So im pretty sure im not the only one whos talked or thought of this, But with all the new additional characters that have and will obtain keyblades i was wondering how you guys think KH III would be played. Would it switch back to KH I / KH II style? just Sora and disney/side characters. Or do you think we'd see something more similiar to BbS or DDD's gameplay with multiple main characters with playable storylines. I personally would love to be able to play as each hero of light, even if some have shorter storylines then others. Sora's being the longest of course, along with Riku's hopefully. Then the others like Kairi, Axel, and whoever else we could possibly get have side stories where they each have a personal mission or objective they have to do of their own. Maybe Sora and Riku wont be the only ones taking out main bosses this time around. The other hero's of light and their "fill-ins" could each face one of the seekers of darkness on their own. I would love this. (well i'd love a kingdom hearts game no matter what xD) . Maybe we'd get a mix of the two and still be able to have the side support characters like Donald and Goofy and still be able to play as multiple characters. What do you guys think?

-This is my first thread. i hope i posted it in the right area and did whatever else right.

I'd like if they did something similar to 3D. Not exactly like the drop system, but have the ability to switch between characters in one file. And have each character have their own party. Sora would have Donald and Goofy of course, Riku could have Mickey, and pair Kairi and Axel together.

haha, i agree with you on this. Riku in DDD was my favorite and Aqua was mine in birth by sleep.

The reason I was so excited for BbS was because we got THREE (!!!) playable characters with totally different styles of fighting. It just has to happen again. I want my Sora/Roxas/Ven party to become a reality. Because the amount of ass they would kick would be an ungodly amount.

Congrats on your first thread, I'm hoping that Kingdom Hearts III will take a cue from BBS and that it will have multiple stories that you can play through for each main character such as SRK (Sora,Riku,Kairi) also some form of online multiplayer would be cool also.

Thank you. And yeah hopefully something like this will happen, one big main is great but i enjoy playing more then one. Makes the game feel longer even if it really isnt. lol. Online multiplayer would be pretty nice. Not sure if it'd be competitive battles or maybe having a friend jump in and play as one of the side charaters during the main game. have a donald that heals at the right time xD

I'd prefer single with getting a mini scenario at the most. I don't think KH ever balanced out having large scenarios well and I think it chops up the narrative oddly.

While single would have a more nostalgic feel, I'd still like to play as the other characters too.

The trashing Triplet-party, lol.
I would certainly want to try that one out, as well as going around with Riku, Terra and Mickey or Aqua, Kairi and Xion. ;)

Nostalgia is overrated anyways, they shouldn't subordinate everything just to please nostalgic feelings.

That said though, multiple scenarios carry the danger of getting way too confusing as the guys which Nomura hires as scenario writers aren't really known to be masters of a cohesive narrative with decent pacing.
So in the end a full-fledged party system would probably be the better solution with certain parts of the game giving you a pre-set party leader or even complete set party for certain story events.

I'd rather that while on your adventure, you run into the other lights on different worlds, as opposed to having to switch between multiple characters to fuck up the narrative.

Right?! I was trying to think of a witty name for it, but I kept coming up with names regarding their hairstyles. ;D

I would personally only want one playable character for KHIII. Why? Because I think the story will become better and less complicated that way. But I wouldn't mind them doing some sort of arena where you can play as different characters.

The narrative in KH 2 was already fucked up like that because they only focused on Sora, Donald and Goofy singing Hakuna Matata and enacting useless filler Disney plots while the actual interesting story developments took place backstage where we didn't see it.
The novels are full of extra stuff what happened with Axel, Mickey, Naminé, Kairi, Xemnas, Saix and Riku in the meantime which didn't got shown in-game because of overly much focus on one party.

DDD at least got a bit in the right direction with showing stuff directly that didn't involve just the playable character(s).

Right?! I was trying to think of a witty name for it, but I kept coming up with names regarding their hairstyles. ;D

I made that one up on the spot, lol.

Or it would become again a linear, dull story where close to none of the major characters get decent development because everything between characters that aren't Sora, Donald and Goofy happens backstage which we don't get to see.

As much as I like the multiple campaign option that Kingdom Hearts has going on, I'd love to see a marriage of the two: Have the story focus primarily on Sora, Donald, and Goofy, but switch characters based upon certain story events. For example, SDG have just finished up a world and then something (usually involving Xehanort) happens and we're forced to play another character due to story temporarily shifting to that character for a short time before go back to playing as SDG.

Although both sides have pros and cons, I'd rather they just stick with Sora and his story. While I think that the KH series can tell a narrative from multiple perspectives expertly (BbS is a fine example, DDD somewhat), I think KH3 has a lot of story telling to do on its own if it plans on doing it well so having you constantly change characters I think it could easily get confusing. Especially considering some people who play KH3 won't have played any of the other games or very few, a complicated story would make it even worse.

I really wouldn't mind something like where you see the other characters on the various Disney worlds which helps explain not only where they are, but Sora gets development with each of them in that world. Of course they could designate characters who need more development to larger worlds (like Kairi so we can finally see what they act like together) and then on that world, you could choose to work with Donald, Goofy, the Disney character, or the Hero of Light in that world. It would help make the Disney worlds more important too as Sora could find out vital stuff from each character rather than just sing his way through the world <_<
