Re: Nomura discusses unlocking KINGDOM HEARTS 3s secret ending and future simultaneous releases
It's distressing to hear Nomura considering going back to the dark ages of early Japanese release just because of this incident. I myself can't fathom the idea of going back to having to be in this self-imposed blackout period for months just so Japan can have first crack. I'm disappointed in Nomura's attitude towards his Western fanbase (particularly since 60% of this franchise is based around Western animation), but I suppose I shouldn't be totally dumbfounded. Nomura, after all, is Japanese, and the Japanese have a very racist attitude towards foreigners, particularly Westerners. They see us as "other" and lesser than they are. So, it's not unrealistic that Nomura would bear stereotypical views about all Western people and paint us with broad strokes just because of the actions of a degenerate few.
All that being said, I am nonetheless elated to hear how much simpler it will be to unlock the secret ending in this game. I've always thought the secret endings were traditionally too difficult or cumbersome to unlock in the older KH games for people who just want to play on easier game modes. KH II was probably the worst offense—if you wanted the ending, and you were playing on Standard, you had to basically do EVERYthing, even beating all the Coliseum tournaments with high scores. It was a bit ridiculous. But I'm glad to see he's toned it down. The secret endings are, after all, some of the best stuff in any KH game, and most gamers should be afforded the opportunity to view it.
