Wasn't it Data-Roxas who said all those things in Castle Oblivion? '-'

Nah, the sponge analogy was Data-Riku. Data-Sora couldn't recognize Data-Roxas' voice so he kept referring to him as a stranger but when Data-Riku shows up, even with his hood up Data-Sora refers him as "Riku."

Then I don't remember it. I mean I remember something along those lines just not where ;A; in which world was this?

I'd sooner say he's just taking the character in a different direction. That means neither that he was underdeveloped before, nor that it means he WILL be developed in the future. It just means they're changing things.

That too, but that would almost mean the qoute that the guy posted about Sora 'changing' would not fit in this topic. I think Sora will be more developed since him and Riku are taking their MoM's. And then of course Kh3 will most likely have the most development.

Whoo! KHIII 4Ever!

Due that he could be developing more, since Nomura is now realizing he's underdeveloped?

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Heck, even Data Sora's characterization is better than KH2 Sora, in my opinion.

Hater.

...how many games other than BBS didyou play? Just curious.

Finished every game except KHII:Final Mix and BBS:Final Mix. Thank You Have A Nice Day.

I don't know really what you meant by not developed.

This post is an example.

You know, it's funny how people tend to hate happy-go-lucky characters. That's part of why I love Sora so much, actually.
And am I the only one that doesn't think Sora's an idiot? =\ Being a peppy goofball =/= stupid. He might not be the smartest of the bunch, but I wouldn't call him stupid.
I agree and no, you are not the only one. I really like Sora too, sure he's a bit of a goof but he's definitely not stupid.
The reason people dont like happy go lucky characters: They are not realistic.
That's not true. There are people like that in reality too, you know?
Also, that's the point in why a lot of people enjoy movies, games, etcetc. Because they are not REALISTIC. If every character and story were realistic, it'd get highly boring eventually.

I agree and disagree. Video games are enjoyable because there's a touch of fantasy, yes, but unrealistic characters are one of the signs of bad writing. If no one on Earth would answer yes to 'would I have done the same', it's detached and unrealistic in the bad way.
Personalities are one of the things even video games shouldn't toy with too much.

Sora can say all the depressing things he wants, but that doesn't mean he is developed at all. Sora is EXACTLY the same as he was at the beginning, literally nothing has changed. Even if Nomura wanted him to stay that way, that isn't a good character at all.

Good characters have to go through things, understand their mistakes, and it has to change them in some way. The most throbbing example of this is Riku, obviously. Hell within Days, Roxas got developed more than Sora and we haven't even had that much time with him. When he says that the darkness got to him too, that changes nothing, we couldn't tell that the darkness effected him, and the darkness has been known to affect someones actions.

Sora got developed an assload in COM, with all the nonsense going on with Repliku and Namine etc We got to see his character grow more, but Nomura wanted his memory wiped for some reason, throwing all of that out the window. So instead of maturing, by the beginning of KH2, Sora is back to his childlike mentality. How I see it, Sora is only here to move the story forward and save TAV. That is the only role I see for him right now.

While reading this i saw sora going comatose while remembering everything in com, and after that slitting his wrists.

I think there's a character there for him to develop beyond KH1, it's just they never seized on the opportunity.

Sora isn't always happy. What about that time after Maleficent saved him from Saix? Didn't he get on the Gummi Ship and start crying about losing Riku and Kairi?

He cried about the whole mess in general, and about how he's effectively helping the enemy.
But yeah, KH2 Hollow Bastion as a whole was an emotional train-wreck for Sora.

They can do more now that they're releasing 3D and eventually KH3, but BBS ends up trying to make him out to be that "chosen one" type, when he was stated to be a "regular boy" all the time earlier.

They really need to abandon that "he's going to save everyone" and distribute that across the other characters as well(Riku, Kairi, especially Disney protagonists who need to get more involved), not only to give those characters some time, but to stop Sora from decaying even further into a no-personality-but-can-do-anything "main character".

