In the year 2510, Earth has changed drastically from the world we know today. Centuries of industrialisation have polluted the surface, forcing humanity to flee, in floating cities, to the height of 100 kilometres above the toxic surface. These cities, linked to Earth by a single umbilical cable, are powered by giagantic planetary generators known as Arteria. However, the Arteria, in generating enough power to support the cities, are adding exponentially to the pollution of the surface. Within the space of one century, the pollution will reach the height of the cities, and mankind will begin it's long, slow, painful downfall.

On the surface, various factions battle for control of the Arteria, using them to power their factories and create machines of war: Mechs.

In centuries past, in their battle to reach orbit, these factions blocked one another's paths by launching automated satelite defence platforms. The result today? Earth's low orbit is choked with millions of automated satalites, completly preventing anything or anyone from reaching orbit. Our race has trapped itself on it's own, dying planet, the cities their only, temporary, haven.

Our story begins on one such city.

You may join as a canon or original character, whatever you prefer. Your mech can be based on almost any source material, even those that we havn't specified, or a hybrid of several. It's design and functionality are limited only by your imagination. Insofar as your character, we need the following.

- A member of the protagonist party, alongside myself and Jezza. (Prefferably female. Can't have the main party be a sausage fest.)

- A 'Viral'-like antihero and up to two allies for him/her, to oppose the protagonist party.

- An experienced and well-known mercenary who could work for either side, depending on who hires him/her.

Just wondering, besides being either a hero or an anti-hero (or a mercenary) can we be another character? As in, uh, can more people join then just those seven?

What I'm saying is, can more then 7 people join this...?

Ah, okay, cool: lastly, just wondering...
The Transformers, are they Canon in the sense that they're actually aliens from the planet Cybertron, or are they simply transforming Mechs with a pilot?

Also, will things like Angels or Geass powers be showing up like in Neon Genesis or Code Geass?

Think of this like KH. In KH, the FF characters existed, but wern't exactly the same as in their own games. It was like a alternate version of them with a similar background to the original.

The canon transformers, such as optimus, ect, will be themselves. However, there will also be transforming mecha, and you're welcome to have yours transform.

As for the other question, well this will be a majorly combat related RP. I'm definatly considering bringing in certain 'boss' character such as one or more of NGE's angels, and maybe even characters from other media that fit the them, for example, Vegnagun from X2, seeing as it's more or less a mecha.

Name: Gelyan Mirenz
Age: 17
Gender: Male

http://media.photobucket.com/image/Anime%20guy%20with%20glasses/psychopathic_demon_girl/Anime%20and%20Games/Random%20Anime%20Guys/hot_anime_guy-1.jpg
About 6"3 in height and quite thin. He wears thin square shaped spectacles across his rather large nose, clear enough that his dark blue eyes shine through. He wears a standard-issue Cornerian pilot uniform, red with the Cornerian emblem etched into the shoulder.

Biography: A young man from the city of Corneria floating over Europe, Gelyan lived something of an interesting life, for his father was an ace pilot in the Cornerian defence forces. He heard about the excitement, the daring, the adventure, and knew that's what he wanted to do with his life. He determined to rise to the challenge of becoming a pilot, receiving basic training early on in life. However, he has not yet piloted an actual Mech successfully, having accidently crashed the only Mech he was ever privileged to pilot himself. But now, at the age of 17, he is being allowed to pilot a low-end German Mech called ‘Anfange’.
Personality: Gelyan has something of a clumsy personality: he’s prone to goofing off and people usually find it hard to take him seriously. He is, however, quite serious: it’s just that he’s usually serious in a not-very serious way (if that makes any sense). He’s overall quite laidback, though, approaching things with an easygoing confidence. While it does take quite a bit to stir him to action, when he’s there he proves himself to be incredibly skilful. His inexperience with Mechs in real situations does leave him in a pickle at times, but for the most part he glides through quite easily-ish.

Mech: Anfange, described below

Combat Record: None; although Gelyan has had practice in simulators and once piloted (then crashed) a Mech, he has never before been engaged in an actual battle.

Theme Music: YouTube - EPICA - The Score - Track 4 - Caught In A Web

~Mecha~
Mech Name: Anfange
Class: Light

Description:
eu-knightmare-panzer-hummel_400.jpg

A rather short and stocky mech at a mere 20ft, Anfange leans more towards the heavier side of Light-Class mechs. Although the Anfange was advanced back when it was first built, it was one of the first Mechs ever made, and thus is now outdated: in comparison to other Mechs it's slow and clumsy, and although it packs a punch and can withstand quite a bit of punishment it's, uh, 'visually impaired' and lacks any kind of defensive shielding or advanced technology.
Both of it's arms come equipped with MK II Zerstörer cannons: they fire armour-piercing explosive shells with surprising accuracy at a range of about 700 ft. Built into both legs at the 'hip' are dual Schnell assault blasters: essentially heavily powered up assault rifles.

