I dont agree with that. Then again I think SE and D does this kind of stuff on purpose cuz they get their kicks in looking at our theories.
I just kinda like to think about what I think would make the story stronger. Malificent and Pete sacrificing themselves for Sora is kick butt. The thought of her just taking control of the heartless is slightly repetitive. Besides, I think in the case of Oogie Boogie, we see that her power is somewhat...weakened.
Who knows. Would be cool to find out though.

Malificent was a plot tool used to cover-in for the fact that they were running out of ideas. And to those that say meybe shell come back in kh3!
, Nomura stated that KH3 will not follow KH2; it will be a prequal to KH1, just look at the damn keyblade design in the secret movie, it's very large and unsophisticated. If KH3 had been in the future, you would expect the keyblades to be very small and lethal, like the current keyblades of Sora and Mickey.
And come on, both Malificent and Pete, the self-acclaimed mistress of evil saved the keybearer and all of his friends with something like " I will take care of the heartless! You go defeat the game! I have no purpose in this scene other than to fill a hole! Oh, by the way, I'LL GET MY REVENGE DESPITE THE FACT THAT I WONT BE IN KH3."

Malificent came back to life when her crow brought here cloack in the room with the three fairies. When the fairies where tring not to remember Malificent they couldn't help but remember her. And thats what brought her back to life.
