dressed, brushing out her long hair and tying it up with red ribbons.

Grabbing her school bag as she left the room, she went downstairs, glancing about to see if Kouiji had left for work or not. She didn't see him, but her breakfast had been laid out on the table and a note was laying beside the plate.
Mei, I have a meeting tonight so you and your friends will have the house to yourself for your little party. Try not to scare away any of the help this time? I love you - K

She smiled softly as she loaded up a plate with the fresh sausage and steamed rice. It may have been a strange hodgepodge of Japanese and Western traditions at her house, but she enjoyed it, and everything their cook made was always really, really good, even the weird French dishes he was fond of trying to slip in. She was thankful she hadn't made the mistake of eating something before asking what it was, though. She was pretty sure delicacy or not she wasn't going to like Escargot.

Once she'd finished breakfast, she grabbed the keys to her Infiniti and walked out, careful to lock the door behind her. As she walked over to her sleek blue convertible, she grinned as she did every day at the beautiful car. Back home a car was a luxury even her Mother didn't think she needed, but here in the US things weren't as crowded and cars were more of a necessity. Her baby, (She called it Izzy) was a hand me down from Kouiji, but she was gorgeous, reliable and fast and that was all Meilin really cared about.

As she drove the few miles to school, she contemplated the gathering she was having that night. She wasn't sure that watching the newly released Ghibli Films with her friends counted as a 'Party' but it was enough for her. She liked all the people she'd met in America. They were all much more laid back than back home.... Well except for Professor Ikol. She still wasn't sure if that was the history teachers first or last name, but she didn't much care. He was a hardass with a terrible sense of humor.

She parked her car in the back of the lot. There were plenty of spots up front but she didn't want someone to nick her car in the inevitable rush for parking that would come in an hour or so. She walked up past the campus center and into the quad, looking for friends before class.

Shifting through the spaces like only Mist can.
Lane lets a rather large yawn escape his lips as he stares at the computer screen with his finished project gazing back at him. He may have had to pull an all-nighter to finish the thing, but he finally got everything done. And in record time to boot. With a few clicks the document saves onto the hardrive of the machine with a spare on the external hardrive connected through one of the USB ports. That's when he takes a look at the time. He curses to himself before snapping the laptop shut and stuffing it into his bag. With a quick sniff of his armpit he practically rips off his clothing as he makes his way to the shower and jumping in before the water has time to properly warm up. He holds in the scream from the freezing cold water as he feels the temperature slowly rise. Going through his regular routine he quickly cleans his body before jumping out and making his way over to the sink. With a quick wipe of the mirror he looks at himself and notices the dark circles under his eyes. He mentally shrugs at that and grabs his razor and shaving creme before finishing up his normal routine. Once finished with the shaving he slides on his clothes, a simple pair of blue jeans and a black t-shirt this time, and even grabs the two accessories that he allows himself to wear. And with that he makes his way outside to his truck.

He quickly climbs into the cab of the Ram and slides the key into the ignition. With a turn the V8 Hemi roars to life and his ears are blasted by the bass of heavy Dubstep. Normally he would turn the volume down, but he lets the music play seeing as how it helps him to stay awake. It's only then that he thinks about how this would make his third day without any sleep. He admits that it's rather dangerous to go about like this, but that's the way that most college kids go about things. He quickly shakes his head to make his thoughts clear up at this point and pulls out onto the road only to slam on the breaks when he notices something blue zoom past him. With the blue vehicle being a convertible he gets a look at the driver and only smiles. But once some distance is created between the two thanks to other vehicles he pulls out onto the road and makes his way to school.

Once in the parking lot he takes the wrapper from his makeshift breakfast and crumples it up before tossing it into a nearby trashcan from the confines of the cab. He silently congratulates himself for making the shot before making his way to a parking spot in the back. He knows that there are spots available still in the front, but he feels that he shouldn't grab any of those. And besides, the walk could help to wake him up. That's when he notices Meilin making he way towards the school before vanishing around a corner. But Lane just grabs his bag, slides the earbuds on his iPod into his ears and makes his way to his first class. There he finds his normal seat in the back of the room and promptly passes out into a deep sleep despite his location and sitting position.

Hopefully Upward Bound
((There we go. It's been like a month and a half since I've gotten in a good IC post anywhere)).

Amidst the ache-inducing glow of an LED laptop screen, Nick’s face began to drop into a sleep slump. Once… twice… then for a third time, he reread and reread the essay that dominated nearly twenty pages worth of his Microsoft Word window. Around him, his single dorm room is completely dark, save for the light let off by his computer screen. Scratching his beard, he stole a look towards his window, which was blocked out by a shade, save for a fraction of an inch near the bottom, from where a shred of sunlight shone in from the outside. Taking little pity on his eyes, he yanked down on the shade, sending the canvas flying up to the top of the window.

Nick immediately regretted his decision. Sunlight cut through the glass and into his eyes, taking him aback with a narrow squint. “Bad decisions, brought to you by,” he said using his best TV announcer’s voice.

Chuckling half-heartedly, he returned to his paper. He was sure he’d pass this one with at least a “C” maybe a “C+” if he really got lucky. Professor Ikol was pretty harsh, so even a “C-“ or a “D” would have been considered a lucky pass by that standard. After a fifth quick read through his finished product, and a shocking check on the time, he determined that the paper itself would have to do; if staying up all night to finish it wasn’t enough for the Professor, he didn’t know what would be. As quickly as he could, he placed in the few formatting details that he still needed; page numbers in the headers, quick notes in the footer to clarify his points in case they weren’t up to snuff and finally, a quick and hopefully adequate listing of his source work.

“Should’ve taken this f***** class two years ago,” he muttered as his printer revved and spat out his pages. “When Ikol WASN’T teaching the damn class.”

By the time his paper was all out of the printer, his second wind was settling in, and he was feeling the revitalizing sensation of a new morning. “Not enough,” he said as he dove into the mini-fridge beside his desk. From the layers of apple juice, milk and a few ready-to-eat sandwiches from the dining hall, he pulled out an ice-cold can of Mountain Dew. “Sweet green salvation!” he said in praise to the beverage as he packed his paper into his backpack. Ceremoniously, he cracked the tab open and took a great inhale and a huge gulp and let out a sigh. “Tonight will be worth all of this.”

Not a moment too late, he was outside, fully dressed in an old hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a pair of flipflops, despite the cool weather. He cut across campus, neglecting, as usual, the sidewalks that existed for his convenience in favor of the patches of grass, stone and dirt that offered themselves as usable shortcuts. Within ten minutes, he was making his entrance into the lecture hall. Right inside the entrance, he took another gulp of the Dew, finishing the second half of it in one go. “Good stuff. Man, it’s so bad for me.” He looked around, aware of the world around him for the first time that morning. As he did, his eyes fell onto back reaches of the lecture hall, wherein he gravitated towards a familiar face.

