..... so.

Recently my ffxii disk stopped working. Whenever I play it, my damn ps2 says to please insert a ps or ps2 disk. My ffxii is indeed a genuine ps2 disk. Other games work fine so its just this one. I take great care of the game and it bears only minor scratches. I am very frustrated......

anyone willing to help....

Well, if it's only that one disc...then sad to say it seems like your disc is busted. You could always try "repairing" it with one of those scratch removing tools like Disc Doctor, but those never seem to work. I'm quite sure FF XII isn't on a DVD-9, so it's not an issue with your PS2 losing its ability to read dual-layer discs either.

You should try in on a friend's console.

Then you can see if it's a problem with the disc or your system. Mostly I get such errors when there's a lot of dust inside of my PS2, and I just open it up and clean a little.

I doubt this is the case with yours though. You should think of buying a new copy.

Hmm I had a similar problem with God of War, in the end I was able to fix the problem by taking a Q-Tip and putting a bit of alcohol on it and polishing my laser/lens, thing, but I think that this was a common problem with God of War because it's such a fat disk.

It is an issue with God of War. Some older PS2s have issues with reading dual-layer discs, which GoW and GoW 2 are. Most developers try to avoid making dual-layer PS2 games, but those God of War guys think they're hot shit so they do whatever they want. Not to say God of War isn't a good game. It's damn fun.
