[sign-ups & ooc thread]

day 0
time – 19:36
location – A-East backstreets

[sound -- rain]

"GAH!"

It was a shock that shook the darkness, breaking the stillness of that cold, lonely alleyway. A soaked slam rocketed across the concrete, a thud into the raindrop, red soaked puddles.

For a moment, the world was still. There was no sound, not even the slightest whisper of breath.

It was a pair of footsteps that broke the silence, a pair of black boots that sloshed across the saturated pavement. That one lone shadow hovered over the collapsed figure, a single, flickering streetlamp stretching that shadow over the figure's eyes and numb features.

"Sleep tight, kid."

A numb touch fell upon the figure's chest, as if something had dropped from the sky. What it was, she would never know. Her breathing had stopped, her movements had ceased.

田中鎖 was dead.

day 1
time – ? ? ?
location – ? ? ?

"Nngh..."

The world came in as a dark haze, black splotches swarming her vision. Her loosely curled fists rubbed her eyes, fighting to push the darkness away, but everything remained a blur. Putting up to a sitting position, the girl hung her head, pushing her eyes to just focus.

Her body felt sluggish, as if she had dosed herself with one too many drugs and this was her body's reaction. But the slugging feeling was beginning to slip away, feeling rushing back into her fingertips and up her arms.

"That... was a weird dream..."

Resoluting to lie back, the girl jumped upon feeling something strange beneath her fingertips: rock? It was grainy, rough, and hot... Shaking her head, she looked and saw black underneath her.

[sound - ? ? ?]

Sound started flooding into her ears: clicks, beeps, steps... and, worst of all, voices.

The world rushed into her view. The young girl jolted to her feet as the vivid hues from billboards and eccentric clothing choices lit up in her vision. She was ensnared in a human whirlpool, being pushed one way and the next as people lined the street.

"Ah!"

She jumped for the sidewalk and met her sanctuary, breath moving in and out of her lungs fast as her heart jumped in her chest.

The Scramble Crossing?!

"How'd I... wake up here...?"

Glancing around, hands pulled to her chest, she searched the various gazes of those who passed by. Thankfully, no one noticed her, as they were too encompassed in their own thoughts. She breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness...

Questions started popping up in her mind: how did she get there, why did she wake up in the middle of the Scramble Crossing of all places, where had she been before... All of those questions were silenced with a little cheerful beep, muffled within her pocket. Quirking a brow, she scooped her phone out of her pocket and clicked on the screen.

A new message? (Why would someone be messaging her...? Did anyone even have her number?)

Opening the text, her eyes scanned the contents.

Reach 104. Time limit: 60 minutes. Fail, and face erasure.

"Huh...?"

Spam? Guess so. With a shrug, she simply pocketed the phone and folded her arms, back leaned against the building's side. Her mind went back to the questions, more importantly what she should do now. Her immediate thought was to head towards a place without people, so that she could think. One place came to mind: the Shibuya Station; it was creepy and dark, but it was always empty. Perfect! Now to just get there--

"GAH!"

The girl's knees collided with the concrete and she doubled over. It felt as though someone had stabbed a knife through her hand, ripping a giant hole in her palm. No... this was far more scary than that. Slowly pulling her hand away from her chest, the girl's panicked blue eyes stared down.

59:59... 59:58...

Blood red, ticking numbers... Oh, that was far worse than a little flesh wound.

Pulling herself to her feet, the girl gulped. She was so lost, so scared, but she went with her instincts: run.

Across the crossing she went, speeding towards the Hachiko Statue and what lingered beyond it...

-----------------------

With a click and a cheerful ping! noise, the screens lit up in his golden eyes, a little light within this oh so dark and dreary room. Confined within his grip was a red DSi and, across his features, was a smug little smile.

"Hmm... There's some pretty good games on here... Color me impressed."

The game of choice was a game called "It's a Wonderful World," some sort of modern day RPG. Several other cartridges hung around in his jeans pocket, but, currently, he was focused on the game at hand.

Upon playing through a bit of the game, the black haired teen ultimately exclaimed, "Damn, these Reaper guys are freakin' assholes. Jeez! Don't they have anything better to do than torment that freakin' kid?!"

A pause of silence slipped into the Dead God's Pad. Golden orbs scanned around, the teen took that moment to save his game, pocket the game device, and whistle ever so innocently as he did so. A moment passed, and he soon sat up from the red couch he was lounging upon.