((I’m assuming we’re all attending the same class together right now)),

The smell of pancakes seemed to fill the every room of the small townhouse that Shaime's family lived in. She stood there concentrated on the frying pan in her hand as she gracefully give it a flick of the hand to send the cooking patty into the air and catching as it flipped back in the pan. The sound of clapping brought her out of her focus and she looked over to her beautiful smiling mother as she walked over towards her and patted her back. "Oh Shai you really catch on quick, but you'd better not doddle. Here I'll finish up the rest while you get ready for school, make sure to see if Gyasi and Khnur are up too!" Mrs. Anhur went back to finish cooking breakfast while Shaime made her way upstairs towards little brothers room next to hers.

“Gee! Khnur! Are you decent and ready for school?” She poked her head through the door weary of what was on the other side The room seemed empty except for the piles of clothing on the ground, video games, and Pokemon toys, and other card games tossed about in a mess. Shaime game a heavy sigh as she straightened herself up and pushed the slightly opened door wide open. “BOYS! FRONT AND CENTER!” Boomed her voice as she Stood there arms folded watching for any movement.

There was some scrambling coming from the closet followed by a few ‘oows’ and ‘oops’, she made her way towards the sounds and braced herself as she open the closet. A blur of white passed her vision and she couldn't see anything but the whites of sheets covering her from head to toe. “HAHA WE'VE GOT YOU NOW YOU EVIL POKE-NAPPER!” the two boys takled down their older sister bringing her on to one of their messy beds as they laughed and used some paper made claws to ‘attack’. Shaime was use to this type of treatment early in the mornings, it was always a battle with her these to. So she did what was necessary to teach these boys a lesson; she flipped off the sheets wrapping it around them and started to tickle them to defeat. Once she got her rowdy brothers to calm down from calling her a cheater, they zipped off to the bathroom to wash themselves. Shaime made her way to her room next door and set out to gather up her books and nicely printed papers due today since she was already dressed up from waking up early.

As a senior in high school Shaime had chosen to use her free class time for advance college classes to give her a head start once she graduated onto college. Everything was completed and ready for the turn in, it had taken her several sleepless nights to complete but of course she did not let that interfere with her goal. She placed the bag over her shoulder and before heading out she take a look at herself in the mirror. Piercing gold and silver eyes starring right back at her, small bags had begun to appear beneath them. She mussed around her short dark hair as if messing with it would put it to right from sticking out in the back. She looked herself over, the red tee-shirt she wore seemed to accent her shaper edges of her shoulder and slender waist. Athough she hadn't inherated her mothers many curves in the first place, her oval shipped face had.Shaime gave a small frown and shrugged as she made her way downstairs to eat some of those delicious fluffy pancakes her mother had ready.

Once she had finished she bid her family goodbye as she made her the garage. A shinning blue KLE 500 was waiting for her, she pulled out the key and turns the engine on. She could have gotten a car; her mother had offered to get her one for doing so well in school. But to Shaime it seemed it wasn’t as free and open as one of these babies. The garage door opens and she is out on the road towards her first class at the college nearby. At the campus she parks and makes her way towards her class room but pauses as she sees a familiar face waiting around before class starts. “Good Moring Meilin, how are the plans for our gathering going?” Sometimes people where surprised to hear such a light and sweet voice coming from such a almost scolding face, though that may just been part of her charm.

Renn awoke to the sound of his Cell phone's alarm function which happened to be Dream theater's single "Solitary Shell." Once his father had introduced him to the song when Renn was 7... He could fully comprehend every single word and every single inch of his mental state recognized those words on a relative and personal level to his own life. That resemblence was what motivated him out of bed every morning for the past 3 years... "As a boy he was considered somewhat odd, kept to himself most of the time..." He swung his legs over the edge of the bed. "He would daydream in and out of his own world, but in every other way he was fine." He rose to his feet and dropped his PJ bottoms and pulled up a pair of grey sweatpants since his jeans were in the wash.

As the chorus to the song broke out he put on a pair of white socks and soon grabbed his glasses case and his cell phone to turn off the alarm. Framing his eyes with the spectacles was a daily routine he was used to since age 11 although he went from looking like a brown haired Harry potter with round framed glasses to the sturdier frames of bifocal lenses. He slipped his phone into the right pocket and set it to hold. Next came his wallet that went into the opposite pocket. He grabbed a simple blue T-shirt and pulled it over his head followed by grabbing his brush and combing out his hair in a matter of seconds followed by grabbing an elastic to tie his hair into the style he usually wears... The short ponytail with his bangs framing his face. He opened the door out to the hallway and walked out to the living room/kitchen area of his 1-bedroom apartment. he opened the fridge and found what he expected... A small jug of chocolate milk. He untwisted the cap and took three decent gulps before releasing to breathe. He felt energized although still slightly lathargic. He strayed into the bathroom and took off his clothes before steppinf into the shower and the shocking awareness that came from getting up and having one.

After the light Rainstorm of temperature adjusted water, he dried and clothed himself again. Now fully awake he kicked into his effecient style of activity. Fetching his laptop, his finished 20 page assignment for class, his keys and chocolate milk. He locked up, got in his mom's hand-me-down Civic, and drove to the college where he was aiming for his master's in literature.

He arrived with his bookbag slung over his shoulder, his eyes displaying a slight lack of sleep. But his eyes soon widened as he heard that one of his classmates had mentioned a gathering. Maybe Renn should ask if he should come? He wanted to break out of his routine funk. He walked up to the two girls and asked after another swig of cocomoo. "did you say a gathering? do you mean like a party?"

Meilin smiled as her younger friend walked up to her. Shaime had a very different appearance but the two girls had similar tastes and Meilin had taken the younger girl 'under her wing' so to speak when she arrived to take certain college classes. She flicked her black hair back over her shoulder as she started to reply when she saw Renn walk up, bags under his eyes and his trademark chocolate milk in hand, asking about the gathering.

"What, didn't Lane tell you, Renn?" she said, teasing her classmate. They'd all been busy with this paper recently, so she didn't really blame him for forgetting. "We're having a gathering at my house tonight to watch all the Studio Ghibli films I have in one go. My cooks making enough food to feed the school, so you're welcome to join us. It's a dry party, though." she said, summing up her plans for the benefits of both her friends. She didn't drink herself (Except sake on holidays) and she didn't approve of kids like Shaime drinking, so she tended to reign in the alcohol unless she knew everyone else was older.

