From what we've seen so far, Axel and Lea both ended up joining the Organization after getting consumed by the blitzballblitzballblitzballblitzballblitzballblitzballblitzballblitzball. Meanwhile Xion fused with Roxas, who then returned to Sora, who then met PHO, and eventually, Axel, who joined his side in the end.
So, the question is: Did Nomura intend to make seasalt icecream an allusion to the paopu fruit?