"Oy! There's a freakin' game goin' on here and we don't even have a Gamemaster?!"

The Pad was empty, an odd thing at the very beginning of a new game. The Reapers had called him in, yet he was all by his lonesome. Welp, if they wanted him to do work, they couldn't get pissed off at him when they didn't give that work to him. (And there was no freakin' way that he was going to run off into the streets and send Noise after some idiot Players. Ugh gross, that was low-rank work!)

Voice reducing to a cast-aside mumble, Kage said, "The damn Conductor is such a slack-off, what a bitch... They tell me to report in and expect to sit around all freakin' day..."

the Boy’s head pounded. The smell of spray paint had been doing that to him worse and worse as of late. He closes his eyes to sneeze, but when he opens them, he is no longer in his old neighborhood, spray painting the unused walls with colorful messages of peace. No, he was not there. He was on a gurney , being sent into the emergency room. How did he get here. who brought him here. Why was he here? his head hurts way more, like, Screams of pain more.
“AUGH!”

and he wasn’t gonna hold them back. He’s moved from the gurney onto a bed. Screaming like there’s no tomorrow. He felt his skull closing in on his brain.

He heard the doctor say “ his brain (mumble) swollen.” He feels a tiny prick on his arm. And a few minutes later… he felt sleepy. Anesthesia, why hadn’t they thought about it before? The pain slowed to a halt. He felt his eyes do the same thing, fluttering to a close. When he awakes, his head is better than ever, no pain. The sun is shining on his face. The… sun? he jumps up.. and there are people. he’s on the concrete of a plaza.

“what kind of GODDAM HOSPITAL leaves a F***king Patient out on the street ?!” he screams, maybe even louder than during his time at the hospital, but his voice sounds filtered. He touches his face, looking for his mouth, but finds a… what is this? He catches his reflection on a nearby store.
“Is that a gas mask?” he pulls on it, trying to take it off. Yeah, didn’t work. This was getting freaky as hell.

A slow, high-pitched ringtone plays. There is a vibration in his pants that makes his behind lift. Oh yeah, you read that right. His puts his hand into his back pocket, inside he finds a neon green flip phone.
“what’s this old ass thing doing here? I don’t even have a cell phone.”
He opens it and puts it up to his ear.
“hello?”

But it keeps ringing. .. It’s a message. Duh.

Reach 104. Time limit: 60 minutes. Fail, and face erasure.

“oh hells naw. This better not be for- What the hell?“

he drops the phone, his hand. It had writing on it. and the writing was moving. It was moving writing. Nothing weird. Obviously. Cause today had been such a normal day. a day that had just begun.

59:49-48-47-46

And it was counting down.

She inserted the gold token for a third round, satisfied with the mechanical click that followed from the intake of the coin and its start-up jingle. She climbed the platform.

Christ, this place was dead as dead as her. The abandoned playing center littered with arcades games that once brimmed with electronic life, now ancient with the absence of warm, lively bodies to occupy the blinking machines. Pitiful sight, really, that Kam deemed it proper to grace the old relics of entertainment with her own presence every now and then, even if the arcade was huddled in one of the few deserted malls of Shibuya. Abandoned to collect dust and die forsaken! Quite unfair, she thought! And so her daily visitations to the arcade, if only to give her reverence to the old vehicles of childhood entertainment. (It was not like the bittersweet reverence she experienced when she frequented her father’s sanctuary in a tragic revisit of the past that damned her to this miserable existence of Reaperhood. For still her unsealed wounds sizzled and her blood chilled whenever she passed through the church’s ruined doorways.)

Ugh! Such elegies were wont to plague her with bouts of pessimism that she honestly did not have the time to obsess over. No, no; none of that today, thank you. Just gaming. And it wasn’t long at all before the flashing arrows and pop music captivated her attention altogether.

Every game within the ‘cade had, at one point in time or another, been tried by Kam’s hand and championed by Kam’s hand. Of course she cultivated a rather proud and brilliant title as self-proclaimed King of the Arcade–even if said title was known to herself, unknown to all others. Well, who knew? Perhaps another reaper did know of the arcade’s resilience and existence. But unless he endeavored to keep this diamond discovery within the abandoned Shibuya mall secret, she never knew anyone but herself to have knowledge of the arcade. So, Kam rightfully assumed the amusement center to be her own private oasis and decided against announcing her precious find.