She gestured to them to walk with her and got started on walking to class. Normally she wouldn't care about being a few minutes late, but Professor Ikol would make you a laughing stock of the class for several minutes if he didn't flunk you outright for it and she didn't really want to deal with his sarcastic sense of humor today. The one and only time she'd made that mistake the short jokes had started and they never stopped. Just thinking about it pissed her off. She's hardly that short! But Professor Ikol, like most Americans, was white and therefore significantly taller than her. Even Shaime, though she was two years younger, had several inches on Meilin's petite frame.

As they walked into the history classroom, she was pleased to see that the class for the most part was empty, though it looked like Lane had pulled an all nighter again and was sleeping in the back corner. She waved at Nick as she sat down in her usual seat in front of Lane, grinning. "I'd draw all over his face right now but Ikol would just make fun of us for it." she joked.

Renn scowled at how Meilin teased him but he smiled. "No sadly... He said that he was gonna tell me something yesterday on Facebook but the assignment must've swamped him and made him forget to tell me... it's just like most college kids, most of them wait until the last minute usually." As he walked into the classroom with the three of them he noticed what he assumed was correct. Lane was passed out in his seat and he gave a curt smile as he said: "I figured I was right." He soon fetched the paper and dropped it in the proper assignment bin on Professor Ikol's desk and took his usual seat beside Lane's comatose carcass and took the last swig of the jug of chocolate milk then he calculated the angles of his trajectory toward the recycling bin. from his seat in the back row he could just do the typical free throw for it but he wanted to try something different. The door was open and at a perfect angle for a rebound into the bin. He tossed it downward and in bounced three times on unoccupied desks. But just as it reached the door Renn's eyes widened in surprise that the professor was walking in! Oh crap! "Professor! duck!" Luckily he turned his head to face the jug of cocomoo and did as Renn said. Making the Jug bounce off it's intended place on the door and into the bin. "Mr Gurski, you maybe the star student in this class but why didn't you just walk down and drop it in the bin?" "Two reasons: 1) I was bored! and 2) it takes more energy. Oh and btw the assignment is on your desk!"

"Oh I see... always the efficient type... Thanks Mr. Gurski." After their brief lapse of a conversation of elevated volume, Renn pulled off the jacket he put on in the car and folded it up to form a small pillow and lowered his head, keeping his eyes closed but his ears open.

Mariam poked at her pathetic bowl of mushy oatmeal, not at all hungry, but not wishing to waste good food. Decent food. Maybe just food. The slimy spoonful crawled down her throat excruciatingly slow, but she forced herself to continue until her bowl was empty. She hurriedly tossed it amidst the other piles of forgotten dishes in her sink, grabbed her purse and jacket, and raced out the door. Popping in a piece of gum, she began to descend the 7 flights of stairs separating her from the parking lot with careful speed. Her building's elevator had been out of service for several months now, but her calves had gotten in great shape because of it. However, this morning, she would have preferred to skip the workout and get right to the lobby, as she was running late.

She had called in to work in order to tour the local university, and with a chipper smile, she acknowledged that she'd finally be able to attend next semester after struggling all summer as a barista. "And what a great impression I'll make, showing up late when I don't even go there yet." She huffed, finding herself on the last set of stairs. Slightly out of breath, she hurried through the lobby, inadvertently ignoring a friendly wave from the manager behind the desk, and sped to the parking lot behind the building. Her silver Mustang, several years old, looked entirely incongruous between all the rusted jalopies and barely street legal clunkers. She opened the door and eased into the leather seat, which was lightly chilly on her back and bottom after a cold night outside. She turned on the seat heaters, adjusted the radio to her favorite indie pop station, and backed out slowly.

Once on the street, however, she sped as fast as the current traffic would allow. Her apartment wasn't terribly far from the university, but more than enough stoplights were positioned in her way. She offered a quick prayer to the traffic gods for a multitude of green lights and open fast lanes as she strategically maneuvered her way between dawdling cars. Someone she passed flipped her the bird and flashed her a frustrated look, which Mariam could only return with a frown and sad eyes before speeding away. The traffic gods had blessed, and with a great sigh of relief, she parked in a visitor spot outside the student center at the university, right on time. She locked her car and smoothed her red striped blouse and black pencil skirt, and fluffed her black hair with her fingers until it was as voluminous as she liked. She met the Dean of Students, a tall and lanky elderly man whose hair couldn't decide which way to lay so it laid everywhere instead. His voice didn't seem deep enough for his age.

"Miss Aldrich, pleased to see you so prompt." He greeted her and shook her hand firmly. "Shall we begin the tour?" And without waiting for a response, strode away on his long legs and leaving Mariam to hurry after him. "I hear you're planning to major in some kind of Liberal Arts?" He asked, but as she made a noise to answer that she was in fact a pre-med major, he cut her off again. "We have a very recognized History department, many of the professors achieved acclaim and produced very prominent students in the field." Mariam made a face as she scurried down the hall. He'd said the same thing about the English department the last time she was on the phone with him, and the Geography department the time before that. But, she would never be so bold as to call him out, and so she merely followed behind him as he led her across campus to an old brick building with large windows. The inside smelled very old, like dust and maps and used books, so she assumed she was in the History department.

Sure enough, the Dean led her to a classroom, the name on the outside of the door reading 'Professor Ikol' in bold, black letters. "Ikol is a very esteemed faculty member," he said as he motioned for her to enter, "it would prove very informative for you if you sat in on his lecture." Mariam thought of saying something as she opened the door, but thought better of it. She liked history, and had the whole day off, so why not? A large smile broke onto her face as she walked into the room and saw several of her friends from high school; Meilin, Shaime, Nick, Lane, and Renn were all sitting, or sleeping, within. She tried to wave nonchalantly, but the Dean was right behind her and quickly introduced her to Professor Ikol.

(hope that works for a first post ^^)

First Blush. The best time of the day, by far. Though many people would rather sleep past the early morning, Jack would think of that as a sin. He was always up before the sun had any chance to shine it's rays on him, and today was no exception. The only thing different about today than any other day was that he was on a hunt. As the sun slowly made its way above the horizon, Jack was lying low between pieces of tall grass. Places like this were few and far in between in the cities, but there was always a few plots of land that belonged to no one, and therefore were overrun with wildlife. His prey was undoubtedly in this very area, bidding it's time until Jack let his guard down, ensuring it's escape. Unfortunately for it, this wasn't the first time Jack had been hunting in this city, and not only had he hours to burn until he had to arrive on campus, but his focus was as sharp as ever.

