The Chosen

In a reality far separate from that of our own lies a distant galaxy known as Quintus IV. For centuries, Quintus IV was a tranquil and peaceful utopian galaxy protected by the siblings Gaia and Arias, two mysterious and mystical entities whose origins are incomprehensible to that of the feeble human mind. One day, Arias became corrupted by the powers of darkness and conspired against his sister. He felt that, as Gaia represented femininity, only men had the capability of ruling an entire galaxy. With his charismatic persona, Arias gathered a powerful army of dark soldiers and creatures. With this army, he began a war against Gaia and her loyal forces that last several thousand years.

Arias's plot to destroy his sister failed, and he and his army were sent to the Oblivion Rift, a fate worse than death. However, the powers of Gaia were diminished in the war against her brother, and she supposedly ceased to exist. Humans are unsure of who will protect the galaxy now, but as long as they have hope, humanity will continue to strive. Now, it has been 10,000 years since Gaia and Arias were last seen, and our story takes us to the year 2187. Peace continues to be maintained in the galaxy, but peace is something that does not last forever...

A terrorist group known as Chimera has attacked several planets and colonies of the United Alliance, Quintus IV's governing body. Their intentions are unknown, and no one outside of the organization knows anything about them. The only thing standing in their way...is you. Yes, you. You are one of the Chosen, eight heroes selected by Gaia herself to protect the galaxy in her absence. But you don't know it yet. For now, you have been selected for special assignment by the military on the Haven, the Alliance's newest flagship after the destruction of the Odyssey. You are fulfilling your dream of exploring the final frontier. However, this is just one small step in the direction of your destiny. And be weary of where you tread. Some things do not want to found, and some secrets are better left hidden.

So, take heed. The galaxy needs heroes. The galaxy needs you.

The Chosen

According to legend, after defeating her brother in a war that lasted several decades, Gaia chose (or will choose) eight humans to take her place as the protectors of the galaxy. The eight are described as: a soldier of fortune, a magician of miracles, a warrior of destiny, an adventurer of hope, a guardian of peace, an engineer of fate, a vanguard of justice, and an alchemist of dreams.

I'm thinking about taking the Magician of Miracles (dibs, if you're allowing it). Will that character already know magic before (s)he is assigned the title? I'm also thinking of borrowing elements from another character I'm using in another RP (this character) if that's cool.

Yep, he/she should already be a master of the classical elements (fire, earth, air, and water) and the art of healing prior to the start of the RP. Also, I am creating a deeper mythology in terms of the magical arts in the universe of Spacebound, so that will be able to give you a deeper insight on how to create your magician. And um, sure. As long as the character isn't undead.

I still need to finish this up, but here's what I got so far. Hopefully interest picks up in this RP.

So he is a doctor and a magician?

Also, dark magic is something that common folk in this universe do not practice. (It is also illegal in both religion and government) Also, teleportation (no matter how limited) is something that is not possible.

Yeah he's a doctor who practices/learned magic in order to help heal others. The elemental spells are just things he learned in case he needed to defend himself, which comes in handy with this RP. I put dark magic in to temp him throughout the course of the RP, which (depending on himself and how close he is with the other characters) might corrupt him which would lead to the Dead Doc character he is based off of. I'll change that as well as the teleportation though, once I finish up the temp.

I'm in. I'll take "Vanguard of Justice." Expect my temp. within a day.

How far can we deviate from the norm, weapons-wise? A part of me figured on using a futuristic Bow or the like but I doubt it would be proper given the universal context. (That and the list you gave)

Vanguard of Justice is reserved for you. Also, if by futuristic bow you mean a high tech bow that fires arrows made of energy, then that is definitely welcome. I'd imagine such a bow looking/working similar to a gunblade. (A gunbow would be pretty awesome.)

The Vanguard of Justice: or as I call him, Jecht IN SPACE!

It wasn't until I posted this was I aware of just how similar Mal and Ross' Bios are. I can make any necessary changes. I was also unsure as to what exactly was expected for skills, so I relied on my character's Chosen title as inspiration.

Name: Malvakon Dogoier

Alias: Infamously known as "Scourge" on his home planet. Though those in the army call him "Wildcard," which he himself prefers.

Age: 30, though his rather burly features give him a 35-or-so appearance.

Gender: [Male]

Appearance: When you first see Malvakon, one would assume he was either a pro-wrestler or a Pan-Galactic Olympic contestant. A body honed by years of rigid exercise and years of training, he's about as buff as the models depicted on army-recruitment posters tend to be. Standing at 5'6, Mal is a gruff-looking fellow with forest-green eyes and moderately long hair. Muscles stand across his body and a trimmed stubble seizes his face.

