Somewhere between here and nowhere
In a land untouched by man, two tribes have waged war since ancient times. However within the last 500 years a form of peace has been formed. Every 50 years the two tribes would send their strongest warrior to battle to see which tribe would have political dominance over the other.

Situation// You two are a mythical creature of your choice(ex.vampires, werewolves, fairy's, and shasquash) choose from any part of the worlds lore. what ever you choose is what your tribe shall be. what ever weaknesses that the creature possesses will be you characters weakness so try not to choose something that has to many weaknesses.

Location// The battle takes place in a dark forest a fog is constant in this forest. Overlooking the forest is two Gothic style castles, each one is the home of the two tribes. With in this forest the trees span far into the sky some as tall as skyscrapers, this forest is home to many different types of flora some harmless, beautiful and some deadly to be near. There is 3 rivers that flows through the forest and a network of catacombs deep within ground. Beware though entering the catacombs has the risk of attracting the undead that wander throughout the many passageways.

Time condition// The time of day for the brawl is at the dead of night during a full moon so make use of the night because within 12 posts for each rper the time of day will shift. This also will continue on back into the night cycle with the 24th post.

Weapons// Keep the tech level at 1800's and below however light magical weaponry and abilities are allowed ( so elemental control and other small time powers, nothing too big such as time and space manipulation).

Re: [R3-B7] Key Vs. Tenyas

Huh. This sounds pretty neat. I'll get a template up soon. :D

Quick question, do the creatures we use have to be humanoid? I'm not planning to use something crazy like a dragon or chimera, but would something like a Naga be okay?

Re: [R3-B7] Key Vs. Tenyas

Name: Tratser eth Dia

Appearance:
Spoiler Spoiler Show

His scaled hide has the texture of a serpent's. Vines grow from his forehead and down along his spine, branches of the hardiest wood you'll ever see sprouting as horns. Lacking back limbs, Tratser fully compensates for the lack of grabbing digits with a strong spine and tail that are fully flexible enough to do the job themselves. Large, sturdy, wings allow him to take flight when needed and can be tucked in tightly to his sides while slithering about the woods.

His saliva is like that of a komodo dragon's, not toxic in of itself but, filled with enough bacteria to where a single bite could lead to a lethal infection within the victim.

When it comes to scale, Tratser spans around 40 feet in length and has a wingspan of around 30 feet fully stretched, from fingertip to fingertip. The girth of his stomach is 8 feet at its thickest, about his chest. The durability of his hide is enough to withstand arrows and simple earthen materials like scratchy rock and thorns, but blades are the bane of his existence.

Personality: Tratser is quite the eloquent speaker, ever accurate with his grammar. But, when it comes to emotional responses, he normally invokes violent ones within those who happen to be caught in the butt end of his jokes. Very witty and a bit of a liar, it is a wonder why his tongue is not silver from the tales he weaves.

He is respectful of those allied with him and shows some modesty towards any who are his enemy. He isn't beyond pulling a cheap blow, but he will cease his actions if there is no reason to continue a battle already won. If you have infuriated him, however, the end will be slow to come and you will wish you'd sooner jumped off a cliff. It's a good thing he's normally a great sport when it comes to fighting.

Abilities: Tratser has a very deep relationship with the local flora, some of it growing from his very skin. As such, he is able to manipulate it to a point, using its energy to heal himself or utilize it as both a barrier and a weapon. The uses are limited to his strength, however, and the more tired he is the less he is able to control the earthen bounties. He also requires physical contact in order to fully utilize a plant, although being close can garner minor results.

Naturally, he has excellent camoflauge for the area as well as a body structure that enables him to move quickly and elegantly through the canopy and caves of the forest, but he is not nearly as speedy when in the air, his bulk rather hefty and difficult to accelerate through the skies.

Clan: He is of a race of flying serpents collectively known as Dragons, related to the subspecies of ampthiptere and wyvern. Most commonly within these woods live the ampths, some gaining the traits that you can see within Tratser. Tratser himself had been chosen for this battle for his relationship with plant-life, an ability that few others of his kind had, although it was not unheard of, along with his mixed heredity with a wyvern, a cross that gifted him two usable limbs and bat-like wings.

Tell me if there's anything that needs to be changed~.

lol, i would surmise that especially if u were choosing something small, well u could do something physically weaker than a dragon but have something that could stand up to it.

Yeah, I just need to change up some of my fighter's abilities and he'll be all set... the way that I had him set up, he would have been crushed in an instant. XD We gotta have a good right, no? Curbstomp fights are no fun.

Heh, sorrz 'bout that, Key. ^w^; Didn't mean to make him too intimidating. Although, with large sentient reptiles, I think some intimidation is required.