"Come off it, mate." Jack whispered, letting his oz accent take over. "We both know what's gonna happen. Le's not take the piss 'ere." There was a quick rustle in some bushes ahead of the bushman. Far too big of a commotion for the rabbits that have been known to scamper about this city's outskirts and plots of barren land. Ever so slowly, Jack crawled his way across the dirt with precise measurements as to not draw attention to himself. In one had he had a net, in the other he dragged some fake foliage that covered the majority of his body. Not enough to fool a human obviously, but it should suffice for his current objective. The bush was now an arm's length away, and the rustling continued. He had made sure to place enough meat there to keep the beast occupied. He had planned to use that meat for the gathering later tonight, but there was still a handful of it in the cooler of his jeep. Meilin would undoubtedly protest to the idea of having the Aussie bringing along his own meat to serve, but he didn't care, to him it was a gesture of kindness. Girl's gotta get more in her diet than what those show ponies of cooks she had could offer. Besides, how could he pass up the chance of smoking up a few snags and steaks?

The bush's activity halted, as did the bushman. Had he miscalculated? There should still be enough bait there to keep the beast busy for at least a few more minutes. Either way, it was game time. There was no way Jack hadn't been sniffed out by now, and he sure he was going to be pounced. The bush shook, more forcefully then before. The time was now. Jack leaped up from his hiding spot, just as the four legged beast jumped out of it's own resting ground. Meeting up to his prey, Jack threw the net as quickly as he could muster. He tried his best to avoid the beast's jaws, but being away from the bushlands for so long has made him rusty, and he felt a soft wetness across his cheek. Ignoring it, he wrestled the animal down to the ground, laughing as they rolled on the floor.
"I nabbed ya, Joey!" He cried, holding the dingo down on the ground until he tired himself out. "Can't believe I let ya tag me though." The bushman said, wiping the drool from his dog's tongue off of his cheek. "I know that it's in yer nature to look for weak spots in yer housing and all, but do ye really hafta run outta backyard like that?" The domesticated dog let out a small yip as if he was trying to answer. "'Course ye do." Jack muttered. "Gotta have yer taste of fun, don't ye?" The dog began to slow himself down, his chest visibly pumping with excitement. "She'll be right, there ya go." Jack said softly, rubbing his fury friend's head as he undid the net around him. "Got it outta ya system, did you?" He asked as the dog shook himself clean. He faced his master and gave him another lick to the face before panting heavily. Jack laughed before giving Joey another head rub. "Don't go makin' this a habit, ya hear?" He said, standing up and collecting his equipment. "Got ye some water and kibble in the jeep. Must be thirsty after all that." The dog let out a growl. "Yeah yeah, I got some meat too. I can't keep feeding you that though, can I?" The dingo blew out air heavily from his mouth--almost like a sneeze--to show his annoyance, but followed his master anyway.

After a quick visit home to drop off Joey, making sure the dingo couldn't escape again, and scarfing down a quick breakfast of eggs, Jack made his way to campus, completely neglecting to change from his now dirt covered clothes. Though largely uneventful, the bushman used to the time during the trip to reflect on the mornings happenings. Either his dog was getting sharper, or Jack was getting duller. Maybe he should plan a trip back home sometime to try and regain whatever skills he might have lost during his time in the states. Then again, maybe he was just thinking about things too hard. Sure, his dog licked him when a younger Jack could have avoided it, but life here was different. He didn't need the same skill assists that he did in the Bush to survive that he needed here. As he parked and pulled his bag out of the back of his jeep, he glimpsed at the boomerang he kept back there. It had been a while since he last tried the thing out. He could still use it properly...probably. He mentally made a note of giving it a toss when he had free time.

As he entered the classroom to Old Man Ikol's class, he placed his paper on the small stack in front of his desk. His was obviously not as big as his peer's papers, but there was a reason. As much as a hard ass as Ikol was, he was also sort of a wuss. He had a bat in his attic, and Jack had offered to get rid of the pest for some leniency with the paper. It wasn't much, just a few pages shaved off, but it was enough to give the Aussie an easier time of it.
"You look downright buggered." Jack mentioned with a large smile as he began to walk away. Coming in after a few of the students, he had missed the milk jug incident and assumed that the scowl was from regretting the bat-for-paper deal. Even when he found out the truth later, Jack still liked to think some of the professor's dull rage was due to Jack. He sat nearby the rest of the gang. He had been uncharacteristically late, but he was, at the very least, early enough to have a few minutes of chatter time.
"G'day loves." He said, tilting his barmah hat down a bit before raising it back up again. It was then he realized his shirt was still covered with dirt from the morning's incident. "Ah, pardon the mess," he said sheepishly as he wiped a bit of the dirt off with his hand. "Joey got outta his pen again. Bloody dog's gonna be the death of me."

Following her older friends meilin and renn into the class room, shamie looked around as she spotted Len passed out in his chair. She reached out and shook his shoulder to wake him up "Wake up Len, your leaving yourself wide open for possible attacks on your self conduct." As they gathered around at their desks the chattering of the other students filled shaime's ears. As she looked around her eyes fell upon the entrances as the dean of students walked in with Mariam trailing behind him, she didn't seem to thrilled about it. The corners of shaime's mouth curved up slightly as she shook her head in sympathy for her friend. Her thoughts were abruptly stopped as another student walked in making a bee line straight towards the little group. "Gday loves!" the accent alone brought recognition to shaime's mind. She turned towards the newcomer but the moment she did her eyes laid upon he diry mess on jack's shirt, face, and well just aout everywhere.

Her brows furrowred together as she absent-mindey grabbed at her white handkerchif in the back pockets of her denim pants. "It looks like you'll have to include a danger to your persona hygiene as well." She got up from her desk towards jack and started to wipe the smudges of jack's face, none to gently but full of intent to help. Having to take care of her younger brothers had made Shaime quite the mother hen, even if she constantly denies any accusation of being such. While scrubbing didn't seem to be doing the job, Shaime was about ready to pull out hand sanitizer to retaliate against the dirt. Then the sudden sound of snicker from the otherwise of the room got her to stop.

Whether it had been towards her or just a simple reaction to something unrelated to her didn't really run trough shaime's thoughts. She drew her hands back to her sides "I apologize for my sudden intrusion of your persona space." Shaime spoke bluntly. After having started her college classes Shaime had begun to go through a slow change, she was starting to slowly come out of isolatong her self . Ever since middle school those around her had begun to shun her, tended to talk badly about her, and of course ignore her all through high schoo. So some things still tend to set her off back to her defensive self. But even as she apologizing Shaime didn't shrink down nor did she avert her eyes, she just simply stated her sincere feels up front.

~- Alarm Clock Screaming Monsters -~

He wandered around the area, trying to find his way in the pitch black darkness. Shivering slightly because of the cold, the boy raised his head and looked around him once more. Something about this place was off, he needed to get out of here, and fast. Shaking his head to dismiss the chill, the boy continued walking around, feeling the warmth of a fire and the soft hum of voices, the teen quickly ran in the direction that they were originating from.

"No, you speak lies."