The pilot sits in the cockpit which is located on the back of the vehicle, jutting out rather obnoxiously, and is vulnerable to attack. However, there is no transparent glass or other traditional forms of viewing the outside world: rather, the pilot views his (or her) enviroment through a combination of radar and a pair of scanners built onto the top of the machine, which are unfortunetly quite fragile and, like the cockpit, vulnerable to attack.

However, despite all this it still remains a crowning achievement of military technology and German engineering, and the Cornerian defence forces utilize these as their weapon of choice for new pilots, the basic idea being that if a pilot can prove himself (or herself) as being skilled enough to use an Anfange effectively then they can certainly handle more advanced Mechs.

Name: Leonardo Artemis
Age: 21
Gender: Male

Appearance:

Biography: A citizen of Neo-Brisbane, Leon is obsessed with mechs, to an unhealthy degree, some say. He is currently ranked ninth best in the world in the simulator's rankings, and spends almost all his time playing the simulator, or designing mechs on it. He is well known in the simulation community for his unconventional designs, that tend to focus on one particular aspect, strategy, or weapon rather then the balanced approach many other sim-designers opt for. In fact, unbeknownst to him, his designs have even attracted the attention of Neo-Brisbane's weaponary labs, and one of them is currently under construction on it's industrial level, as a prototype addition to Neo-Brisbane's defence forces.

Despite this, he has never been behind the controls of an actual mech, and his submissions to join the defence force have been consistantly rejected due to his low schooling marks: A direct result of too much time playing sims, and not enough studying.
Personality: Leon will admit that he has an obsessive personality: once he finds something he enjoys he'll do it until it's instinct. He has a strong sense of honour, which guides his life, and his battle strategy in simulations, and refuses to fight in a dishonourable fashion, such as teaming up on a lone enemy.

Mech(s): Hybrid Aether

Combat Record:
Simulated: 6472 Wins, 1184 Losses, 26 Draws
Actual: 0 Wins, 0 Losses, 0 Draws
Theme Music:

Mech Name: Hybrid Aether
Class: Varies dependant on armament.
With no weapons loaded, it's a Light class. With full weapon loadout, it's Medium - boarderline Heavy.

Description: Initially discovered by Leon in a hanger on Neo-Brisbane's industrial level, the Hybrid Aether was actually designed by Leon himself, in a simulator. The versitile design was later discovered by Neo-Brisbane's weapons reasearch division, and construction began on a prototype, with then intention to add a mass-production model of the mech to the city's defence forces. However, the prototype was never completed before the city came under attack. When Leon discovers it, it is still incomplete, with no legs, only one arm, and running off only one light generator instead of the intended 3 medium generators in his initial design.

The complete mech is designed to switch between weight classes by purging, or ditching, it's weapon systems once their ammo is depleted, drastically altering it's speed, manuverability and tactics mid-battle to confuse the enemy.

With basic loadout, it carries only two weapons: Identical, progressive vibration blades known as Vibro-Katana's. Running off an internal power cell, these blades vibrate at extremely high frequencies, increasing their cutting force, without putting any drain on the mech's own power supply. The downside to using a physical blade rather then a laser weapon that would run off the mech's own power is that they can't penetrate shields anywhere nearly as effectivly as laser blades.

With full weapon loadout, it has considerably more firepower, at the cost of additonal weight, slowing it down, and bumping it up into the upper-mediium weight class.

It carries a pair of XMG-Motocobra semi-automatic assault rifles, which fire in three-round bursts, and whilst they don't have the overall firepower of other weapons in their class, they are one of the most accurate rifles on the commercial market. They have a clip size of 108 rounds, and Hybrid Aether carries 16 additional clips.

Holstered on it's right hip is a backup weapon, a BFF EX-Series Metal Eagle Magnum. With only six shots to a clip, each shot has to count, but the power of the relativly small sidearm makes up for it's ammunition problems and frequent reload time. 20 additional, ready-to-load clips are carried.