Today, she’d dallied in the first-person shooters for a bit; however, they’d gotten old pretty fast. Point and shoot; point and shoot. Like erasing. Yeah. That’d gotten old very fast. So, to the dancing stage it was–but even that, after three rounds of it, began to grate on Kam’s nerves a bit.

“Christ. This sucks.” Timbre soft and downright dry, she dragged herself off the dancing platform after the third completion, casual popping a sugar-stick in her mouth as she leaned against the dancing game. Now, she’d first gulp down wasabi before betraying it to any soul, but, dammit, how dull the days were without someone interesting to spend it with! Everyone else was wrapped up in… Gamemaster decisions, most likely. Ew.

God, she prayed she was not up for this week. Because, honestly, what a drag that would be. Guess she would have to think up some plans on her own to occupy her time while every one else huddled in the Pad. You know, since Mr. Fragrance was usually the one to instigate their daring activities. And Kam was usually the one bored enough to go along with them.

"Oh am I," a soft voice asked directly behind the unaware Kage which soon found himself on his side on the couch with a nice sized bruise on his temple delivered by a powerful yet lazy swing from a signature umbrella. Right behind the couch was a woman who evenly matched the dark and dreayness of the room the reaper and conductor were currently in. Yes the woman who had just smacked the daylights out of Kage with a umbrella was indeed the current Conductor of the Reaper Games.

"Kage you really must watch your surrounds my child.... you don't want to accidently tick off the "wrong" people correct," Grave asked as she walked around the couch twirling her umbrella until she halted, closed the umbrella, and took a seat next to the still lying Kage. Sighing as she realized he had yet to straighten himself up she delicated lifted her left hand, and gripped his shoulder forcing him upright.

"So how is your week of being gamemaster going so far," Grave asked in a lullying voice as she waited for the current reports of the game... even though it had just started understanding how a gamemaster planned to produce results was just as important as her knowing the actually results. Grave rested her umbrella on her left side as she awaited answer form the harrier reaper one of the very few she knew was out to take her title with a true desire to actual be the Conductor or higher... yet as she calmly sat next to him she made it clear she didn't see him as a threat to her existance. Besides she did indeed enyoj his actions... they made for a amusing game out of all the boredom she had as one of the higher ups. her sulken smile gave a darken shine as she looked at Kage again.

"Well?"

With that last shout of sound, the Dead God's Pad became silent once more. Kage scoffed. Of course, it would be empty when the game was starting, when the Reapers needed to be here... and yet, here he was -- the lazy Reaper being the first ready for the new week. (It was a surprise, but hey, maybe this would strike some good points with the Composer and he could take over that bitch of a Conductor's spot someday soon...)

Bored as ever, the black haired man went back to finding cures for his boredom. He started with his cell phone, ripping it out of his pocket and flipping to one of the games he had on it. There were several new text messages, ones from people he had labeled by numbers (#1, #5...), but he ignored them for his little game.

Amidst that little game, though, there came a sound -- a cut within the droning silence that bugged his ears. He piqued up, sat up straight, and glanced around. Nothing was there, as far as he could tell... but he didn't think to look behind him.

SLAM!

"GAH! Dammit, what the eff?!"

The Reaper was thrown aside, lying sideways on the pale, cream couch as his cheek throbbed. There was a red mark upon the entire right side of his grey-tan features and, for a moment, he was left pretty stunned by the attack.

Kage, you really must watch your surrounds my child... You don't want to accidentally tick off the "wrong" people, correct?

Finally sitting up, he rubbed the side of his face, pocketing his phone at the sight of the Conductor herself, Grave. The gothic lothia girl sat down next to the Gamemaster, seating her umbrella next to her like it was some sort of pet. Kage was still taken aback by the umbrella slap (which was ridiculous, jeez...), but the man snapped out of it when Grave forced him to turn her attention to her, an iron grip digging into his shoulder. He jumped, hissing and mumbling as he glared.

So, how is your week of being Gamemaster going so far?

"...e-excuse me?"

Well?

The color drained from the man's features and he dislodged his shoulder out of Grave's grip, backing away from the oh-so-freaky Conductor. Color begun to rush back in, his face suddenly turning red as he jumped to his feet.

"Gamemaster? Freakin' Gamemaster?! Nonono, you made a horrible choice on that one! I am the laziest, the worst choice for GM. Why didn't you pick Gendou or someone else?! I mean, shit, I bet he's been itchin' to get that spot for months!"

