Questions about playing Rechains of Memorie and Birth By Sleep.

I'm a fan of the Kingdom Hearts series ever since the first Kingdom Hearts.

I hope we can be friends

I'm almost done with Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, and my next game is Kingdom Hearts: Rechains of

Memories, and after Kingdom Hearts 2 final mix it's Birth By Sleep. I have some questions

about these two games' gameplay as well as other things:

1- I heard that rechain of memories is a turn-based RPG, like Final Fantasy 10, is that true ?

And if so, is it as complex as the Final Fantasy games ?

Also, can you give me some tips on how to boost Sora's abilities, HP, and MP ?

2- When I play birth by sleep, is there an order for which character to play first because I heard you

need to play as all three characters to get the secret ending.

3- Do I need to get the Ultima weapon in every kingdom hearts game to get the secret ending ?

4- This is a plot-related question and it's out of curiosity, in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix there are

heartless called "Angel Star", are these guys actual angels that became heartless ?

Hi there, welcome to the forums. In terms of helping you out, I can help you with Birth by Sleep since I recently completed that game. The order of the character's is Terra, Ventus then Aqua. That's because, Terra visit's the Disney worlds first, followed by Ventus chasing Terra and Aqua chasing the both of them.

Truth be told, you can start with whoever you like, but going with the order of Terra, Ventus, Aqua is best off because it gives a more understanding context of the cutscenes in the game.

1.- It its not a turn based, it is just weird. You play just like the regular games, but instead of the commands (to attack, use spells... uknow) you have a deck of cards. You get a few cards in moogle shops or dropping in the scenario and make your own deck. Each card shows a keyblade and a number. The number shows priority on your attacks, if your enemy shows a card with a higher number, yours will be cancelled. That's got an explaining in game, dont worry

For having a good time playing CoMit is important you know that by regular attacks you can only do Kingdom Key's regular combo, wich is 3 attacks and so, 3 cards. I would say it is way harder than FFX. You will either find it hard and hateful wich is the most likely thing or love it.
Also, i think the best way is to level up HP in even numbersand attack in odd numbers. In lvl 2 you would upgrade your DMG and in 3 your HP. Also everytime you can, get a new ability regardless of wich level it is.

2. Think Nomura has said the best way to understand the history well is Terra, then Ven then Aqua, but it doesnt really matter. I did Aqua Ven Terra in my first time playing.

3. You do need Ultima weapon in KH1 at least. In KH2 im not really sure but as you need to defeat the hardest bosses i would get it.
4. Its unknown but i would say it is just their name.

1. Both Chain of Memories and it's remake, Re:Chain of Memories are not turn-based rpgs but real-time card battles. You have a deck (which can be customized) containing Attack, Magic, and Item cards. Each card is ranked from 0 to 9. Playing a card with a higher number than the opposition will cancel their attack and briefly stun them. Playing the same number simply cancels both attacks, and playing a lower-numbered card while the opponent's high card is in play has no effect. However, 0 cards can cancel any number as long as the 0 card was played second, otherwise, being a 0, it gets broken if a higher ranked card is used against it. Making the zero both the strongest and weakest number. You can also stack cards together (which will combined the cards' numbers) to use special attacks called "Sleights" (like the term "sleight of hand".)

"Complex"? It depends, really. Neither version of the game gives the best tutorial, so while you can get by well enough early on with what little info it gives you, the difficulty will eventually spike and it will hit you hard because the game didn't prepare you properly. But a little practice goes a long way in this game.

As for tips in leveling, Sora's only stats are HP and CP (card points.) Upon leveling up, you have the option to raise one of them or learn a new Sleight. My advice is to max out CP as soon as possible as Card Points dictate the number of cards that be put into a deck.

2. Yes, you do need to play as all three in order to get the secret ending (and to understand the whole story.) There is a bit of an order for what characters to play first. Terra is officially the first character one should start with, but Ventus also works as the first. And never, never pick Aqua first. She should be played last. So my advice is start with either Terra or Ventus and save Aqua for last.

3.I'm not sure.

4. Nope! Or at least nothing has ever been said that the Angel Stars come from specific people (angel or otherwise.)

Like Desii said, the Ultima Weapon obviously helps you beat the game's challenges, but it isn't strictly necessary. In fact, I don't believe it's necessary in KH1, either. Let's be clear: No game specifically says "Get the Ultima Weapon to get the Secret Ending," but there may be games where you pick it up in the process of unlocking the secret ending.

Key_Holder, I'm going to take a closer look at this, but you don't need to read the rest, I just think you've raised an interesting question and wanted to investigate it.

Assuming we're talking about the remakes and not the originals...

KH1: If playing on Standard, you need to complete Jiminy's Journal. However, the Ultima Weapon is acquired via synthesis, and has no relationship to the Journal. If playing on Proud, you need to do even less. As such, I do not believe the Ultima Weapon is required for the secret ending in KH1.

CoM: While the Ultima Weapon does exist in CoM, CoM does not have a secret ending.

KH2: KH2 in the 2.5 HD release has two secret endings. The first ending does not require the Ultima Weapon in any difficulty. If playing on Standard or Proud, you need to complete Jiminy's Journal on your way to the second Secret Ending. This time, completing the Journal requires you complete the section called Synthesis Notes. Since the Ultima Weapon is acquired during this process, you must collect the Ultima Weapon if you want the Secret Ending in KH2 on Standard and Proud. However, you do not need to collect the Ultima Weapon on Critical, as it has lower requirements.

Days (DS): Days has neither the Ultima Weapon nor a Secret Ending in the traditional sense.

BBS: To unlock the secret ending in BBS, you must complete the criteria for each character based on their difficulty. In Standard, a character must complete their Report. The Ultima Weapon is acquired by clearing Villain's Vendetta in the Mirage Arena. Since the player must both reach Arena Level 30 and, once at Level 30, defeat No Heart to complete the Report, and since Villain's Vendetta must be completed to do the former, this means that a character playing on Standard must collect the Ultima Weapon on the way to the secret ending. Characters playing on Proud and Critical do not need to acquire the Ultima Weapon.

Re:coded (DS): To unlock the secret ending in Re:coded, you must acquire 20 of the 30 in-game Trophies. The Ultima Weapon factors into the Weapon Wizard Trophy, but the player can acquire the secret ending through other means, and does not strictly require the Ultima Weapon.

Re:coded (2.5HD): Oh please. The Ultima Weapon does not appear in this version, and the Secret Ending is acquired by watching the entire film.

DDD: Below Critical difficulty, the secret ending of DDD is unlocked by acquiring a certain number of Trophies, varying by difficulty. In the remake, the Ultima Weapon factors into the Keyblade Conquerer Trophy but is still not strictly required to unlock the secret ending. The secret ending is unlocked by default in Critical.

0.2: 0.2 has neither the Ultima Weapon nor a Secret Ending in the traditional sense.

Good catch! Following up on that, in coded, the Journal refers to them as "angels" with scare quotes, as though the idea of them actually being some kind of real angel is sarcastic.