"Lies? Whatever could you be talking about?"

"Don't mess with him, I'm warning you right now missy."

Coming to a stop in his tracks, the young man clenched his fists as the voices called to him, trying to pull him under again. "No, you can't control me, leave me alone. I don't wish to deal with you, I wish to find out who's talking." He ground out, knowing that he seemed crazy, but he just had to know who was talking. 'Cause if he didn't, he knew he'd go insane.

Feeling the sensation of something clawing at him as the voices increased in volume, the boy fell to his knees clutching his head. "No! Stop it, leave me alone already!" He shouted, keeping his eyes shut tight, the teen tried to banish the creatures that clawed at him only for them to get more and more persistent in getting his attention.

"NO!" Aiden shouted, bolting upright to try to escape the nightmare that had been unfolding before him again; rubbing his eyes, he turned his head to see what the time was. Reading the glowing red numbers glaring back at him, a curse slipping free, he threw the covers off and hopped out of bed; he was going to be seriously late for his first period. Grabbing his backpack from the floor beside his bed, Aiden ran out of his room and retreated down the steps, taking them three at a time. "Aiden, are you awake? You're going to be late for class!" He barely spared his mother a glance as he went racing past the kitchen, knowing that she had no idea how right she was. Racing toward the front door, he didn't look as his hand snatched up a set of car keys from the dresser they had in the dining room.

Shoving the door open, Aiden hesitated long enough to see what he had at his disposal for a ride. Today, it was just his mom's flex and, of course, his motorcycle. Grinning in satisfaction, Aiden made a beeline for the dark blue bike and barely sat down on it before he turned the key in the ignition. The bike roared to life, quickly backing out of the driveway, he gunned the engine and raced down the road toward the college. Luckily for him it wasn't too far away, but it wouldn't change the fact he was going to be late.

Reaching the school, he immediately claimed his usual spot near the back of the lot and shut off the engine. Realizing just then he'd forgotten his helmet at home, Aiden shook his head and headed toward the building, glad that he'd put his essay in his backpack before he went to bed last night. Running through the hallways, he tried to ignore the shouts of caution about "running in the hallways". Reaching the classroom, he stopped and attempted to catch his breathe. After he wasn't panting anymore, Aiden opened the door and walked into the classroom, trying to ignore the looks he was probably getting. Looking at Professor Ikol, he didn't say anything as he put his essay down on the desk and immediately made a beeline for the back of the classroom, to his little secluded corner where he'd moved his desk to.

"Mr. Noctis?"

Stopping in his tracks, Aiden slowly turned to face Professor Ikol, remaining silent as the teacher continued, "You're late to my class, how many times do I have to repeat myself? Either show up on time, or don't show up at all. And I want your mp3 player so I know for a fact you're listening to me."

Aiden clenched his teeth as he shook his head, he couldn't hand over his mp3 player, he'd lose his mind if he handed it over. "I can't forfeit it, Professor, and you should just be glad I got the essay done and I turned it in today." He retorted angrily, turning his back on the teacher, Aiden continued toward his desk, throwing a longing look at his old friends before he slid into his seat.

Putting his headphones on, Aiden flicked his mp3 player on and hit the play button, retreating into his mind as he prepared for the torture he'd have to go through for class today. All he could hope is that it wouldn't be too bad, and that maybe, just maybe, he could get the voices to stop so he could start repairing his destroyed (not that it was good beforehand) social life.

Jack brushed Shamie away. Or at least tried to. It was like he was four years old all over again and having his mother cleaning up after him. He made a another mental note. This time it was to make a pelt out of Joey's hind end.
"Ah'm fine, Ah'm fine!" He cried in a way only a panicking Australian could. He never could keep his accent under control when he was caught off guard. It wasn't until someone in the back chuckled that his attacker halted. He was at first glad to have his face back to himself, but then felt a pang of quick annoyance at whoever chuckled. Jack had half a mind to go give them a piece of his mind, but id dawned on him that didn't know who they were or where they were sitting. At the very least, it got Shamie's hankie away from his face. Though he had to give her credit for not just slinking away.

"'S No worries, no worries." Jack said waving his arm, as if to brush away the incident. "Just don't go makin' a habit of it." He then crossed his arms. "I'll make it a point to wash up. Bushman's honor." Jack was about to add on to that when another familiar face came into the classroom.
"Mornin' sunshine." He mouthed lightly as Aiden looked in their direction, who just turned away.
"Speaking of slinking away," he whispered to Shamie, "Has it been just me, or has that Aiden been less of a mate than usual? 'S not to say he was ever a ball of fun-loving energy to begin with, but the bloke's become a borderline hermit."

"Hey, Nii-san? What would you do if I was pregnant?"

Lane looks to the girl that asks him this and starts to think hard on the subject. He primarily thinks about how their relationship has been a sort of roller coaster. First she liked him, then she didn't even consider him family and now she's suddenly being nice to him. Taking all of this into consideration while thinking about how his mother was every time she was pregnant, which was quite a bit even after his little brother died, before coming to a solution. He nods at the likelihood of it happening, so he looks at the girl of only fifteen and tells her in all honesty that he would most likely leave. For starters the house would be way too cramped, and he would never be able to concentrate because infants from his family are never known to be silent. Well, except for him. That's why he's considered the black sheep of his family. He goes on further by saying that he doesn't even like her boy friend at all. And that in truth he's not sure if he could face a child that was mixed with that man's DNA.

The girl looks at him as if she was hurt by what he said, which is most likely true considering how sensitive she can be, but Lane ignores it. To him, you shouldn't ask a question unless you're prepared for an answer that could hurt you. Instead he simply goes back to playing his copy of the most recent Halo before cursing at the game. That's when he sees just how hurt by his comment his sister really is. When he looks over to her he sees that tears have started to fall from her eyes as sobs start to shake her body. But before he can do anything to try and comfort the girl she runs out of her room and nearly knocks down the oldest of his sisters. This one looks at the smaller girl running down the hall before glaring at Lane.

"What the hell did you just do?!" yells the taller girl.

"She asked a question, I answered and she didn't like what I said. Same deal as always, but I think that she took it a little more personal today. What a strange question though."

The girl just looks at him and says, "What question did she ask you?"

"She wanted to know what I would do if she ended up pregnant, and I told her that I would leave."

The next thing that Lane realizes is that he's on the floor holding onto his cheek where he was just slapped. He looks up at his sister and asks why she hit him. She just stares at him with hatred and says that she hit him because he's an idiot for saying something so mean to his pregnant sister. Lane just stares at the girl for several minutes before asking if he heard her correctly. The girl nods and says that they found out just the other day that Emaline is pregnant with her boy friend's baby. After what felt like hours Lane finally gets to his feet, shuts off the console and walks to his closet. He pulls out a single duffel bag and begins to fill it with his clothes. The girl asks what he's doing so he tells her that he's getting his stuff together to leave.

