i'm getting my tax return in a few weeks and i want to use it to finally get a console after many months without one. however i'm in a dilema. i really want the 360 with kinect, but i look at the ps3 and the game collection and i'm caught between them both. i really want the kinect but the ps3 game collection is getting at me. i have no interest in the ps3 move, but i'm still torn. i currently own a psp and a ps2 and i had to sell my 360 for bills and i miss playing it. but i don't know. any suggestions?

If you're in it for online play the 360 is the way to go. Yes, you have to pay for it, but it is so much better than the PS3's online. But if you don't care about online play the PS3 would probably be the way to go, since, ya know, KH3 is gonna be on it in a few years. And I have Kinect, and it is awesome, it is not without its errors, but it is pretty good considering this is the first time a no control thing has been done.

Yes, the new black 360 (can't remember what its called) has built in wifi and is made for Kinect. You would not have to buy an adaptor, and to hook up Kinect, all you would have to do is plug it in to the back of the 360, opposed to plugging Kinect into an outlet and in the back of your 360 for the older version.

Don't bother with Kinect right now. It has a couple of fun games, but not much beyond that right now.

PS3 has a lot to offer. 360 too, but PS3 has a more diverse and high-quality exclusive library (IMO).

What kind of games do you like?

i'm into rpgs mainly, but i played the kinect at my company party and i'm really hooked on Dance Central. but to argue that Nippon Ichi does games mainly for the ps3. so i'm torn on future games for kinect or current games on ps3, plus i have to think of what i can afford. if i go with the 360 i can only afford the kinect with 4 gig hard drive plus maybe a few cheapo games, but i want to replay mass effect from the beginning and you can't do that with the ps3. however the ps3 does have cheaper systems and more choices when it comes to storage options, i mean how did micro decide to go from 4 gig to 250 gig difference? always wondered that.

Don't just buy Kinect for Dance Central. Don't ever buy something for one game.

360 has RPGs but PS3 has more Japanese RPGs because the 360 failed pretty badly in Japan.

If you like RPGs you would like:
Demon's Souls
Folklore
Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
White Knight Chronicles
Resonance of Fate
The Last Remnant
Ninokuni (Studio Ghibli game)
Dark Souls
Valkyria Chronicles
Nier
Disgaea 3
Hyperdimension: Neptunia
Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel
Yakuza 3 and 4 (though these are more action games than RPG)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 3
DC Universe Online (though more MMO action RPG)
Eternal Sonata
Final Fantasy XIII

which are all on PS3...among other games...

The PS3 cam do both. You can connect it to a wi-fi network or connect it directly to a laptop.
When researching games make sure you pay attention to which ones are exclusive. You don't want to purchase one of them and then come to find out that specific game you were looking for is only on the other. As for Kinect I would go find a friend that already owns it so you can try it out. Play different types of games to get a feel for how it works, you may love it or hate it after just a day of use.

PS3. It is just better. More games, movie quality, just as good as of an online central as live. What you are getting with a new 360 is a 4gbhd thing with wirless. What you get with a ps3 is something with at least a 120gbhd with pure awesome built inside it. I am not trying to start a console war, but go with ps3 you will be happy you did.

well i've played the kinect at my company party and we all had a blast playing. i played Kinect adventures first which was pretty cool, but then my manager put in Dance Central and we all joined in and had a blast, we were having dance battles until the end of the party which was pretty cool.

If you're going to be using your console as a party attraction, then of course the 360 Kinect bundle will work well for you.

However, when you're by yourself, Kinect really doesn't have that much to offer.

Pros of the 360
*Xbox Live
*Cheaper than the ps3
*The kinect is a nice camera but i haven't found a reason to get it yet
*Xbox Market place

Pros of the ps3
*Blu-Ray
*All models come with a decent size harddrive
*bluetooth
*Remote play / Psp integration
*doesnt sound like a microwave is running in your room.

it all depends on what you want to do with your system. i have both and i find my self playing my 360 a hell of a lot more.
mainly because of Xbox live.....

PS3. I dont feel like explaining why. But anyway, you'll be happier with the end result.

This from someone who owns all systems and tries to support them as much as I can.

This reminds me of when my friends bitch "Man I gotta buy a 360 and Black Ops soon..."

"Why?"

"Because"

"Why do you want a 360?"

"Because Black Ops"

"But it's on PC and PS3 too, and it's not even that great. Why are you buying a system for just one game?"

"Because all my friends play it"

Thus it's circular. Everyone plays it because their friends play it, but there's no freaking reason (at least rooted in the minds of the people around me) as to why it's so important to own an Xbox, and it's kind of annoying.

If you like to play Halo, Alan Wake, Gears of War, Lost Odyssey, Forza, Project Gotham, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, or whatever have you, that's fine. But if you don't have a single clue as to why the freak you're buying a system besides "oh it has this one game" you're the piss awful shining example of mass market consumerism stupidity that just goes with the flow.

Who would buy a Console for one game? *hides BbS PSP Bundle* Not counting that. I bought the Xbox 360 for several reasons. I just mentioned Alan Wake because it came with my Xbox, and i happen to like the game.

I dont think he really means you, just what you said. You have your reasons for buying a 360.

But to the OP, like Dogen said find reasons for wanting a 360 or PS3. I wanted a PS3 at first but then my friends bought a 360 so I gave in and got one too. After more than a year I only had enough money to buy 3 games and 4 to 6 months of Live. I sold it back in August and got a PS3 about 2 months later, I dont gotta worry about monthly fees to play online, I like the exclusives which im gonna buy real soon, I have a lot of RL friends on my list, I bought 4 games since I got it, internet browser, its great, I play it daily, and more. The ONLY downside is no cross game chat in my opinion. So just think about what you really want before buying a PS3 or 360.

Since there are many cons to both, I will just state the pros:

PS3
-Full HD 1080p Graphics
-Blu-ray player (at no extra charge; upscales DVD quality, too)
-Wi-Fi on all versions (I believe)
-Game library (exclusives mainly consist of action, rpg, and some shooters)
-PSN
-XMB (Cross Media Bar)
-Opening music (ok, now i'm just looking for things :D)
-2011=Year of the PlayStation

360
-Avatars
-Xbox Live (Although XBL and PSN are generally the same, I guess they eally put an emphasis on online)
-Games on Demand
-Facebook
-Game library (Exclusives mainly consist of shooters)
-Controller
-Cross-game chat
-Kinect (though, if you're alone, its no fun, so unless you have parties every day...)
-Old models $90-$150 at GameStop

Personally, I like the PS3 better, but my 360 does get played, too. I would go with the PS3. Much more large and diverse selection of games, from Uncharted 2, to Killzone 3, to Gran Turismo 5, the list goes on, and on...and on...
