Hey there everyone! I've been widely interested in this game for a while now, and Sony shipping a demo and pirate flag to me only increased that exitement. Now that the game is out, how good is it exactly? I'm seriously considering picking this one up but it would be nice to hear from the one's who have actually played/beaten it. Is it better than Dark Cloud 2? Thanks guys! ^^

I own Rogue Galaxy.

Blows KHII out of the water. ( Although that isn't necessarily hard. )

Combat really shines, and just when things start to get boring, it adds another feature which adds to the freshness and interactivity of battle.

A paragon of what RPG's should be gameplay-wise.

Music is okay, character voices are okay, and the plot is passable.

I like it. ;3

Sounds like Dark Chronicles to me. It works the same, you see.

Just when things were looking a bit too boring, there was added a new gameplay element. The music was okay, the character voices were good and the plot was okay... Lol, exactly the same.

Still, this is a game for me, for sure. I love Level 5.

Rogue Galaxy is by far one of the greatest RPG's for the Ps2, far better then FF12. The only thing that stop it from being the greatest RPG ever is the story. It's not bad but it's just nothing new. I enjoyed it and did love it at some times, but it's nothing revolutionary and it's pretty easy to guess some of it.

The game is pretty long 35-40 hours normally but the fact that everything optional is so addictive makes the game perfect. From hunting monsters to leveling up your weapons so you can make one of the hundreds of possible weapons through synthesis (which is easy and fun, hard to screw it up since unless its a one-time weapon, it will ALWAYS get stronger) and creating items in your factory, the game is just amazingly fun.

I love the technique set up. It's both time consuming and very rewarding. The game is VERY hard at first, and will require you to do some leveling up. You'll also be afraid to open chests in the game... Freaking Mimics....

My favorite option is costumes and the New Game Plus which lets them (and only them) carry over. A problem I had was I really disliked Jasters main outfit, once I got the Jungle one though, I loved using him. I thought he look really cool in it, same with other characters. The fact that the outfit and weapon the character has changes the cutscene makes it fun too. Now I don't have to worry about an ugly character because 90% of the time there is a costume for them you will like.

This game is fun! I skipped cutscenes, some were important, so I got lost. Its definatly better than dark cloud 2, because its not one of those, 30 some plus floored dungeons, and your weapons don't break. Plus, you've got a party, instead of one guy on the screen. Its definatly worth a buy. I'd buy it, but my money is short, so right now, I mooch gameplay off of my friend when I come over to his house.

For the time I've put in on it, I'd say FFXII is a better game, but Rogue Galaxy takes the cake for Action RPGs.

It got above average reviews, but not OMGWTF. They say its a really big game, with a lot of features, but all of it has been done before. <_<; Least that is what I got from IGN and Gamespot.

So ya its a good game. xD

Ya.

It feels like they threw elements of Dark Cloud, Dragon Quest VIII, Final Fantasy XII, Kingdom Hearts and came out with something that is wholly worthwhile.

See I disliked FF12 for the main reason that with this huge world full of different races they use ONE (which looks like a human) and a bunch of humans as your main characters. They lacked any real personality and the game itself had horrible and undeveloped story. I just disliked the whole story in the game, I found Rogues (while rather bad in its own way) better then 12. Plus actually fighting and not programing your characters to do stuff helped as well. XD

FFXII had an excellent plot; it just wasn't spoonfed to you like every other JRPG that's been out recently. Those who knew that Matsuno was helming the development knew that they'd be getting a story filled with political intrigue rather than a cliche Heero/Relena love story. Matter of fact, FFXII's backstory was developed very well, through the bestiary. It provided a lot of interesting information about Ivalice in that era. And besides, FFXII has an event-driven plot rather than a character-driven plot. The goal is to free Dalmasca from Archadia ( and the Occuria ), not to save the world again.

In that respect it does so wonderfully.

Rogue Galaxy, while fun to play, the characters make me roll my eyes yet again. The characters seem to be designed around typical cliche game/anime roles and the dialogue reflects this immensely. It's like, here's the main character and he acts like almost every other cliche JRPG hero. Here's the heroine, she acts like every other cliche JRPG heroine. And so on down the line.

FFXII's Gambit system was a lot more fun when you spent some time learning the ins and outs of playing with Gambits. Moreover, the Gambit system is totally optional in the fact that if you wish to micromanage to your heart's content, you can. In that, it becomes a traditional Final Fantasy. And I've said this before: even the developers acknowledge that the Gambit system is there to aid the player in the immense amount of micromanaging they'd have to do otherwise. I'd challenge you to take on Yiazmat without using Gambits and see how many more hours the fight takes you. Gambits come with the territory of having such a dynamic version of the ATB system.

What they have lots of personality, and this time the story isn't a sappy ass love story. And you don't have to use gambits you can tell them to attack yourself.

Yeah, because that's really fun and not a total drag... The games made for Gambits, the fact that all the decent gambits aren't given to you till the end of the game makes it retarded as well.

"Hey you like magic? Yeah well offensive magic is useless, use melee weapons and we won't give you any magic gambits that are useful to the end of the game. LAWLZ!"

Sappy ass love story? Yeah, because it's that not the cliche characters which ruin a game? Sorry but between Vann's "Hey I'm just tagging along because I want to be a Sky Pirate and you killed my brother!" storyline and Frans "No one in my village liked me so I left" storyline, I really didn't care. FF12 may have had a great story out side of characters but when it came back to that it was a joke... All these villains like Vayne and the awesome judges... Seriously, could you make a better villain and make a bunch of jokes out of them? Sorry but the story was a joke, boring and uninteresting... Almost no development either.
