Should Sora Become A "Keyblade Master"?

When Sora inevitably returns, do you think he should (somehow) be deemed a "Keyblade Master"? Whether it be the Mark of Mastery or just be named one for killing Master Xehanort, does Sora really need that title? It also made me wonder about whether the title means anything in the series besides an accomplishment that can be used for plot purposes (like Terra becoming jealous of Aqua/more susceptible to darkness)? KH3D made it seem a little more meaningful (probably because their Mark of Mastery wasn't hitting light orbs and was a very important mission), but is there really a point to being a "Keyblade Master"? Sora defeated Master Xehanort WITHOUT being one. Although, thinking about it, he lost the Power of Waking, so perhaps he will need to become a master in order to reclaim it?

What are your thoughts?

No he probably won't. Kairi or Terra would get the title quicker than him. And i don't want another game dealing with Sora taking the MoM exam.

I feel he is fated to become something greater than a mere Keyblade Master

I recall that after defeating the Demon Tide, Xigbar and Dark Riku turn up and (oddly) Dark Riku says something about 'a real test for the Mark of Mastery', before unleashing a hoarde of Heartless. Even though Sora and co. actually fail to defeat the hoarde and are bailed out by Yen Sid, it could suggest that Sora defeating the Organisation and Xehanort makes him worthy of being a Master

I don’t think he is ready, being a master Isn’t just about being powerful, also I don’t think that is a big feat cause anyone can defeat the organization not just Sora, the keyblade is the nobodies weakness, so any powerful keyblade wielder can get the job done “specially” keyblade masters, plus it was said that Roxas fused with Sora thus giving him everything that Roxas learned, Roxas was said to be the second strongest in the organization after xemnas, plus Roxas is really strong he was owning Sora until Sora got cheap shot sneak attack on him.

So it seems the title doesn't actually give you any extra powers so Sora doesn't need it. I would argue he deserves it more than many actual Masters in the series by defeating Xehanort but it seems very subjective

I guess everyone deserves the title then cause Sora didn’t defeat xehanort alone, he had help from Donald and goofy, and his friends also they helped him in the final battle, and kairi is the reason Sora was alive when all of them died, the final battle was a team effort.

He doesn't need that title and it would be jarring now. Xehanort accepting defeat and handing over the χ-blade was more powerful and symbolic than any other possible cerimony.

Sora doesn't need it. The title "Keyblade Master" really doesn't mean much unless your name is Xehanort. Sora's already done amazing things without the title.

Roxas, Ventus, Xion, and I guess Terra aren't Keyblade Master's but they did just fine in the Replica Xehanort fight. Roxas does just as much damage as Terra and Riku, while Xion's magic was as strong as Mickey and Aqua's with Reflega.

It's a nice goal for TAV to work to achieve but the title doesn't automatically make them more better with Keyblades.

No. We get this topic every year lol but no. He doesn't need the title. He doesn't want the title. Sora sees no value in it. He knows it means something to Riku and the other wielders but when it comes to him, he feels lucky enough to be a wielder at all.

The only other aspect I can think of of being a Master is that you train other wielders and some of the Masters are chosen to withhold the secrets of the Land of Departure, which i presume has some connection to Scala.

To be honest I was never crazy about the Mark of Mastery going beyond BBS. It made sense for TAV to take the exam because they had never left the Land of Departure and used their Keyblades to slay monsters and villains. By DDD Sora and Riku now have to take the exam? Why? Sora already proved he's more then worthy to wield a Keyblade. Before BBS everyone called Sora a Keyblade Master. Now they have to back back-pedal on it all through KH3 "Oh Sora, we know you saved the world twice but you're not as good as the heroes that are asleep, trapped in darkness and got their body stolen. Get good" Like what? The achievements of KH1 and KH2 don't mean anything compared to this flimsy "Keyblade Master" title apparently. I think the title is fine for TAV since it's their dream and all, that's great for them. But it shouldn't be used to look down on Sora and the others who are not masters. I'll keep saying it Sora, Kairi, Roxas, Ven, Xion, and Lea did just fine in ReMind without that title.

Now if they want to do a civil war type deal where the master's clash with the non-master's that would be something to talk about. I'd be on whichever team Roxas is on

"Should Sora become a Keyblade Master?" My answer to that question is why is that title such a big deal anyway? For Aqua and Riku it makes sense. Aqua is the inheritor of Eraqus's knowledge, and Riku sees it as a way to prove to himself that he is worthy of being a Wielder. But ever since KH3 its just a cheap way for the characters to look down on Sora. For all the crap that kid has done, they think he "still needs work." He's not a leader by any means, and yes he is very reckless. But to me the constant crapping on him in KH3 went from a joke to just plain bullying.

Maybe Darkness wasn't an element in their Mark of Mastery Exam? Perhaps it was an arbitration exclusive to Eraqus' perspective? Or maybe the Darkness was yet to manifest on Xehanort or he had it under control unlike Terra during his examination.

Well, it's his nearly being taken over by darkness (and thereby losing the Power of Waking) that caused Sora to fail his exam too and it would seem like a logical thing to be on the look out for in any exam, at least. Xehanort being able to control his darkness would make a lot of sense though, as the MoM suggests that's what makes him special in ReMind . I just think it would be fun to see his exam and what he does in it

Like others have said, the title means nothing to him. He doesn't care. Which is why I always get annoyed when people talk about how he should've been named a Master because he did main character stuff.

Sora isn't looking to become King of the Hokage Pirate Jedi Wizard Chefs, guys. He doesn't give a damn unless the title matters to his friends.

At this point, being a Keyblade Master doesn't hold any baring. How the hell would Aqua and Riku compare to some idiot kid who was able to kill off giant beasts and gods for 2 years? Despite all that they mock him for not being one. It became a flimsy status, but it's a flimsy status that fits Aqua and Riku for the growth of wisdom they shown throughout the series....well Riku's at least. I'm not going further than that.
