we heard her voice in the beggining of KH 1 but sense he never talk about her at all I think that wasn't his mom, Sora's an orphan

I remember when I was told Aqua was his mom...that upset me lol. Thank god he was a stupid kid

I wouldn't say he forgot about them, but more like the other way around, during the time he was asleep anyways. At the beginning of KH1, when DI was about the be destroyed, Sora didn't see the main island disappear, only the play island, so he probably assumed everyone on the main island was safe, and concerned himself with Riku and Kairi, who were both on the play island during the Heartless invasion.
Anyways, yeah, his parents exist. We heard his mom call for him in KH1, and in BBS, Riku mentioned that Sora's dad took them to the play island.
But once he learned that the entire world had been destroyed, wouldn't he have been devastated that his family is gone? He was more concerned about his friends than his family.

For all we know, he could've been in denial. But then again, family isn't all that important in KH (aside from Ansem and Ienzo and I guess Kairi and her grandmother. Maybe Sora realized this XD Besides, it's not that farfetched for him to care more about his friends than his family. "My friends are my power!" and all that.

I laughed when he sticks his chest out in Hollow Bastion when he finds Riku after being abandoned by G&D. So far (I haven't played BBS yet) only his mom's voice appears in the game, and that's only calling him to dinner. I guess you do wonder about it at one point, but she's not important in the game, so whatever.
...Or is she...?
Nomura has already stated that family does not matter in KH. That's why the only characters with last names are disney or FF characters with established last names

Sora's parents are not central to Kingdom Hearts; the games are about darkness in hearts, not about family ties. That is why so little detail about Sora's past is given. What is important to the series is the present and the future.
I think his parents are of little or no importance. His mum voice was only used to enhance the cutscene of when Sora leaves the house, and possibly to clarify that Sora is not an orphan. Apart from that I don't think they'll ever make an appearance as they probably wouldn't make any developments in the story.
Back when I joined I made a thread like this and was told family doesn't matter in Kingdom Hearts.

Yeah, it seems like none of the main characters in the game really are concerned with their families. I guess the designers made it that way on purpose.