Mal tends to dress rather modestly for such a built physique. He wears an extremely jagged piece of army-issued cyber-metal armor, as opposed to anything unique. It looks almost completely like this, without the helmet: (http://cdn.hitfix.com/photos/2389679/Robocop-Remake-Design-concept-Armor_article_story_main.jpg) He rarely, if ever, wears anything else. Needless to say, complaints about his hygiene are frequent.

Title: [Vanguard of Justice]

Weapon(s):

Independence

An axe used for striking with rough force. An excellent close-range weapon, coated with cyber-metal to give it durability. It has no unique characteristics, though.

Battery Bow

A gift from a grateful client during Dogoier's pre-alliance travels, this bow and arrow is unique in which it uses an energy battery. The bow comes with a switch that upon activation, allows arrows made of pure energy to be cast. This seems extremely useful as it eliminates the need for ammo. However, the bow's battery requires charging, and can only be switched on for so long before it loses power. While it can also be used as a bludgeon or "stumpsword," as Malvakon calls it; it's oblong shape makes it a mediocre close-range weapon. Used more as a back-up weapon than a primary.

Skills:

"Honor? Chivalry? The hell kind of gibberish are you spewin'? Honor don't mean crap if yer a pile o' ashes on the ground."

Upon Dogoier's resigning from the force, (See Bio) he began training in a number of areas in order to become more effective in combat. Rather than specializing in one area, (Combat, stealth, ETC.) he knows a bit of everything. All but forced into being a vigilante however, Dogoier had to develop recon and stealth skills in order to avoid his world's police, as well as be able to fluidly battle his enemies. As such, he specializes in cheap tactics in combat, and won't hesitate to attack pressure points or other weaknesses.

He is rumored to possess a self-taught attack known as "Ghost Antithesis," but nobody has ever seen it in action.

Personality:

"Tch. Procedure? What a 'word. It doesn't matter how somethin' gets done as long as it actually gets done. You army-types don't get that. Though that's yer leaders' fault, not yours. Your just doin' your job."

Free spirit is precisely the way to describe Malvakon. He prefers to do things his own way, which puts him at odds with many. While basic commands aren't a big deal, he won't do something he doesn't agree with. Of course, his way of doing things causes him to clash with some, as he will appear reckless to those that can't see beyond his methods. Morality or conveinence is also not an issue for Malvakon, as he won't hesitate to find the easiest solution to complete the mission.

Outside of the battlefield, he's actually a rough, gentle man who cares for those around him. He takes a bit of a 'big brother' approach to both his team-mates, and people that deserve protecting. He's known as being a good listener....and a harsh critic.

Damn. I'm loving Malvakon, dude. He is accepted, naturally. And don't worry about the similar bio's. Malvakon obviously took a different path than Gordon. I wanted all these characters to have experienced tragedy before, anyway, so you don't have to worry about it.

The axe reminds me of Lexaeus's axe sword. That's a good thing, though.

Oh, here's a little info about the Haven so you guys won't be going into the RP completely oblivious as to what it may look like:

The Alliance Exploratory Vessel Haven (classification AEV-H1074) is an Explorer-class cruiser in the Alliance Navy. It is commanded by Captain Jim Skylar. Due to the recent destruction of the war cruiser Odyssey by the terrorist organization Chimera, it was decreed by Alliance President Arnold Raynes that the Haven would serve as the main fleet's flagship. Prior to it's christening, it was created with the intent on exploring new worlds for humanity's ever-growing population and interacting with other spacefaring civilizations.

The Haven is armed with over 150 Lockheed missile batteries, the standard for every Alliance cruiser. In it's most recent retrofit, a prototype Turbine Laser was added. While this laser is meant to be fired upon smaller ships such as dreadnaughts and frigates, it is also capable of tearing through the shields of cruisers and carriers, giving the Haven an opportunity to take down an enemy ship with greater ease. The laser is also capable of making space-to-ground assaults if necessary. After firing, it takes approximately 5 minutes to cool down for reuse.

The cruiser has approximately 185 naval personnel, ranging from simple engineers and mechanics to highly-trained medical staff and armament specialists. There are 350 marines assigned to the Haven. Specially-modified shuttles are the primary planetary transports for marines. The cruiser also comes with a squadron of starship fighters and a number ground rovers, and heavy tanks. For rec use, there is a gym and two training rooms. There is also a large science lab for medical and mechanical use.

Deck 1 is the first and lowest deck of ship, housing the hangar bay.

Deck 2 is the second and main deck of the ship, as well as the largest section of the ship, housing the science lab, medical bay, gym, training rooms, and crew quarters (all of us will mainly be using the crew quarters for sleepz and whatnot).