He paused for a moment, lowering his once waving hands to his sides. His fists begun to loosen, the red tint on his features begun to fade, and Kage was left being... well... dumbfounded.

"...you could've at least said something before, y'know, the freakin' game started! Sheesh."

"Bishop, run! Get out of here!"

The shout came from a teenager, pushing the child next to him as hard as he could, to get him as far away as possible from the immediate area. The rain was pouring. It all happened so fast. He blocked the way of immediate pursuers, grappling one who looked not much older than he. The hatred in their eyes should've been unnerving. The weapons they possessed should've been more so. A punch to the face brought one off equilibrium and sent him stumbling to the floor. There was a tackle. A struggle. Footsteps trailing off that weren't the light pitter-patter of the beloved who he hoped was safe. And then there was the sound of the wind breaking, allowing a weapon to collide against the skull of the teenager.

And all was black.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Footsteps. Multiple footsteps. Andre's eyelids slowly seperated, allowing him to see a clear blue sky on a pretty tranquil looking day. Suddenly starting to a sitting position he looked around, as his hazel eyes scanned his surroundings.
"Bishop? Bishop?!" The teenager shouted. No answer. Who did he expect was going to hear him among this crowd? The last thing he remembered was a very...numb sensation on the left side of his head. Had Bishop gotten away? How'd he end up here? At the...
Scramble Crossing?! His parents were going to kill him. Andre stood, he had to get back home. A vibration made his stomach drop. That was probably them, ready to scream until they blew out his eardrums. Pulling out a smartphone from his right pocket he watched the backlight flicker to life and display the message without him opening it.
Reach 104. Time limit: 60 minutes. Fail, and face erasure.
"What the hell..." Andre muttered before a sharp pain coursed through his right hand. "Nngh!" He grunted and looked at the source of the affliction. There lied a large red and black timer and it began counting down from 60 minutes. Was this forreal? It didn't seem fake. What was going on? What was "erasure"? Andre wasn't so sure he wanted to find out. Turning on his heels, he began to break into a sprint, using the large skyscraper in 104 as his waypoint.
59:56... 59:55...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Small footsteps littered Dead God's Pad, echoing through the commotion happening within. The frail boy was scared to death, and didn't know what to do. There were two figures shouting inside, both with black wings like the one he owned on his back.
"Um...excuse me...I was told to come here for...um...orders?" Bishop chimed, in almost the faintest voiceanyone's ever heard. He wouldn't be surprised if they just ignored him. He just really wanted to know where his brother was.
A lot of noise for a pretty obscure room? Yeah whatever, that time again. This was only his third meeting at Dead God's Pad, and he was sure to face an earful of scrutiny for a five star performance last episode. His arms were folded and his eyes were shut, almost a kind of pretentious feeling without throwing it all over the walls. The room was dark, and the faint light no one stood beneath, as the reapers assembled appeared as silhouetted as the next one and so on.
Idle conversation, to elate themselves, choosing the game master came next. Naturally as any knowledge endowed Harrier could tell you, this was a position given to the Officer rank, it was also a death wish in the same aspect. You weren't guaranteed to live you got that honor, the perks were the only worthwhile part of the position. Investing time into he was significantly better informed having done work for his officers individually these past few weeks.
"Christ, they really know how to make you feel like lost puppy here." he said with a low breath of air.
Rolling his eyes, it began to populate steadily as the silhouettes, until someone turned the light on. Wait, there was a light switch? He figured this out as he could see their faces, that mysteriously eccentric atmosphere, gone within an instant. He took a seat himself, as from what he could only imagine was a newly winged reaper. Seemed lost, likely the only one that knew him had to be the Conductor herself.
"Judging by Kage's whimpering, he's on the 7 day death row. This is gonna be a fun week." Tai smiled and folded his arms leaning back on the couch. Once the mission was sent, he'd immediately greet the players with noise like he did every week.
Strangely enough, there was the sound of a mouse in the room. Tiny, feeble, almost unnoticeable until you heard it move, looking up it was a false alarm. The cracking in the male's voice was a conundrum inside of itself, "You there, are you my wingman?" Tai said, lifting himself off of the couch and moving closer with dull eyes to observe the reaper.
"...you could've at least said something before, y'know, the freakin' game started! Sheesh."
"..... I did..... about twenty times....... didn't you get the confirmation text," Grave sighed as she face palmed herself at her choice for this weeks Gamemaster. Seriously she had messaged him a day before about this choice, and now that she thought about it fully it was a stupid decision yet she had to give the idiot a chance. Not everyone was deserving of the officer rank, and yet now more then ever the number of officer strengthed reapers was very small thanks to a certain someone, and incident quiet a few years ago. It was then the lights came on wisping away all mystery in the room to reveal the others had started to show up as well.... of course she had already known that.
"Um...excuse me...I was told to come here for...um...orders?"
"You there, are you my wingman?"
"He's a special case I am afraid," Grave said aloud towardsTai as she stood up wanting to get away from the stupidity that was Kage's whole world... seriously he was a reaper who else would be texting the man its not like he was on good terms with anyone to begin with something the Conductor was highly aware of due to complaints, and it didn't really help knowing the man wanted her head.... like most of the reapers.
