Think about it, MX and Ven were the only ones to see Vanitas face. And that face was almost exactly Sora's.

It wouldn't mean anything though, because neither of them had met Sora as he was then let alone know what he would look like in another 10 years.

Except why'd Ven gasp when he saw Sora's face?
As Aquaman OS said they probably weren't shocked that he looked like Sora. If anything they'd be shocked that he looked different then Ven even if just slightly. The bigger question would be did Van look different at "birth" before Ven connected to Sora.
Edit: he might have been shocked to see a look alike starring back at him, he hadn't seen Sora yet

He probably was just a blank slate meaning that he didn't have a face.

It's a popular theory that Vanitas didn't have a face prior to Ven connecting his heart to Sora's.

I prefer this, i mean it makes more sense he'd look just like Ven with maybe black hair and yellow eyes.
First off, Ventus NEVER saw Sora's face. He only met his heart. And MX never met Sora in BBS.

Secret ending of BBS. Sora was in his physical state while Ven was a heart. And since Ven could obviously see he saw his face. Plus he merged with Soras heart, which is the data of everything that makes him Sora, his appearance, his personality etc.

the face hiding was more for the player than in-game. sora never met ven, and neither has MX. even if he has, i doubt he would have had a surprising reaction
So if this were the case, that'd possibly mean that KH2 Sora's appearance is a combination of KH1 Sora and Ven/Roxas. Maybe Roxas' light/darkness built up in Sora, causing this "fused" look?

Yet Sora is gonna meet MX , once he somehow free's Terra of him. And Ven's gonna meet him to, probably.

When Ven see's Sora, he'll probably start bugging out because he looks just like Vanitas.
If Ven and MX actually See Sora today, they may think he's Vanitas for a bit... but for Vanitas, they'd only be surprised he didn't look like Ven.
No KH1 Sora is Vanitas if he was one year younger.
What the heck? Sora doesn't look like he's fused with Ven and Roxas? It looks just like KH1 Sora except older and with new clothes.

That's true but there is a chance that Sora's look was influenced by Ven. When Sora is 4, his hair is down and in KH1 it's spikey. It seems far fetch but it's a possibility.

I REALLY think that's a HUUUGE stretch to say Ven changed Sora's look. And his hair was always spiky, it's just when he was a kid it was slightly lower. That's it.
I really don't think Nomura ever thought that far ahead although if someone ever asked him in an interview he may just make a stupid answer instead of saying "No" just to make the game look more interesting. For example "Why can't Xemnas use a keyblade" The easy answer would've been Xemnas doesn't have memories of a keyblade but to get people interested he says "He may have unintentionally used one"