Totally understandable, I have a ton of dragon characters that are similar. XD I just wanna make sure my guy can give you a good fight, you know? Anyways, here we go:

Name: Zylif Idoor

Spoiler Spoiler Show

Smooth scales cover the entire length of the reptilian warrior's body, the bright colors serving as a warning to others--he has strength, and he knows how to use it. Long talons end in sharp claws, and his jaws are full of pointed fangs which contain a potent venom. The venom can kill most smaller creatures, including humans, but its effect is diluted the larger the victim is, ranging from intense pain to numbness to a mild stinging to the largest opponents.

From the end of his snout to the tip of his tail, Zylif is about 25 feet long, and towers over any human when standing at his full height. Though rather large in size, he can move about rather quickly, both on the ground and in the trees, able to cross large distances in a comparatively short amount of time.

Personality: Zylif is not one for conversation, choosing to express his thoughts through his actions, however ambiguous they may be--a raising of the eyebrow, a quiet hiss, things of the sort. He is not easily irritated, but one can expect a violent response if you manage to piss him off.

He is an honorable warrior, preferring to show himself to his enemies before challenging them, in order to make the battle at least somewhat fair, but when he gets into a serious fight, he does not hold back, using all of his skills to his advantage.

Abilities: Even with his bright coloration, Zylif is adept at using the forest to his advantage, using the shadows to conceal himself from enemy eyes. From his hiding spots, he will lunge forward at high speeds and catch his enemies by surprise.

He has mastered minor forms of healing magic and is able to quickly heal small wounds, but it takes much longer to heal larger injuries. He is also a skilled wielder of the Naginata, which he uses against larger or more powerful enemies.

Clan: Zylif belongs to a race known as the Naga, which appear to be a cross between snakes and humans, though no one really knows their true origin. Their appearance tends to waver between mostly snake and mostly human, but Zylif leans more towards the snake side. He was chosen for this battle due to his fighting skills and his ability to hide mostly anywhere, something that many other Nagas lack.

Would you like to have the honor of beginning this battle, Tenyas? :)

OOC:*cracks knuckles* A'ight, lets get this parteh started~. Ouch, my writing hands...
----------------------------------

The forests were calm this time of night, the moon high in the sky and dripping its light upon the land like a slowly melting ball of ice. A thick canopy blotted out the stars to all who were below. Vines ensnared vines, branches about the trunks of other trees, twining into an intricate web of flora. One would think there would not be much of a breeze in such a covered place, but thanks to the existence of many caves that criss crossed the underground realm of the forest, a gentle wind blew across the leaves and thorns, introducing fresh air.

Tonight was a special night. It was the night of the fulfillment of the treaty made five centuries ago between the Naga and the Amphithera, the night held once every fifty years where two warriors, both strong and intelligent in the ways of battle, were sent out to fight it out on a night of the full moon to decide who would be in control of society for the next fifty years.

It had been the Naga who had been in power for the past five decades and, although they were fair for the most part to the Amphs who were only required to limit how much they fed their ravenous bulk, there was still the underlying need to do this blood-sport. For, while the Naga were somewhat kind, the Amphithera still held deep issues over their loss long ago and for the past century control had been given to the Naga due to losses. This year would hopefully be different. The Dragons were itching to rise up out of their own castle and spread into the caves and the trees once more, to lavish in the Earth's bounty that the Naga limited to them for fear they would engulf it all.

Thus, Tratser slithered along the basin of the Forest, armored head brushing aside the normally annoying vines as if they were no more than simple spider's silk in the way of an elephant. He was one of very few Dragons who had ever developed a strong elemental affinity to where he could actually harness the power of it through will power alone. This was mainly why he had been chosen. Other things that influenced the almost unanimous decision [almost due to the great competitiveness amongst them] to choose Tratser had been his size along with his strong bat-wings and front limbs, something many Amphitheras lacked that he had gained through sharing some heredity with a Wyvern.

He was to be facing the symbol of Pride of the Naga, their greatest warrior they could muster after already having a century of dominance. A serpentine smile graced his scaled lips, pinkish purple tongue flicking the air. Yes, this would be a very interesting night.

It was the perfect night for a duel. Clear skies, cool air, it was absolutely perfect. Zylif slithered through the forest to the meeting point, the place where the battle would begin. After this, the rest of the forest was fair game.

Hearing a rustling in the distance, he stopped, holding his weapon close, and flicked his serpentine tongue out to scent the air. He frowned-- it tasted of Dragon. His opponent was closer than he realized. The Naga quickly coiled around the closest tree, moving from branch to branch, up as high as he could go while he could still see the ground. He wasn't expecting an ambush from an Amphithera, but he was better safe that sorry.

