So I found my laptop that I lost about a year ago. It's really great, because I have been having to use everyone else's computers to get online.

The only problem is this thing is slooooooooooow.
I'm in the process of removing programs/downloads that I downloaded long ago that I have no need for.(Like Sony Vegas Pro 9...Why did I download that?)

Surprisingly, I haven't run into porn. Yes, I'm proud.

Anyways, I was wondering what would be the best way to get this thing cleaned out good to run like new again for free without having to clear out the whole system.

Thanks.

EDIT: I have another problem now, please refer to the third post.

So for some reason, when I hold shift and press some keys, it doesn't give me the symbol it's supposed to.

For example; Shift+2 is "
3-£
`-¬
'-@

And there are some others.
Does anyone know how to fix it?

What Paolo said, otherwise just keep clearing out crap you don't need. If you had a spare copy of windows, a reinstall would work the best. But I can see that isn't a route you want to take.

Format hard drive

Reinstall windows

I figured out the keyboard!
For some reason, my keyboard in the control panel was set to UK English instead of US English.

I don't even care, if they want it to be super cool, they should do that.

Yes I suggest this too.

It's an old computer and has nothing it right?

I suggest you look through and THINK CAREFULLY about the things you have installed you may wish to keep.
Don't forget an antivirus software of some time while you're at it.