Deck 3 is the bridge of the ship, housing the cockpit, Combat Information Center, and the Captain's Quarters.

Sorry my temp's not finished yet. I'm having a hard time getting my brain juices flowing, and I can't seem to bring up a character that would mesh into this universe, since I decided to scrap my old temp. Oh also, do our characters wear the same type of uniform/armor? Since my character practices magic, would that same magic work as a subconscious shield, or will he have to use the same armor as everyone else?

Nah, you can wear whatever you'd like. Robes, armor, regular clothes, etc. I'd imagine the magician wearing a well-made robe.

Name:Zachary Cain

Alias: Zach

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Appearance: Zach is at an average height of 5’9. But that’s the only average thing you’ll notice about him. As large as the galaxies are, you’re not very likely to run into many others who still consider themselves part of Gaia’s church. He wears light standard issue armor, though you’d never get to see it because he often wears dark red robes over them. The robes are etched with small incantations that provide defense as well as increasing Zach’s magical potency. He has blue eyes and short silver hair. For a while he sported a beard in order to maintain the whole “wizard” appearance, but he’s recently gave it a clean shave.

Title: The Magician of Miracles

Weapon(s): Staff of Gaia: A short staff that is less than a foot long, but can easily extend as needed. It is said to belong to one of the original founders of the church, but nobody knows for sure anymore. What they do know is that it emits a magical vibration when it comes into contact with anyone who can make use of it, like Zach. The staff acts as an enhancer to Zach’s powers, though he can still cast spells without it.

Skills: The elements are Zach’s to command as well as healing spells. Though it sounds simple enough, they can be used in a variety of ways (creating a wall of ice from seemingly nothing, an arrow of fire to be shot, etc)

Personality: It’s rare to see Zach in low spirits. It’s not that it doesn’t happen, but you’re just more likely to see a penguin wearing in a bikini on a tropical planet then it is to see Zach seriously upset. He’s constantly tackling problems from different and odd perspectives until something gives way. For this reason he’s become something of a medium to the crew, as much as he dislikes it, often helping others with their life problems and issues. This is odd for two reasons. One: He’s supposed to be a soldier of war. And Two: he’s one of the more younger personal onboard. Still, Zach can’t help but joke in most situations and is often lifting the spirits of those around him.

Biography: Zach was the middle son of two other boys. Though for a short few years he lived comfortably with his parents and siblings, a local member of the church called out to him and showed him something amazing. The man could manipulate fire on a whim. Fascinated, Zach asked if he could learn to do the same. The man smiled at Zach and said that it was for exactly this reason he had called out to the boy; he had sensed how easily Zach could learn. As fate would have it, his parents had not only heard of the church, but used to be followers once upon a time and they were more than happy to allow Zach to study under them.

After a tearful goodbye, the boy left his parents and siblings to live at the church, which was far away from home. There he was dedicated to their way of life and learned almost everything from the man who had seen potential in him: a high priest of his planet. He was a natural spell caster, though he still had to go through the same hardships that all apprentices went through, which made things rather difficult for him. After years of practice, however, the young man proved himself to be worthy of his name as apprentice. It was then the high priest informed Zach that he will one day take over for him as the planet’s high priest.

Zachary was awestruck to say the least, but this didn’t last long. A few seconds later, a member of the church ran in, screaming about an incoming meteor. As master and pupil stepped outside, they saw the offending meteor. Almost as large as the planet itself, it was a wonder how they hadn’t seen it days before. All seemed lost. No body had any hope of surviving: it was far too late to try and escape. Zach smiled and patted his teacher on the back. “Let’s make a miracle.” He told him. The old man smiled back and they made their way to the roof of the church. Combining their powers, they did the only sane thing they could think of: They created a large baseball bat. Laughing like good friends, they gripped the handle at the same time and easily swung the elemental bat. It slipped from their hands and went careening straight at the meteor. There was a large cracking sound when the bat connected, and the meteor shattered and changed directory away from the planet, making for a fantastic show to anyone who watched. Though the two realized how foolish the plan really was, it didn’t change the fact that it had worked.

After that the high priest informed Zach that he would need more real life experience before he could take over as a high priest. He joined various different ships and small skirmishes before finally arriving on the Haven as an ace in the hole. After all, how many people can say they can shoot fire balls from their hands?

Zach sounds great. Accepted. The baseball thing is kinda weird, to be honest. Also I'm glad you added that he commands the elements in a variety of ways.

Let's hope King Naruto and Eva still plan on joining, then we'll only need 3 more people.

He's a weird character. I don't know what plans I have yet but I do know that every major miracle will also involve some strange twist to it. Like the baseball bat being used to hit a meteor instead of some practical solution.
edit: whoops just realized I didn't include his full name. Silly me.