Lane feels his body moving at this point and listens as the screaming from his music assaults his ears. He instantly recognizes the group as Parkway Drive, but that's not what he's focused on. Instead he focuses his mind on the dream that had just played out the day that he left his family roughly two years ago. But he refuses to think about that and pulls the ear buds from his ears only to find that the room has gotten quite noisier. He looks around at the rest of the people that appeared and realizes that most of his friends have already arrived in class. He looks over to Shamie apologizing to Jack for violating his personal space, and then he looks around before noticing that Ikol is already in the class. Thankfully the man didn't see Lane sleeping. Or so he thought.

"So glad you could join us, Mr. Iwakura. I trust that your paper is in my inbox?"

"Not yet, sir. I can send it now though."

"Please do. And while you're at it, please explain to me why you're not like any other Japanese students that I've had."

"I've already told you it's because I'm only half, not full."

And with that Lane pulls his laptop from his bag and quickly brings up his school e-mail. With a few keystokes, mouse clicks and seconds of waiting he attaches the paper file an e-mail and sends it to Ikol's own inbox. Once he finishes that he pulls out his own iPod and quickly turns it off. At that point the surprisingly loud music suddenly dies leaving Lane with his friends.

"Forty-eight hours with no sleep is not good. It brings back way too many things I'd rather forget."

Hopefully Upward Bound
Nick climbed up the low, long steps of the lecture hall, towards the back, where Lane had lowered himself back into a deep sleep. No doubt, he too had pulled an all-nighter to satisfy the gruesome paper that Ikol had assigned. “Glad I’m no the only one,” he said as he snagged his favorite seat between his dozing friend and the open aisle to the professor’s desk. “Glad I’m actually still awake after it too,” he added. He stared freely around the lecture hall, watching as his classmates, most of whom he didn’t even know by name trickled in by ones and twos; no one ever flocked into Professor Ikol’s classes unless the door had been locked long enough to allow for a substantial crowd to build up in the hall. All the more so, most of the people that came in before class actually sat anywhere near each other, the only exception being that of Nick and his friends, who all chose to weather the storm of World History as a team… if one could consider their time as weathering.

As his thoughts drifted towards that circle of friends with whom he shared the coming hour-and-a-half of mind-numbing experience, three of them came into the hall. Meilin was the first he noticed, followed closely by Renn and Shaime, all three of whom made their way towards the back. Nick returned Meilin’s wave with a nod and one of those casual salutes that looked like a wave. He leaned back in his seat, more comfortable in the presence of people he knew that were actually awake and aware; Lane, needless to say, wasn’t proving to be much for company. Almost immediately, Nick’s eyes fell on Renn, who was busy calculating a shot of his milk bottle into the trash bin at the front of the room. Like a spectator in the last seconds of a sporting game, Nick leaned forward in his desk, if only to humor the unfolding event. His eyes widened as Renn let the milk jug fly, certain that his imagination was seeing things in slow motion.

Just as the flying dairy made its one-way trip to the disposal, the man of the hour stepped in through the door. Professor Ikol was on a fast track to intercepting the shot of the day. But the timely intervention by Renn assured that the bottle finished its flight, and landed harmlessly in the waste bin by the door. Nick again relaxed in his seat; admittedly, he was disappointed by the way things had just turned out. Fortunately though, the conversation that followed reminded him that he had to leave his paper on the front desk. Using that chance, he quickly descended to the front of the hall and placed his finished paper in the assignment basket. As he returned to his desk, he saw, through the corner of his eye, another friend, Mariam, being introduced to Ikol.

He had heard she was looking to enroll for the next semester, and assumed she was there to sit in. He felt a bit sorry that she had to sit in on Professor Ikol’s course. The man was a shining example of the horrors of tenure: an older man, well beyond a mid-life crisis that had probably sapped him of expression and sense of passion for what he did, Ikol was a thorough combination of a droning lecture, strict authoritarianism and hard-ass standards, all existing alongside an annoying level of awareness of every inch and instance of his courses to the point that he somehow knew every student on a disturbingly detailed level and could spot someone doodling on their notes in the back row from his desk chair.

Nick reclaimed his seat, happy that Ikol had been distracted long enough to not take note of him and deliver any choice words of wisdom. He chuckled a bit as a smudged up Jack followed closely behind, recanting the tale of how he had had to pull in the leash on his pet dingo in the early hours of the morning. He didn’t say anything of it, but considered that if the Aussie took the time to accurately house train his pet it wouldn’t cause so much of a ruckus. What he did speak up about was Aiden’s attitude: “Doesn’t everyone get that way at one point in the semester?” he chimed in. “Mid-term blues must be hitting hard; I’m sure Lane can agree to that.

The Last Best Place
Mariam stood awkwardly at the front of the class while Mr. Ikol began to address various students who seemed to be late, or harass them about the presence of their assignments in his inbox. She watched as almost her entire group of friends filled up the back of the classroom, and was filled with an overwhelming sense of relief. She could feel the Dean's eyes on her, and it made her uncomfortable and want to sit and join her group. Finally, Mr. Ikol turned to her with a very fake smile. "Ah, I'm sorry Ms. Aldrich, but do you see what I have to deal with here? It's never possible to start the class off on a good note." Mariam only nodded, she'd heard stories about this man from her friends; that his class was incredibly boring, filled with too many complicated papers to write, and that he himself lackluster as a teacher. "I'm pleased to have you joining us for the class today, I'll be covering some very stimulating material about the Enlightenment today. If you would please take a seat anywhere, I shall begin."

Mariam inwardly sighed, but nodded and smiled at Professor Ikol. She hated the Enlightenment, always had. While some found the works of Kant and Locke to be titillating, she found them boring, and always took the opportunity to sleep whenever it had been taught in high school. She meandered through the rows of seating all the way to the back where her friends resided. As she walked, she heard the footsteps of the Dean behind her, and prayed, to no one in particular, that he wasn't following her. She eased into a seat between Nick and Lane, and to her chagrin, she noticed that the Dean had been right behind her. However, he stopped a row ahead of her, probably playing off that fact that he had just been ditched, and instead pretended to look around for a seat for a few moments before choosing one several desks away.

"That man sure is interesting." Mariam voiced the thought she'd been thinking since she saw the man this morning. She looked at her friends on either side of her and a smile broke onto her face. "God, I'm so excited to see you guys! I can't believe that of all the classes I'd get to sit in on, it'd be the one where you're all ganging up." She changed her voice to a whisper as Professor Ikol began to speak. "So after the progression of art and culture during the Renaissance, men began to consider far more than just the living styles of people. Focus was shifted from man's creations and the return to Greco Roman ideals to man's inherit nature."

