One of my favorite movies of the new year (technically it came out late last year), it features amazing performances from Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Dano.
The film is mostly a character study and follows Daniel Plainview (Day-Lewis) as he develops from a lowly silver miner to an oil tycoon in the early 20th century. However, greed and corruption along with complications with his son H.W., his half-brother Henry, and clashes with fundamentalist preacher Eli Sunday (Dano) eventually cause him to lose his grip with reality.
Paul Thomas Anderson as director, Daniel Day-Lewis as lead, Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood as musical composer, what's not to like?
