Re: Missions for May 12 ~ 18
Well, of course! But the prizes for the list itself become way less appealing.

Well, I do wuv Sephy~If you're a fan of villains, you're going to love one of the new ones~
Hmm, interesting. Didn't play any low stress games for a while nowKinda both! The platinum is easy enough to get since you can finish a playthrough in like 1-2 hours, and there are many trophies that have simple requirements. I figure I'll just get it all done
Thanks for the update, J, you're way too good <3

Oh, that's a good point, thanks~ *goes to correct stuff*Question about the Heartless missions. When I go to the actual announcement page with them on it, my google translator translates them as "first half" and "second half." But these are three week missions. Do you guys think there's any chance that the translator could be missing a nuance here and there will actually be a third part to these missions?
Hnnngh, these character name təˈmeɪtoʊ təˈmɑːtəʊ discussions againi'd like to point out shion should be spelled xion
Ahaha, I remember writing something similar on one of my threads The thing is that I'm always forgetting the right and wrong translation of her name, all the rules of phonetics and such. Besides Aeris and Aerith do kinda sound the same and that "th" is still debatable - after all we do have the "bus" that's バス in Japanese, right? No "th" there. And they both sound really close to original. Then there's also "translation and localization" involved - as in "Sasha" in Russian is "Alex" in English. So yeah, I'd rather stick with the original names, although it can be hard to transliterate them into languages :/To be fair, that Aeris / Aerith thing stemmed from the fact that there isn't any character in Japanese language that matches the /th/ sound (like path, theta, Perth, berth / birth / bath, etc.), and the /s/ sound is the closest approximation (resulting in Japanese transliterations of パス pasu, シータ shīta, パース Pāsu, バース bāsu), so エアリス Earisu came into being. This was transliterated into English as Aeris while it should have been Aerith.
Before anyone asked why it is read Earisu and not Aerisu, that's because the "Ae" is a diphthong and not two different syllables. This diphthong, as well as "ai" like in air, is sometimes read as エア ea in Japanese, such as air (エアー eā) and air-con (エアコン eakon).
Whoa, why are we talking about this!? XD
Oh, that's a good point, thanks~ *goes to correct stuff*
Hnnngh, these character name təˈmeɪtoʊ təˈmɑːtəʊ discussions again
*exhales* Well, if you are a fan of the series or a fan of original works (in general) or know a bit of Japanese (which you should be at least one of the three), you would notice that she's called シオン (Shion). I know that if you enter Xion in google translate it would translate it to シオン, buuuuut a. Xi in Japanese should actually be double or long シー (shii/shī), b. when they pronounce it in Japanese there is no "K" sound in her name - as in Ksi or as in ロクサス (Ro Ku Sa Su) and yes, I'm pointing at S-E's inability to "translate" names adequately, I mean it all went to hell with the names ever since Aeris/Aerith, well, for me at least =__= *inhales*
Aaaaanyways, it really doesn't or at least shouldn't matter as long as you understand who it is. And I'm guessing other people can see the clear connection as well. So I hope you and other people will forgive me my inability to live with the fact that beautiful original character names are being butchered by almighty translators *bows*
It's just like you and Blackdrazon said - that damn X! If they needed that then why not use/spell/write it like it should be? クシオン. That lack of constructiveness D: There's also another example that springs to mind - Xemnas. It's actually Zemnas in Japanese. クセムナス should've been the right way to pronounce it and they would have that "ks" sound in Japanese everywhere as well, but noooooooo =__= Oh well, I guess it's pointless to discuss this furthermore I just don't understand why people would care about it that much? Meh, I'm out~ hmmm, but Cyrillic names? I wonder what the reaction would be if I made all the tables in RussianAs much as I hate to prolong that discussion, you should not forget that Disney Interactive had their hand in making these games, too - all the organization members names except Xion have appeared in latin spelling in the original japanese trailers. The X as the sign of the reclusives has been in from the start, as has the latin spelling of all names involved.
So if you spell her name in latin letters, it should be Xion. It's still pronounced the same as if you spell it シオン.
We really needn't add a third way to spell the same name unless you want to try in cyrillic ones.
I guess japanese people just have an unhealthy love for names and letters they can neither transcribe nor pronounce...
I've seen the most unpronouncable stuff in many anime and bands.