"I always hated this subject..." Mariam let her face sink slightly in disappointment. Only another fifty minutes of lecture to go. "How are you guys?" She addressed not only Nick and Lane, but whoever was in earshot. "It's been a while since any of you have come to visit me at the coffee shop. I always told you I'd get you coffee on the house!"

(I was really confused with where everyone was sitting, so I hope what I said made sense. From what I could tell, everyone was together except for Aiden?)

Omayra O'Reilly - piloting a motorcycle - rode down to the college at a fast pace. She loved the feeling of the wind against her face, blowing on her clothes. Sometimes it was cold, but she wouldn't trade it for the world. The UV rays struck her skin, increasing her odds of getting cancer same as the smog in the air and the radiation from her cell phone and the carcinogens in her weed. All in all, a good place.

And she thought this with irony, but not with resentment or cynicism. She loved the world even in it's imperfections. She loved the sun and the moon, and the smell of exhaust fumes.

She found herself at the college, and locked up her MC before making her way to class.

On her way she ran into a friend, Ceph.

"Hey Ceph, how's it going?"

---

Ceph Franklin - piloting a bicycle - rode down to the college at a decent pace. He liked to bike, but his primary reason for biking was that it saved gas money and helped the environment. It was slower than any car, and not at epic as a motorcycle, but it worked for him. The sunbeams warmed him, the fresh air felt good, and his eye-strain was easing. But still, he felt far more at home inside.

Dismounting the bike, he locked it up and made his way into the school. First he had Mr. Ikol - Ceph was one of the few students for whom Ikol had some measure of respect. He didn't taunt him like the others, to a large extent because Ceph didn't give him reason.

As he entered the building, he found Ayra walking in at the same time - earlier than most anyone.

"Hey Ceph, how's it going?" she asked him with enthusiasm.

"Great Ayra, thanks for asking!" he replied. It was such a cliche exchange, but Ayra had a way of filling you with such energy, no matter who you were.

---

Ceph replied, "Great Ayra, thanks for asking!". She smiled - Ceph was a cool guy.

"So what are you doing here so early?", asked Ayra.

"I'm always this early. You?"

Ayra gave a sexy grin, and replied "Some of them are here early for breakfast. Hoping to pick up a hot one."

Ayra considered Ceph. He was here, and they were friends. She smiled broader.

---

Ayra was looking for some hot action before class. He smiled. Good old Ayra was always one for casual sex, sex without meaning. Most of Ayra's friends had been in bed with her at least once.

In fact, Ceph found himself with a growing erection remembering one of the times he had been with her. Ah, good times. Not too awkwardly - it was always just casual with Ayra, no need for awkwardness - he asked:

"Up for it with me?"

There were few girls out there like Ayra. But he didn't mind - he was glad for the one there was.

---

Ayra nodded, and gestured him into an empty classroom. An anomaly, this classroom was fully unused all day. They were trying to get it in use, but ever since a kid had dyed in there years ago people avoided it like the plague. Teachers wouldn't take it, and students wouldn't take the classes when they did, so it remained unused.

Neither Omayra or Ceph were superstitious.

Inside the dark room without cameras, Ayra stripped the man's clothes as Ceph did the same with her. He kissed her passionately, and they began to have sex. They were in there for fully an hour before both casually strolled out, as well groomed as before. Everyone who knew Omayra knew what had happened, and some of the men gave him a knowing grin.

With 5 minutes to spare, the two made their way to Mr. Ikol's classroom. Both of them had their papers in the man's inbox. Ayra took her seat next to Lane and Ceph next to her - their usual order.

---

Ayra waved to Lane as she neared him, but found him asleep. Taking her seat next to him (With Ceph on her other side), she made no move to rouse him. When Mr. Ikol came around to arouse him, then she broke in.

"Hey Lane. Tough night?" She said. Lane didn't always fall asleep like this, she suspected either something had happened... or he had just pulled an all-night-er to finish the paper. Ikol made a few sly comments - he didn't make one of her, luckily - and class began.

Note: Temporary, unfinished. My computer is prone to shutting down for no apparent reason though, so I don't want to lose it. Will finish tomorrow.

The bus pulled up.

Erik took a step out and looked at campus. The skies overhead had apparently been drizzling for a few weeks now. It didn't take a whole lot of meteorological knowledge to figure out that they were breaking pretty quickly. He smiled already, his luck forever lasting. A few glimmering rays of sunlight were already breaking through, one of such landing on his figure as he took his first step off, onto the new concrete.

He didn't own much. All that he had was slung over his shoulder in a duffel bag. It was crisp and yellow, bulging slightly. It held most everything dear to him, or at least everything he deemed fit to travel. The apartment he would be renting was decked out with everything already, as per the contract. All he had was an heirloom from his lost parents, a small orb that always had a glow and warmth to it; a pair of football boots, well worn and faded, a sort of mark of his experience and efforts; and about a weeks worth of clothes. The only thing of any value to anyone aside from himself would be his neon-orange laptop.

He figured his money would tie him over for everything else. If he needed anything he would send an email to his foster parents, who were all too happy to send along any forgotten or previously-thought-unneeded thing. Meaning his wallet was thick with cash, and his accounts clear if he needed to pay for anything.

He'd been accepted late somehow. It was odd, wasn't it. Everywhere else would've denied him, and this place had too. 30 minutes after receiving a denial email, an apology and notice of approval had been sent. Stranger things had happened right. That's what Erik figured. Who cares, maybe a glitch in the system.

~- Dares. Never Issue them; They Will be Accepted -~

"So, just how last minute was this last minute trip they offered you?"

She laughed at him, which he found a little strange considering it was a serious question. On the one hand, he almost wondered if the crazy had a hold of her too; but on the other, he'd never seen her act any weird except normal weird, so he decided that she was just trying to rile him up.

You know, just the same old games girls like to play sometimes.

"I told you. My music instructor recommended me for the trip, so I'm going. Come on Seth, it's Greece! Think of all the classical influence!"

"Think of the distance! That's half way around the world, Alana!"

She zipped up her case before turning to look at him, a barely suppressed light in her green eyes. "Oh, it'll only be for two weeks; I'll be back in no time!"

Clutching his chest just over his heart, he pretended to swoon as he mock wailed, "By which time I'll be dead! Between that Ikol bastard and the lack of your charms? My whole existence is meaningless!"

Alana punched him lightly on the arm, a reminder to cut the dramatics in the action. "Again, sign up for theater if you're gonna be such a drama llama, Seth; or at least remember that your antics don't work with me. Between that film party Meilin's throwing and your bromance with Aiden, you'll have plenty of things to keep you or Ikol from throttling the other."

