I just watched the movie, Sunshine, today. I have to say it has an amazing soundtrack. Extremely emotional. Annnnd it inspired this thread. : )

What are your favorite soundtracks?

(Also, sorry if this thread already exists, I looked and didn't see anything.)

Ah, yeah, well the Sunshine soundtrack was inspired by the 2001: A Space Odyssey soundtrack (one of my favourite movies and soundtracks), or more precisely György Ligeti's Lux Aeterna (which I posted on that classical music thread). Also gonna say Trainspotting (hey more danny boyle), though it's not a score or anything.

Death Note, the first soundtrack namely. Brilliant <3

Also, the Okami Soundtrack is pretty awesome.

I don't think I recall any really good ones for movies though =/

Yeah, I knew that...but you have to admit the Sunshine soundtrack is super awesome. >.> I need to see 2001 again, though. I've been trying to find some Gyorgy Ligeti stuff, but I can't unless it's a soundtrack. : ( Stupid classical being hard to find. Do you have any?

classical tends to be easy as balls to find

if you have a particular conductor or pianist it might be harder though (though vladimir horowitz's stuff tends to be everywhere on the internet)

I always try to find a recommended recording... so that's why it's hard for me, I guess. : (

No movies come to mind. But The World Ends With You, decent enough soundtrack.

I'm really surprised by the low number of movie soundtracks in this list. I collect them

My collection:
Dragonheart (my favorite. and best score ever in my opinion)
Peter Pan (the new one with Jason Isaacs as hook)
Pirates of the Carribbean (At worlds end)
Lord of the Rings (whole series)
Star Wars (Phantom Menace)
Braveheart
and others I'm forgetting I want so much more

and those are ones with just score for sountracks with songs I liked
Moulin Rouge (there are 2 soundtracks)
Grease
Bruce Almighty
others.

An interesting note about Movie scores

Listen to the soundtrack for Gladiator. especially the parts during the battle scenes.
Then listen to theme music for Pirates. you will finds loads of similarites (in fact. if you listened to the gladiator soundtrack without knowing it was from Gladiator you would probably think it was pirates.

(considering they were made by the same composer just a few years apart)
