i was thinking the same thing


for a point and shoot, which is what i'm assuming these were taken with, these are good.
but you over-process the images to try to create the same listful melancholic atmosphere for all of them.

Ok. so. since my photos are getting boring for some of you, i guess I will explain a little. im just an amateur which i am sure you all have already figured that out. when i got my camera, i didnt have models, weather was too cold for outside, everything was dead (bc it was end of fall) On top of that, i didnt go to places that i wanted to take photos. i didnt have time.

so while i waited for good weather and such, i took objects and took photos of that instead. i havent posted all of my photos yet, but i think they get better. so, i guess tea cups, roses, music, etc etc may get boring for some, but that is what i had at the time.

i have portraits and some nature photos (but they are kinda macro, so idk if you'd be too interested) but i just didnt show them yet. in due time.

also, i dont post everything here, more of my things are on dA. i will eventually post them here to show, but i dont think i will post portraits too much. just because. ^^;;

that said. i hope you understand. if not. ohwell.

well. i guess i get my inspiration all around me. books, movies, music. sometimes, or rather, all the time, im always thinking of ideas. when i come up with ideas, i write them down (i have a journal ;p) so whenever i have time, i'd take the photo.

sometimes when i look at something, i say "oh i know !" and get ideas from that.

for example. the photo i posted below, i saw this tea pot type thing and thought of Alice in wonderland. so i took a marker, wrote a quick message and took the shot.

but also. i think it's other things that make me have this need to do soemthing. i guess i took better photos later, of nature and ppl, but i'll post those in due time ;p

And. i hope ppl dont think that its the camera that makes one a good photographer. the camera doesnt tell me where to stand, what to do, etc. its just something i use. u kno what i mean? its not the camera. its the photographer. i think that ppl think that if they dont have a good camera, they cant be good. not true. at all.

That's like saying a batter can play baseball with a stick better than a bat.
I understand the entire, "I don't need a great camera to take great photos" argument, and it sits well with me, but you can't deny that a better camera build will consistently yield better results. Better photo processors, higher dynamic range, better low-light, etc. Point and click and (god forbid) superzoom cameras aren't bad at all, but once you take them off of a macro setting and move them more than six feet from your subject, then you're going to get noticeably worse results than if you were shooting with an slr/dslr.

and that doesn't even touch on the subject of lenses, which are easily a photographer's greatest tool, aside from his or her own intuition.

so, yeah, not having a dslr isn't a bad thing, but oftentimes you have to overcompensate for a camera's shortcomings by operprocessing in image processors, like Photoshop, paintshop, or picasa.