Hidden up in the dense branches, the Naga warrior silently watched his opponent approach him. He was a fearsome foe indeed, a Dragon bigger than any Amphithera he had seen. His thin lips curled upwards into a smirk as the dragon crept closer. This would most definitely be a battle worth remembering. Holding his weapon tightly, Zylif slipped down from the tree, down from the canopy onto the ground below. Whatever light filtered down through the dense foliage glinted off his smooth scales, turning them almost silver in the moonlight.
As was custom for Nagas, he bowed to his opponent, holding the Naginata out to the side as he called out to his opponent:

Welcome, Dragon!

Tratser lifted his head and tracked the movements of the red, black, and white Naga as it slid down from its perch. He noted that his opponent was a weapon carrier, something you could see with many Naga, but his choice of weapon was interesting. A sort of medium length blade attached to a mid-sized handle, the blade itself angled in such a way to make interesting wounds if it did hit. The coloration of the Naga himself was a give-away for poisonous properties, Eth Dia was no idiot when it came to that even if he had an affinity for bright flora anyway.

The greeting was cordially given by the Naga, bowing and holding his weapon to the side, clear for him to see. Tratser nodded, violet eyes shutting for a moment as his scaled brow dipped. "Hello to you too, Naga. Your weapon is admirable, I look forward to seeing how you use it, rare as such things are amongst my people." The rarity of hand-held weaponry amongst Amphs was a given, seeing as how a majority didn't have hands. Instead, many specialized in armors of a sort, strapped on plates of thorns and knife-like points used for offense. Tratser hadn't thought of such things as fair, however, and none were made for his size. His fascination with them was still genuine, even if he had a snarky streak.

"I am titled Tratser Eth Dia of the Drackorsa." His neck raised up, just high enough to be on level with the Naga and to rest some of the weight upon his arms. A polite smile, at least in reptilian ways, crept to his lips. "Before we begin, I wish to know of your name and family." It was only manners, really. Among Amphitheras, it was customary to know the name and origin of whomever you fought, leading to some rather fascinating stories of a Dragon stalking their rival for weeks before confronting them. It was so much simpler to just ask for a name these days.

After all formalities were over and done with, however, the battle would begin for the moon was waning and there was still a title to be won.

Zylif straightened out and listened intently as the Dragon introduced himself, already having been informed of the Amphithera's long-winded introductions. When Naga duel, they simply bow, and begin their battle immediately, saving the formalities for after the victor had been decided--if it wasn't a fight to the death, that is.

When the Dragon asked for his name, he allowed a small smile to creep into his own lips before he answered. "I am Zylif Idoor, Elder Warrior of the Fulvia." It was obvious that the Naga was proud of his title, on he had earned for himself--the Fulvia were among the most savage and physically powerful of the Naga, and defeating one in battle often earned one a great honor. He, however, has been undefeated for years, all who challenged him were doomed to fail.

"The moon wanes, Traster Eth Dia," he continued, bringing his weapon forward into a battle position, holding it with both hands. "Let us commence."

OOC: I kinda got inspired and started drawing a picture. ^^; I'll post it up after the winner is decided. :)

"Let us commence."

The serpent took on a battle stance, wielding his weapon proudly, and Tratser smiled widely, a hissing chuckle rising from his chest. "Let's."

With a cracking of wood and membrane clapping like fabric, Tratser had risen off of the ground and broken through the canopy, slithering into the sky itself. The night was already beginning to slip away and Eth Dia was determined to claim dominance for his people. His long, sinuous, form trailed along like kite-tails upon a string, only the string pulling in this case was his wings beating at the air for lift. It wasn't easy, lifting up a bulk like his with any kind of speed.

Which was why he wasn't planning on staying aerial for long.

With a twist, the thorned brow of the green dragon pointed towards the ground and, in a breath-taking nose-dive he sped back towards the ground where the Naga likely stood. This time, the canopy of the trees opened up instead of being broken, influenced by the thoughts being pressed upon them from the dragon. As the maw of the forest widened, the serpent flew in at high speeds, eyes lighting up from both the dim light of the moon and from the anticipation of a grand fight. His wings folded to his side and his jaws snapped thrice at where he remembered the red, black, and white snake being before aiming his momentum into a forward drive, sliding further into the forest and pressing the vines of it against his skin like a blanket, both slowing him down and creating some sort of netting upon his form.

OOC: Ooh. owo I look forward to seein' it~!