"Listen Kage.... you want to get into the big leagues? Prove yourself in this weeks game with favorable results and I'll official make you a officer Reaper, and for what it is worth Gendou has been Game Master quiet a few times. Yes its been awhile, but he doesn't have to prove himself while "others" do, don't worry I already texted the first mission when you were all dug up in your video games," Grave continued as she gave the man one last glance before walking away from him. In truth the old her would have advised a way to get rid of these reapers that were out to specifically get her, or even the composer... yet the new her knew one thing to be certain in these games... if you try to contain change.... you'll be the one erased while the world advances without you... besides she liked to stretch her legs out with such opposition mentally and physical herself everyonce in awhile. God forbid her from losing her deadly touch with so many venomous snakes about her.
"Good luck.... Gamemaster Kage some reason I can tell you'll need it. Ah I am sorry for making you wait Bishop.... I am sure you remember we met a few hours ago.... after your accident," Graves voice had gone from venomously on guard to wisping, and soothing in a flash as she made eye contact with the very young reaper even going as far to give him one of her calming yet sulken smiles as she dragged her umbrella along with her.
"Don't worry I know what your worried about, but I'll explain whats happening in better detail soon as all the surviving players complete day one. Until then all you will be required to do is run a few jobs for me alright? Ah you are Tai correct, you joined us quiet recently.... how are you finding your new life," The Conductor addressed Tai as she stood up completely observing the Harrier reaper for response.
"So finding the reaper life enjoyable, anything you believe you need to ask of me while you have the chance?"
"You there, are you my wingman?"
Bishop's vulnerable eyes peered up at the man who had moved over to look at the child. He couldn't really speak save his mouth parting and him letting out a verbal sound of some sort. It wasn't really defined. Maybe it was the strange man who had just walked over to him and looked over him with two black wings on his back. Bishop's face then shifted, as he tilted his head to the left, now thoroughly studying Tai's wings. Usually one of his age would probably be afraid of this,and ponder where they came from. He lifted a thin arm and pointed at them.
"But you already have wings." He said, as if Tai hadn't known that himself. Bishop turned his head and looked over his shoulder, checking for wings of his own. Wings would be cool. Wings were always cool. He should've been scared. He should've been terrified. He probably should've cried. But for some reason...he didn't feel that afraid. In fact...despite his confusion, this was pretty interesting to his prepubescent mind.
After a bit of searching, Bishop found the object he was looking for but only spotted one singular wing protruding from the left portion of his back.
"He's a special case I am afraid."
Special case? What did that mean? The child raised an eyebrow, however the emo looking woman continued talking and he retreated. However, the man who talked to him seemed to be the one he felt most comfortable with being around. He sidled his way over to Tai and gave him a smile and pointing to his reaper wing.
"I can be a wingman too." He whispered with a grin. He surely didn't have the attention span to listen to whatever discussion was going on with the Reapers.
"Ah I am sorry for making you wait Bishop.... I am sure you remember we met a few hours ago.... after your accident."
The emo looking woman had bent over to address him and gave him a smile. However, he was confused. What accident was she talking about? He remembered meeting her....somewhat. Everything was pretty hazy. He felt like he should ask. What accident? When exactly did they meet
"Um..." The child began.
"Don't worry I know what your worried about, but I'll explain whats happening in better detail soon as all the surviving players complete day one. Until then all you will be required to do is run a few jobs for me alright? Ah you are Tai correct, you joined us quiet recently.... how are you finding your new life?"
The woman interuppted him and addressed Wingman. He hoped EmoWoman would explain everything to him. He was really confused. But he had a wing! And boy wasn't that cool.
Car screech and crash
It happened so fast that she hardly had time to process everything before she felt her body rolling across the front of the car, only to feel herself fall back to the ground with what should have been a pained landing. Only... her body had gone completely numb from the impact, so she hardly felt anything at all, including the ground. She squinted open her eyes, only to see the face of the teen whom she had tried to stop from stealing the purse; he looked straight at her, with shock and fear in his eyes. But the fact that he had pushed her in the way of the incoming car- whether unintentionally or not- did not stop him from darting off without another moment's hesitation.
Clearly he was in a hurry. The teen could not have known that her brother was to pick up a special award that night at the school. He could not have known that she had promised Hotaka, her 14-year old brother, that she would attend to support him. He could not have known that she was the eldest of three siblings, and was currently taking on two jobs in addition to school to support her financially struggling family, whom she would sacrifice everything and anything for. And he could not have known that Yukira, in the next moments, would lose consciousness for good, on that street, and possibly never see her dear family again.
She heard the sound of footsteps gathering around her as her vision began to fade, and her mind closed off even further. Before her vision and mind completely fell to darkness, however, the last words the surrounding crowd was able to make from her was: "I'm sorry I couldn't make it, Hotaka..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yukira felt the touch of cold asphalt along her body, and once again, heard footsteps around her. Though this time, they were just walking past her like she wasn't there at all. What the... what am I doing on the ground? Her mind felt incredibly hazy, and she could hardly remember anything from before, at all. She finally moved her arms and picked herself up off the ground, very slowly, taking in her surroundings. Lo and behold, she was standing (and was laying facedown) right in Shibuya Scramble Crossing!

