All i can stand from old movies is the comedies, and i don't think the godfather belongs in the old category.

Howard Hawk's Scarface (1932) is pretty cool, however it's not as good as the Al Pacino remake.

The Godfather is up there for sure. It is one of the rare few movies that have successfully pulled of more then one sequel.