Zylif held his weapon ready as the Dragon launched his massive form into the air. The diving attack was one he was greatly familiar with, having taken great care to educate himself in the battle tactics of the Amphithera before going out into battle--he could also tell that Traster had to put forth a great deal of effort into getting himself airborne. He waited for the his opponent to come crashing back down--he, however, was not expecting the canopy to open up in the dragon's wake.

The Naga barely had enough time to react as Traster came speeding down from the heavens, managing to move aside and out of the path of the Dragon before his jaws clamped shut on his head. He watched the Amphithera create a netting for itself with contempt--this was to be a more challenging opponent than he originally thought.

Beginning to devise a plan, the warrior began to climb the nearest tree, slithering up along the side of it and helping himself along with his free arm, Naginata ready at his side. He could not allow the Dragon to gain a height advantage over him again.

Tratser's violet eyes focused on the slithering Zylif, two pinpoints of light in the dark tangle of vines. The Naga had wizened up a bit thanks to the attack from above and, having scarcely dodged that, decided it to be much safer higher up in the trees. It certainly would be a smart move for any warriors in a normal battle. But this was not a normal fight.

The dragon smirked and blew gently upon the ground, staring intently at where the Naga sat. It took a fair amount of concentration and eye-contact to just influence a plant to his whims. It was far easier to do it through physical contact, but whatever means fulfilled his ends was worth it.

Within moments, the bark of the tree was beginning to form points, rough and sharp like over-sized thorns. The change in texture was concentrated where the coils of Zylif lay, angles jutting inward to pierce his hide.

If the Naga leapt from his perch, Tratser was still within his own element, secure. He was confident that he could take whatever this snake could dish out.

As Zylif climbed, he felt the bark of the tree slowly become sharp--realizing what the Dragon was attempting to do (smart little Amph, isn't he?), he tries to think of a new plan.

The Naga quickly slithered out onto a thick branch, already feeling the sharp thorns scratching at his scales, and took his weapon in his jaws. Grabbing the branch with both arms, he released the tree and swung his coils towards another tree, one outside Traster's influence, wrapping them around the trunk, and allowing the rest of his body to follow. Without taking the weapon out of his mouth, he immediately leaped onto another tree, noting that it took some time for the dragon to move the plant life--if he kept moving, it would be harder for Traster to attack.

So, Zylif wished for this to be a game of cat and mouse? So be it.

Tratser slithered and dragged himself out of his blanket of vines, many of the tendrils still clinging to his back as if they were natural constructs of his own skin. He chased after the Naga and, upon reaching the tree the serpent had just touched down upon, twirled once about the trunk of the aged wood and tightened his coils about it.

Violet eyes flashed and, in moments, the boughs of the plant were plying and whipping at the red, black, and white Naga, many with the speed of a well trained fighter and gripping just as tight for his form. A couple of the vines upon his back stretched across Tratser's brow and scrabbled up the tree, making like darts for Zylif's weapon as if it were concentrated sunlight nirvana. They made to grab, just like the branches of the tree, only for his weapon.

Tratser was not a fool. He'd sooner have his tail scalped of its scales before foolishly diving head-first towards an armed Naga.

Zylif knew there would be no escape when he felt the tree begin to rebel against him. He only had a split second to make his decision, life or death.

He clawed at the tree's attacking branches, slicing through them with ease using his sharp talons, and when Traster's vines darted for his weapon, he released it without resistance. Instead, he followed the direction the weapon was pulled in, and leaped after it, dropping from the tree like a rock, straight for the dragon. It was a desperate move, he knew that, but he didn't have many other choices. He only hoped the dragon would be caught off-guard.

He came straight for him.

That would be one of his last movements upon this earth if he could not think of a better method of retaliation.

The vines that had clawed away Zylif's weapon flung it away, entrenching it deep and out of sight into the forest. He should not have relinquished it so easily. It would have served him well in the after life.

Tratser would not recoil. He was larger, a bulky amphitheric wyvern with enough muscle to hold his own against any of his rougher cousins. An unnarmed Naga half his size, with skin no thicker, would not be enough to frighten him out of a face to face duel. Sure, the weapon had put him off from it before, but now they were on grounds where he didn't need the aid of his manipulation of flora anymore. They both had venom of a sort, Zylif's likely in the form of toxins and Tratser's in the form of bacteria. The dragon's maw opened wide and snapped, like a crocodile upon a bird that had flown too close and pestered too much. If the serpent evaded that attack, two taloned arms reached forward and grabbed at red, black, and white coils with the aims of tearing, claws clutching and making to rip and shred.

T'wasn't honorable amongst dragons to die looking as if you hadn't been struck at all. The more worn, the more noble you had been. It was only polite to aim to give Zylif his battle marks.