She turned away then, ending his chance at a comeback to her bromance comment. Smiling slightly, he watched her dig around for her compact, then came to the conclusion that, despite being one of his best friends, Alana certainly had a nice...

"Crap! Quit daydreaming already!"

Rubbing at his sore arm, Seth glared at the very solid, unmoving brick of the corner of the college that he'd just run into. Shouldering his pack a little higher on his unmolested arm, he stepped back onto the path and proceeded to climb the stairs and continue his journey to the viper's nest. Alana had left for that trip to Greece earlier yesterday morning, so she'd gone through and given him her report to turn into Ikol when he handed in his own. Just cause she was going on a school trip didn't mean that ass wouldn't dock her for not turning in her paper, a fact they both knew. So, Seth had graciously offered to play errand boy for her. What could he say, he'd made a vow to her to be her slave for life after an all nighter with nothing but caffeine and pixie sticks to keep him going.

Yawning slightly, he rounded the final corner and picked up his pace a little bit. Okay, maybe crashing that party out in the boonies last night had been a bad idea after all, but with his own paper finished two days ago, what was he suppose to do with his free time? Start working ahead? No way in hell; he wanted time to unwind before facing Ikol! But now, he really needed to get his ass in gear, otherwise he wouldn't beat...

A peal rang through the air, bringing another, low curse from Seth as he'd just put his hand on the door of Ikol's lair. Yep, the last bell beating him to the punch just proved that that party had been a big mistake. Oh well, time to take his medicine; at least being the class scapegoat kept Seth's friends mostly in the clear, right?

"Speaking of slinking away... has it been just me, or has that Aiden been less of a mate than usual? 'S not to say he was ever a ball of fun-loving energy to begin with, but the bloke's become a borderline hermit."

Rolling his eyes, Seth made sure to smack Jack ever so slightly on the back of his head as he made his way past the Aussie transplant. Looking over his shoulder, Seth said jokingly, "Yeah, well, not everyone can be you, mate. Every band of misfits needs a token recluse."

"I can't forfeit it, Professor, and you should just be glad I got the essay done and I turned it in today."

Seeing Ikol's face reddening into the danger zone, Seth threw both his and Alana's reports onto the professor's desk, distracting Ikol from Aiden and turning his wrath on Seth instead. Giving him a jaunty salute, Seth spun on his heel and made a beeline for a desk next to Aiden but on the side closest to the others.

"Mr. Sol..."

"Yeah, yeah, I know; I should show more respect to my homework. It's a sacred and vaunted tradition. Put it on my tab, Prof; I'll pick up the time later!"

Ikol harrumphed, but, predictably, he didn't issue a punishment for Seth's extreme use of snark. And why would he? Between Seth's grades and the Sol's name and money, Ikol put up with eighty percent of the crap Seth tossed at him, which actually pissed Seth off. But considering it had diffused the usual threat against Aiden this time, Seth let the injustice roll off his back.

Dropping into his seat, Seth flicked Aiden's headphone's off his head before darting his hand into the guy's bag. Snapping an icy look at him, Aiden said warningly, "What do you..."

"Relax, will ya? I'm just punching in a message for you." Yanking out Aiden's phone, Seth's fingers started flying over the keys as he tapped out, Aiden's gonna be late getting home tonight. I'm kidnapping him and forcing him to revive his social life instead of secluding himself into monk hood. Party's at Meilin's; have him home by one. Laters, Seth.

Handing Aiden's phone back, Seth said, "There, now your mom's been informed of where you're going tonight. You're welcome."

Narrowing his eyes, Aiden said, "I'm not..."

"Yes you are," Seth cut him off, mischief in his eyes. "They're showing Studio Ghibli, and I know what a sucker you are for their work; so, I'd say that's an open and shut case." Seeing the glare Aiden threw him, Seth nevertheless noticed the grudging interest as well. Smiling, Seth turned his attention back to the front of the room, figuring now would be a good time to quite yanking Ikol's chain before the jerkass decided to punish him after all.

Sending out my soul to worlds more beautiful
~- It's Just About to Break -~

Aiden listened to the lecture, not quite caring what it was about today. After all, why should he? He was ahead on schoolwork for the next several days. Hearing a noise from across the room, Aiden glanced at the group of friends that were talking a little too loud. Cringing at the noise, he paused his mp3 player and looked at the group, a faint smirk flitting across his face. His amusement fleeing, he pushed one of his headphones back and stared at Ikol as he carried on about something, but Aiden wasn't quite sure what it was about at the present time.

Glancing down at his book, he read along with the words before an idea struck him. Carefully tearing a piece of paper loose, he wrote a message down, crumbled it up and threw it at Jack's head. Returning his focus to the textbook, he pretended to be reading it as his mind went back over the message. How've you been doing? How's your pet dingo doing?

Closing his eyes, he flipped the book shut and heard the ghosts whispering in his mind; his mind being drawn to the one in that classroom. Brushing it away, he opened his eyes before Ikol could notice and head straight toward him to torment him again verbally. Aiden didn't look at his backpack to see the three days worth of papers sticking out of it that was completed for each of his classes, tapping his pen on the book (it was the bottom of it so no ink would damage the pages) in time to the base of the song currently twisting through his head.

There's a rumble in the floor
So get prepared for war
When it hits it'll knock you to the ground
When it shakes up everything around
But survival is a must
So will you stand with us?

Readjusting the headphones, he shook his head and re-pushed one of them back. Glancing again at his friends, Aiden absentmindedly answered a question that was thrown in his direction, correctly mind you. Leveling an icy stare on Ikol, Aiden returned to his previous task of working on taking notes for the class. He did remember hearing something about a party that night, and he vaguely wondered about it.

Rubbing his ear from when his headphones had been yanked off, Aiden glared at Seth as he went riffling through his bag. Rolling his eyes in exasperation, he let Seth shoot a message off to his mom. Feeling the phone vibrate, Aiden glanced down at it as he read his mom's response. Okay, just make sure he has some fun. I'll see you boys when you get here at one, and I'll be sure the spare bedroom's all set for you.

Groaning mentally, Aiden buried his face in his hands and mumbled quietly, "Thanks a lot mom, throw me to the jackals why don't you?" Ignoring the slightly smug smirk Seth sent his way and the chuckling that bounced around in his head, Aiden focused his attention on taking notes as Ikol continued with the lecture. Although, Seth was right on one thing, Aiden was a major sucker for Studio Ghibli films. Sighing in defeat, he glanced at Seth to see the determined look in his eyes. "Fine, I'll go only because you won't let me skip out on it. Besides, how can I pass up on a Ghibli marathon?" Aiden didn't pay attention as Seth got his "Haha, I told you so!" look in his eyes.
