It has come to my attention that alot of main characters from various Final Fantasy games, have names related to nature.
We see Terra from Final Fantasy 6, whose name represents nature, of some sort.
Cloud, from Final Fantasy 7. A very obvious name.
Squall, from Final Fantasy 8. A name that is closely related to rain.
Zidane, from Final Fantasy 9, had no relation to any natural phenomenon, unless I'm mistaken, or Tetsuya really saw that head butt against Metarezzi 7 years prior.
Tidus, from Final Fantasy 10, a name related to Tsunami and Tidal Waves.
Lightning, from Final Fantasy 13. Though not a main character, it's worth pointing out.
Now let's take a look into the world of Kingdom Hearts, and their very cheesy names.
At first I did not notice, but I watched an anime by Ken Akamatsu called Ground Defence Force Mao Chan. Two of the main cast ( Old generals, and also RIVALS) had a name Sorajiro, and the other, Rikushiro. Sorajiro was the main general of the SKyDefence Force, while Rikushiro was in charge of the Ground Defence Force. Both had names that related to their fields. At one point the subber named Rikushiro as "Mr. Ground" when they called him Mr Riku. That is when I discovered a pattern.
Sora's name means Sky, another part of nature, and explains his carefree nature.
Riku's name represents Earth, which explains his tough build and determination.
Kairi, represents LIGHT. Kairi is a name that had been heavily used throughout all animes that involve girls and light. HIKARI, the song by Utada Hikaru, ALSO means LIGHT (I must say, I once cringed at the sight of a few ignorant forumers I spotted debating and arguing, and laughing about "why they mixed up "Hikaru and Hikari" wrong, then acted as if it's true.) In Rockman Exe, one of the OVAs is called Hikari to Yami. Which means "Program of Light to Darkness".
If you see anyone new in Kingdom Hearts by the name Yami, now that's just cliche.
Now we move on to Xehanort. His name is rearranged to form No Heart X.
Xemnas is rearranged to form Ansem X.
Roxas to Sora X.
Namine to Anime N (Alright, it was a joke.)
Axel to? Ale? Alex?
Saix to? Sai?
My question is:
- How many of you noticed this earlier
- How many of you did not notice this earlier
- Do you find it pointful or pointless to debate about it?
- Do you feel uncomfortable that some people do not know about it that you want to inform them just to make your life easier?
- what other characters have Subliminal Meanings in their names?
and
- How do you find it interesting about subliminal messages hidden in names?
