Lately i've been thinking about the X-Blade. During the Keyblade War it was shattered into 13 fragments of darkness and 7 fragments of light, and the true KH was lost into the realm of darkness. Then the light in the hearts of children came together to forge 7 hearts of pure light which banished the darkness and sealed it behind a door. Thus the banished darkness became the realm of darkness and the door that sealed it was the door to darkness.
The 7 hearts of pure light act as a substitute for the light of the true KH, upholding the realm of light. As such the 7 fragments of light from the X-Blade choose 7 guardians of light to protect the princesses of heart just as the original X-Blade protected the true KH before the Keyblade War.
So exactly what is a fragment of the X-Blade? The 7 lights choose 7 guardians, keyblade wielders to act as protectors of the princesses. Obviously the 7 lights of the X-Blade must have a desire to protect the realm of light and so protects the princesses that uphold the realm of light.
So what about the fragments of darkness that came from the X-Blade? Just like the 7 fragments of light from the X-Blade, the 13 fragments of darkness would surely want to protect the realm of light just like the original X-Blade the fragments originated from, right?
So this brings me to my point. When the 13 Seekers of Darkness and the 7 Guardians of Light clash they will forge the complete X-Blade, right? This will cause the true KH to return to the realm of light. And this is what the 13 fragments of darkness from the X-Blade want.
You see to the 7 fragments of light from the X-Blade, they seek to protect the realm of light by choosing guardians to protect the current upholders of the realm of light: The Princesses of Heart.
But the 13 fragments of darkness from the X-Blade believe that forging the true X-Blade and returning the true KH to the realm of light is what is best.
Because of this the 13 fragments of darkness would choose 13 Seekers of Darkness who have the intention of forging the complete X-Blade and bring KH back to the realm of light, despite MX's intention of doing so in order to begin a second Keyblade War.

Another thing i'm debating is that perhaps the fragments from the X-Blade actually reside the heart of the people they choose. I think perhaps the fragment of light from the X-Blade that chose Sora may have been in his heart in KH1 and when he said "KH is light!" to XH, it caused KH from inside the realm of darkness to react to his call (the call of a fragment of the X-Blade) and this is why the light of KH shined through the door to darkness at the end of KH1.

And finally just some speculation but maybe Nomura had originally planned to introduce the concept of the fragments of light and dark from the X-Blade in BBS.
Remember this orb? In early trailers for BBS MX had a similar one in a scrapped scene from Olympus Coliseum. He was showing the orb to Ventus and said, "It seems you're losing it, but you haven't lost it permenantely." The same line he uses in the final version of BBS when refering to his loss of his darkness (Vanitas). Yet what if originally Nomura had planned for that scene to have meant Ventus was losing his fragment of the X-Blade or something? And MX was summoning his own X-Blade fragment to show Ven in that scene what he was talking about.
Then in the final version of BBS he still shoots the orb below to summon the blue KH. What if this orb is in fact the fragment of darkness of the X-Blade that chose MX and he used it to summon a fragment of the true KH to the realm of light? Which is how the blue KH got there.
