what one single game that you prize the most, would you recommend someone to play? It doesn't matter what form of RPG you play, MMORPG's etc. it doesn't matter.

Out of the few that i love the most, there's paper mario, final fantasy, and dragonquest, (never had the chance of playing Chrono Trigger, or Dragon warrior) but the one single game i'd recommend is "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King"

When you first look at it, yeah the graphics look kinda cheap, but the style itself is timeless. It's a traditional role playing game, with turn base action, and a leveling up system that upgrades after every battle, and you're even given choices between preferred areas of weaponry, so customization isn't exactly limited.

The land of the game are fully explorable, and once you get the ability to have a flying bird, the exploration expands beyond that. You'll find secret places, secret boss battles, and all that you can imagine jam packed for entertainment.

The characters are also funny in their own right, and the more you play the game, the more you gow accustomed to it. You obviously play the hero, so our basically put in his play position. His choices are your choices, and the outcome of those choices are all depending on you. This fits well for any fairytale or story where you always place yourself as the hero, though now days most game give you the chance to customize your character. In that right, it is a bit limited, but it's still good.

The game offers a lot of re-playability, so even after you finish it, there's an extra dungeon with stronger monsters. It actually doesn't just stop their, as you know when you go back to old areas in most RPG games, the enemies you once fought are now so weak. Well at one point in the game, some well strengthened monsters are unleashed into the world and no matter where you go, they pose a bit of a threat, so the game still keeps you on your toes even after the fact that you've grown so much stronger. Not to mention that the music is fantastic

The video goes great with the title considering I literally read it as porn instead of RPG...Anyway..

Never fully beat DQVIII but that game is seriously old school to the max, and could be a good and bad thing depending the way you look at it.. What this means is that the game doesn't let you bonk around. You can't beat the first boss until you're at least level 6, and even then you'll have to raise your tension to do any real damage. And little things such as inns not reviving dead characters can really tick you off. If you're not into old school style games, then stay away, other wise its a great game.

As for me, I'll go with Chrono Trigger. It was probably one the first games to change the outcome of future events depending on the actions you might have taken earlier in the game. Not to brag, but the game is flawless in every aspect especially if you're not into the whole turn based, random encounter rpg style. You're able to see enemies on screen and thus be able to avoid them if you please. The game is action based using the Active Time system akin to Final Fantasy games. The story is great spanning literally every possible era from the prehistoric age to the future. The characters music are lovable and memorable. And like the first game, the character designs were made by Akira Toriyama of Dragonball.

EDIT:I forgot to mention the many different endings in the game. They're kind of Metroid-esque in the sense that they're unlocked depend on what you do/haven't done.

I really want to play chrono trigger. Having emulator and playing it was fun and all, but i might just buy it for my DS. I just need to get it online since it's so rare in the stores. I think Dragon Quest is slowly moving in that direction. DQ 9 had enemies on screen and a lot of customization, but it was really lacking in story and adventure compared to DQ8. If they end up doing something similar with one the main consoles, i'd be extremely excited. I hear nothing but good from Chrono Trigger :)

Well I dont want to say Kingdom Hearts because I know ill get attacked by an idiot just because my opinion is different even though Kingdom Hearts is my favorite series of all time. So im gonna go for Person 4 because the series is so unique. You know its bad on a site when your afraid of getting bashed for liking something.

Dragon Age Origins. Has a lot of options, replay value, a long epic story, great characters, exciting gameplay, and you can fight dragons. You can fight DRAGONS! What is there not to love...except Jowan.

Legend of the dragoon for Playstation. It surpassed FF8 gameplay wise... but wasn't as good on graphics except in battle.

Final Fantasy IX.

Liek, seriously.

If you want to get to know Final Fantasy, that is a great way to be introduced to it, especially if you haven't ever gotten into the series before. It was the first one I really played and, even though I've been tinkering with it since I was a little kid, I'm always finding new things and still enjoying rediscovering things I'd forgotten.

Considering it was a ps1 game, it had far better graphics than most of the ps2 games that came out right after it. It also has a level of replayability for those who wish to find absolutely everything, like the secret, super hard, bosses and the full completion bonuses of the mini-games. There's also a charming story that'll keep you the entire time and pretty much every character, very colorful in their own way [even if cliche], gets their own little time in the spotlight. It's incredibly lengthy, though, so it'll definitely be something to keep you busy for a while. It's so worth it though. So, so, worth it.

Also, who can resist running around on your chocobo and teaching it how to fly? <3 Better than an airship.

Paper Mario: The thousand year door

I'm choosing this one because out of all the other ones its my favorite. I don't have much RPG's but the battle system and the story are all unique. The game's dialog is funny, and before each chapter you're in for a surprise. And even after you beat the story mode you can go to the 100 trials, try to get every badge, and there's a good number of sidequests to do and you can go back to each area and find something with one of your new abilities or party members you didn't have when you were in that area. Easily one of the best on the gamecube.

It has to be Persona 4. I went through hell to find this game and I'd go through hell and back all over again to find another game as unique as it. It feeds the JRPG player ever so perfectly. The battle system is simple, yet complicated. The story is deep, yet humorous. And the freedom and customization is just right. RPG perfection in my opinion.

Even though it has a cliche I hate (Silent protagonist DX) The story and battle system are pretty unique and worth a look.

I dont know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that since its release no other RPG has ever topped this, for me.

And I gotta go with the DS version, with its added content and all, made it even more amazing. The best experience I've had with an RPG.
