Does anybody have some excellently moody instrumental tracks for me to listen make into a playlist on Spotify? I discovered that I write astronomically better poetry and Gothic fiction if I have droning guitars and somber pianos.

Thanks ya'll ;)

I definitely can relate saying that listening to music lets you drown the world out as you flood your writings in with music, however maybe perhaps listening to different genres could also help you instead uve' in relying on somber guitars and piano.

There's a Korean pianist who goes by the the name July who has some very sad, but I wouldn't call somber piano pieces.

Then there's obviously The Fray with some amazing instrumental version uve' their soundtracks that could possibly help. I providing my absolute favorite song that puts me in the mood to write some sad stuff.

I would recommend listening to somber or at least in my case —giving you sad/melancholy— songs with lyrics since it'll let use vocabulary straight from the song that you wouldn't realize in using.

Then here is SoKo who absolutely can put you in a different world if you listen to her soothing voice and gentle guitar strums.

The last two things I can offer are Volcano Choir's Repave album which has that heartbeat feeling in your ears that makes you forget about everything around you.

Finally is The Early November's greatest song. Which feels like a combination uve' old noise rock and sad grunge.

I hope any uve' this helps!

Oh and for S&G's.

Sorry for the double post, but I've got some more if you're interested.

Thomas Newman works mostly for the cinematic scores, and his music ends up fantastic. This first one's a really good one called Any Other Name which some people might recognize from (among other things) House.

Speaking of Cinematic, this is the Cinematic Orchestra, though it might be too upbeat.

Here are some more random stuff as well. The first few of these are by a pianist named Yiruma, who is absolutely phenomenal.

I still have a ton more, but I don't think me posting random music is going to help, so much as overwhelm you. Explosions in The Sky is another good band/artist to look into, since they also do ambient music like Eluvium from my earlier post.

Thanks for all the options, CD-Man. For future reference, you can edit the other post and add the extra stuff that way.
