Six months after the epic trials of the Dragonborn, a motley group of suddenly and mysteriously freed prisoners find themselves thrown into a Skyrim much changed from how any remember it. With the Empire nearly pushed out of the northern province and the region stronger than ever, the Aldmeri Dominion is bolstering its ranks for a final push against Skyrim.
Meanwhile, the last battle of a three-and-a-half thousand year war is brought into the modern day with the sudden appearance of Snow Elves and Dwemer alike. Long-unseen Psijic Mages prowl The Pale, seeking to thwart the efforts of the weapon-collecting Daedric Dawn.
With the Dragonborn absent from the northern province and mounting dangers reaching a tipping-point, disparate heroes must come together to determine the fate of not just Skyrim, but all of Tamriel and the entire earthly plane known as Mundus.

- PROPHECY OF THE DRAGONBORN -
When misrule takes its place at the eight corners of the world
When the Brass Tower walks and Time is reshaped
When the thrice-blessed fail and the Red Tower trembles
When the Dragonborn Ruler loses his throne, and the White Tower falls
When the Snow Tower lies sundered, kingless, bleeding
The World-Eater wakes, and the Wheel turns upon the Last Dragonborn.

Six months after the Dragonborn's epic trials, it seems necessary to reflect upon and absorb all that has occurred now that nearly all the collateral dust has settled. With the menagerie of factions and ideologies at play, the Dragonborn's single-mindedness in his quest to save Skyrim was astonishing - never once picking sides in the province's civil war or involving himself in heated conflict.
Similarly, when so much could be gained with the goods or services of interested groups, our hero wasted no time even in joining their ranks, instead displaying the ultimate stoicism when time was of the essence - ignoring the helpful arcane wisdom of Winterhold College, or the able-bodies warriors that were the Companions.
As if to make up for his lack of factional alignment, after the defeat of Alduin the World-Eater, the Dragonborn re-established the Blades in Skyrim - drawing upon the most elite soldiers from the ranks of the Stormcloaks and the Legion - and took them back to their roots, as dragonslayers. The sight of foes so bitterly divided now fighting for Skyrim's good was a rallying banner for many - it became a sign of the province's reunification and a partial quashing of the cultural and ethical uncertainties of choosing to fight solely for either of the opposing sides in the civil war. To this day the Dragonborn continues his efforts of ridding not just Skyrim - but all of Tamriel - from the dragon threat.

In the wake of the Dragonborn's heroic trials - in which he slew dragons, mastered the Thu'um, and both led and united the Jarls as the High King - the Tamrielic northern province of Skyrim knows a brief peace, even in the face of the uncompromised Thalmor and the death of the heir to the throne of Skyrim: Jarl Ulfrick Stormcloak. Six months have seen the Dragonborn's hand shift alliances and leaders, where even as the Thalmor threat looms Skyrim is a place more prosperous and welcoming than ever in its recent past.
Even before his ascension to the throne, it seems almost destined that the Dragonborn would unite Skyrim, regardless of the banner he flew: Thane to all the Holds, and arguably the greatest warrior in the Stormcloak Rebellion, it is not denied that he fought alongside the Companions and studied with the mages of the Winterhold College. Those seeking to discredit him have had no luck in linking him with the Dark Brotherhood or the Thieve's Guild, but they claim this as further proof of his subterfuge. How the Dragonborn managed to form and maintain all these alliances, save Skyrim from the World-Eater and lead it to near-unanimous unity in the space of under a month - beginning on the 17th of Last Seed - remains utterly unknown. Currently, his diplomatic efforts in Hammerfell continue, seeking to strengthen ties between it and Skyrim, in addition to restoring relations with the Thalmor-occupied Cyrodiil.
This special edition of the Whiterun Herald is dedicated to these great accomplishments of the Dragonborn. It draws upon accounts from as many relevant parties as could be interviewed - those of the Companions, the College, the Bards, Blades, Stormcloaks, Legionnaires - in an effort to form the most complete picture yet of what truly unfolded over those hectic days.