On it's shoulders and back, four missile pods are arrayed, designed to be fired indepentandly or simultaneously. The shoulder pods fire direct-fire missiles, whilst the rear pods fire vertical-launch. They can be loaded with a number of different payloads, from high-yeild but non-seeking rockets, to scatter missles, to AS heat-signature seekers.

It's main weapon, however, is also it's most heavy. Taking up both upper shoulders is a BFF Ogami Large Grenade Cannon. When not in use, the cannon is stored folded up on the shoulders. Unfolded, it sits above the right shoulder, with a barrel as long as the Hybrid Aether is tall. It can only carry ten grenades, and can fire them at a rate of two per minute, but with the size, and explosive yeild of the grenades, each has the potential to completly destroy an unshielded mech, and the blast of one is sufficent to drop most shields in a single direct impact. Due to the Aether's lightweight frame, and the massive recoil generated by the Ogami, it must land, and anchor itelf via a set of leg-mounted anchors to gain enough stability to fire accuratly.

The Ogami can also load other, more specialised projectiles tailored specifically to defeat a specific enemy. Often these projectiles are custom-built to an enemy's weakness.

I'm making a character template for now, and I'll refine my mech before presenting it.

Name: Damien Chaseux
Age: 23 years
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Context/Media: Original

Appearance:
Tall for his age despite the pollutants of Earth's atmosphere, at six foot and seven inches tall, Damien is a fairly plain-looking individual, with short-cut greyish-brown hair, grey-blue eyes, yet of fair build despite spending disproportionate amount of times behind simulators and computer screens. He typically wears black jeans, a navy collared t-shirt, grey hoodie and black runners.

History: Another Australian citizen, this time born in the south-eastern corner of the country, in the city of Melbourne. Always interested in big technology in a big way, mechs were the logical thing to be obsessed with. Not only interested in the fighting that could be done in them and the destruction they could bring about, Damien was also intensely interested in how both the hardware and the software worked. Through countless hours of research and tinkering, Damien came to understand mech technology to a degree where he could not only tune any given part or system to perfection, but even create original designs entirely from scratch. He has formidable mechanical knowledge as well as creativity, which made him a very dangerous player in mech simulations he ran against both AI and human opponents. Through these 'games' he got in contact with Leonardo Artemis, possibly the best theoretical pilot in Australia and among the best in the world.
Aside from being a tremendously dangerous foe, he also had a very good concept of how the various weapons and bodily systems of mechs interact, and was able to put any given set of equipment. Many, many times, despite Damien fighting with totally custom-made sets never seen before by anyone, Leonardo would out-do him with sheer piloting skill, brutality and unpredictability. The two became both rivals and friends through these battles, not to mention by ranking highly in any national or international mech design competitions. Damien passed through Australia's top engineering university, specialising totally in mech subjects, and came out as what must have been one of Australia's top students. A mech research, development and production company in Neo-Brisbane offered him a job on the forefront of mech design, having seen not only his ludicrous study results, but also the simulated mechs he fought with and designed. He took up the job without a second thought, living near Leonardo being a definite plus.

Personality: To sum Damien up in three words: methodical, careful and analytical. His ability to size up a situation or object in an exceedingly short time is unparalleled - his patience combined with this ability means he waits in combat for an opening to hit his opponent, and rarely missed the opportunity presented to him nor screws up the action when he undertakes it. In the real world and combat he is always concerned with his physical state, and will typically avoid direct confrontation, instead preferring to defeat his opponent in subtler ways that are in some ways both more and less brutal than physically beating the pulp out of them. Unless severely motivated, he is a pacifist, and always tries to minimise or cut short the suffering or pain of most individuals.
He picks his friends carefully, and defends them with every effort he could possibly give. If he sees something that has the possibility of benefiting it, and there being no good reason to not to do, Damien will take the opportunity without a moment's thought.

Mech: Enslaver Ex Machina

Combat Record:
2974 Wins | 317 Losses | 24 Draws

==========

Mech Name: Enslaver Ex Machina (Enslaver of the Machines
Class: Light bordering on Medium