I think they kind of killed the possibility of too many people sharing the burden when they had BBS name Sora and Riku to be the lone two to save the universe.
But that's part of what irks me in this whole mess, truth be told. It's Sora and Riku. In a way, it makes a lot more sense for Terra to have called out for Riku in Blank Points than for Sora, seeing how the Lingering Sentiment went as far as to go "oh hey kid you're not the one I chose, go away" before going into rage mode. And after all the Riku-center DiZ/AtW seemed to have in KH2, only going on about Sora in Blank Points... bleh. At least he conveniently had arguable memory-loss.
But the Re:Coded secret ending was the last straw. For Mickey... MICKEY to treat Riku as an after-thought? I can sort of understand Yen-Sid, he never met Riku, but MICKEY? What happened to all that 'we're connected' crap from CoM?

I really don't mind overall the plot reasonings behind Sora being the one to save everyone. I wouldn't even mind it all that much that he was a messiah. But it's just breaking too many things along the way because it's not only HE who's going to do it.
Unless they're going to twist it so that BBS was actually talking about Sora and Ven. And then I'll kill someone.

Well, Sora may be the one who will finally pull the trigger for the "rescue", but we have to keep in mind that he (and we) don't know how those triggers work, where they are and how many are needed.
Sora won't accomplish all that by himself, so there's enough room for Mickey, Riku and all the others helping out and actually allow Sora to do the rescue part. A messiah would do everything by him/herself.

You may rage, but I can imagine Nomura already having planned something in that direction.
Remember the BBS prologue when Sora's heart just healed Ven's injury? Both Sora and Ven were stating in unison "together we'll open the door" and as we know now "door" can have many meanings.
In essence Sora and Riku also opened the "door" in KH2 together because it was Riku who gave Sora the letter.

I'm not arguing over the actuality. We all know we're going to get party members and lots of people are going to work behind the scenes. And if Sora's playable TAV aren't which means that once we save SOME of them they'll help Sora to save the rest.
But it's the character presentation in this case which ruins it for the poor kid.

You may rage, but I can imagine Nomura already having planned something in that direction.

Oh, not doubting it. But it's all a continuation of his bad story-telling.
It basically sums up to Riku, who's about the best character in the freaking series... being filler to keep us from admitting this series is ONLY crap.

You'll forgive me if I won't take that example seriously. I'd sooner say it was *gag* Sora and Kairi *gag* since it was her letter and she was on the other side waiting for them.

Lol, can't argue with that. However at least the burden would be distributed somewhat and Sora's not some super-kid who sweeps through with a checklist going: 3 people saved, 4 remaining.

I think you're overdramatizing it. Riku is the deuteragonist, therefore should be the second most important character in the series, not a filler.
And this time I'm going to bet it'll be Sora and Riku saving the day simply because Ventus is in no actual shape to do anything. Even when he's rescued it wouldn't be that realistic if after all those ordeals and year-long coma he would be full battle-ready again on the spot.
Let that Sora-Ven thingy be a possible foreshadowing for the next saga or so.

Of course, it wasn't really meant that serious...Kairi deus ex machina? Yup, think so...

It kind of seemed to be the case in KH2 xD;;; "Lesse, Riku, the King... oh man, Kairi now, too? Again?! *writes her name down* :C oh well, on to the next world. Lesse if we can wrap that one up before dinner."

I think you're overdramatizing it. Riku is the deuteragonist, therefore should be the second most important character in the series, not a filler.

Granted. I was talking more about if they pull that Sora-Ven crap twist, not what we have now. Though as I said before, the way they present it ruins it for the both of them. Sora's JesuSora and Riku's barely an afterthought >_>; Way to go and ruin everything, Nomura.

Even when he's rescued it wouldn't be that realistic if after all those ordeals and year-long coma he would be full battle-ready again on the spot.

Oh yes that stopped them before.

Let that Sora-Ven thingy be a possible foreshadowing for the next saga or so.

I'd much prefer it if that did that. BBS came far too late into the saga for me to be satisfied if they suddenly finished fixing everything and solving everything. Granted some mysteries like, say, what the hell Namine is, I'd prefer to have explained in this saga. But for the sake of the plot, he had better leave some stuff for the next saga from this one. Otherwise he introduced, like, what, half a dozen characters? All to be offed within a game after the one they were introduced in? Lovely. It's pathetic in a long-running series.

Of course, it wasn't really meant that serious...Kairi deus ex machina? Yup, think so...

I'd sooner blame it on Sora being a deus ex machina. Riku basically said as much in the post-credits scene.
