Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix + is on the PS2, but it's got a region lock so an american
PS2 will not play it (according to wikipedia). Is there a way to break a PS2 region lock
i.e.: some type of item I can buy on ebay?

Or you could obviously chip the console to achieve this (albeit you'd probably have to ask a specialist to do this, and it voids warranty)

You can also softmod and use an application called Cogswap to play imports, but you need Codebreaker 8+ or Action Replay in order to get the softmod onto your memory card.

Thanks for the info...
will this mess up the PS2 or game?

If you do it wrong, yes.

I've only had experience with the Slide Card tool, that is needed if you have a "fat" PS2 along with the actual Swap Magic disc. To use the Slide Card you need to take off the front cover of the disc tray. Of course one can screw up there.

Otherwise, with the actual use of the software I don't think anything big can go wrong.