Description: A mech that stands forty feet tall, whose reverse-jointed legs appear too large for the body they support. It is mostly grey and brown colours, giving it excellent visual camouflage in urban environments. The mech has only moderate physical defensive capabilities, but makes up for it with a huge store of nanorobots that continuously maintain the robot. In this sense, the mech can 'heal' itself, and in the right conditions, can operate indefinitely while still under fire. The presence of the nanorobots, and the co-ordination of their overall structure and presence within Enslaver Ex Machina means it has a very powerful external shielding known as 'Primal Armour'. The mech, when walking, appears very gangly and takes awkward steps, but only because it's ideal mode of travel is on wheels.
The lower portion of the reverse-jointed legs are mostly straight and very long, and the mech can be lowered so as to rest with that part of it's legs flat to the ground. Wheels in the legs then move the machine around with insane agility along roads and more-or-less flat terrain. Simulations indicate the mech's top speed, with no nanites assisting its performance and with no equipment carried is around the eight hundred kilometres an hour mark, very impressive for ground travel.
It's weaponry is of an unusual variety, and the mech is in fact unable to directly inflict damage upon any enemy mech from a distance. In Enslaver's left hand is a shotgun, and in its right an assault rifle bordering on being of the sniping variety. Mounted on its back is a missile pod and a round-topped silo. Each of these weapons, when used, disperses clouds or capsules of nanites towards their targets. The shotgun, of course, fires a spread of the machines, carried in shells designed to impact on mechs and then inject their contents inside. The rifle performs a similar function, albeit much more focussed and accurate. The missiles fired unleash dense clouds of nanites, and the silo-like object releases a sphere of nanites in all directions for a radius of some thirty metres.
The nanites are designed to enter an enemy mech's hardware systems and either relinquish control of the mech to Damien, to power it down, and more or less anything one can do through absolute control of hardware and the hardware components of software systems. Damien's first action, when inside a mech, is to first disable any self-destruct features of it, then proceed to take control of the machine. At this point, Damien can either strip it for parts and beat resources, or send them into battle as fighters or weaponless decoys.
Aside from it's nanite weaponry, held in place on each hip of Enslaver is a knife, with a metre-long blade. The weapon is made of solid metal, but is heated to extremely high temperatures and vibrates at several thousand times a second to make it an excellent cutting weapon. Damien uses this primarily to disable the weapons or remove limbs and parts from a mech when in battle. Given it's sheer potential for damage, other uses are easily imaginable. Even if Enslaver only had one knife and no guns, you'd still be somewhat insane to want to take him on when fighting on the ground.
Currently the mech is only just built, and has yet to be put to use in combat. In fact, the machine has only been built, no modifications of any kind have yet been made to it, nor any real-world tests conducted. Because of the fragility of the mech and its systems, Damien uses sudden and erratic movements to confuse his foes, not to mentions doesn't stray from streets bordered by buildings to use as cover.

Special Abilities: Aforementioned capability of controlling mechs by infesting them with nanites, which then proceed to take over a mech's hardware and software systems.

Name: Silvio Alighieri
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Context/Media: Code Geass

Appearance:
Though Silvio's parents are ethnic Italians from the Lombardy region, years spent under the African sun has made his pale skin dark brown. His hair is a dark and curly brown though from the distance, it looks black as the men who populate Somalia's coasts while his eyes are blue as the ocean. Silvio is at five feet and ten inches, a normal height for a normal individual and has an average build. He wears tight jeans, a black Che Guevera shirt and a hat.

History: Do not let his last name fool you, Silvio considers himself a Somali before an Italian. He was born in the Somali capital of Mogadishu; his immigrant parents worked a humble living as teachers to the local government-operated schoolhouse. Though originally interested in following what became the family business in pursuing a professional teacher's degree in a Nairobi college, he changed his mind the moment that a riot, caused by Islamic extremists, almost killed him, his family and the entire community of Somali Italians living there. His life as well as the life of hundreds others were saved when a force of giant machines operating under Australian-UN command swooped in and crushed the terrorist uprising, saving everyone.

Silvio had declared his love for these mechas and of course the Australian military's mecha forces.

He told his parents about his plans and though reluctant to have their only son leave them, gave him their blessings and provided him with enough money to live on before he could find a job there. Silvio used the money that his parents had to spend on tickets to a executive class flight to Melbourne. He landed there and utilized what money was left over to rent out a room in a suite in a decent neighborhood and using his amazing social skills, persuaded the dean of some top notch engineering school to give him a position in the hard to get mecha class. How he persuaded the dean to get him, some punk from Somali, that is another story to tell for another day.

Of course, he never had the high enough grades to be considered top notch unlike some punk named Damien who always seemed to have good things to happen his way. Silvio never considered grading marks to be important to him as long as he had enough coin to continue his interest in the field and if he was lucky, land himself a job working a mecha for either Australia or some other country. He was no designer but had enough raw potential piloting it that he could rival Leonardo Artemis one day but he had no ambition to steal some other person's glory. He intended to carve his own path.