"How on earth did I get here-?"

It was then that she remembered the events that took place before. She was going home from her part time job... and then there was the scream, and the younger boy (or man; she couldn't really remember that well, as things were still hazy) rushing towards her with the stolen purse. Then the struggle... and finally... the car.

She took several moments to finally take it all in. And afterward? Surely there was something else? She racked her memories for any hint or clue of... just anything. Scarcely, she remembered a lot of white... white walls, perhaps? Or no? It didn't quite seem right. But she did remember a voice. And a sudden feeling of void, and the numbness. Pulling herself from her reverie, she looked at the people walking by her- but none of them even gave her a glance at all. She reached out to a couple people to ask them if they knew how she'd ended up in the middle of the square, but none of the people even acknowledged her, and she couldn't even feel them. Her arm didn't go through them or anything, but nothing she did affected them or made them even glance at her. It was as if she didn't exist at all. Possibly realizing the situation, her arm shook in fear. Before she knew it, she was on the ground again, shaking her head, not sure what to make of anything.

"I'm dead. I'm dead. I've got to be dead. If so, then what am I doing here?"

As if in response to her spoken question, there was suddenly a ring coming from her pocket. My cellphone? Is this normal? Do dead people normally get texts? Her hand shaking, she moved to pull her phone out of her jeans, and flipped open her old-fashioned phone. A text showed up at the screen. It read:

Reach 104. Time limit: 60 minutes. Fail, and face erasure.

"What the...? What is this, some kind of sick joke?! Whatever it is... I'm not laughing."

Yukira was just about to delete the message on her phone when she felt a stabbing pain in her right hand, which was holding the phone. It lasted for just a short moment, but the pain was incredibly great, causing her arm to spasm and drop the phone on the pavement. She held her right palm with her left hand, feeling suddenly fragile.What on earth was that? When she moved to pick her phone back up, however, she caught a glimpse of something on her palm, and turned her hand to look at it. Imprinted on her palm were blood read numbers that looked much like tattoos. But what scared Yukira most was that the numbers were counting backwards. Like a timer. Or countdown.

Confirmation text? This bitch was bluffing. Kage checked -- and there ain't no "confirmation" text occupying his smartphone. (Perhaps she sent all of those texts to the wrong person, and Kage wasn't truly taking this week's GM post... Well, he hoped. Unlikely, but hey, it was possible!)

Listen Kage... You want to get into the big leagues? Prove yourself in this week's game with favorable results and I'll officially make you a Officer Reaper ...

The Reapers' headphones should've just covered his ears, because the guy wasn't listening. He become too preoccupied in his own thoughts, his own actions. He had no time to even remotely pay attention to the Conductor, nor all of the bullshit she had the audacity to speak up on. She soon became focused on the little Reaper who presented himself, a young boy who looked too scared and weak to be a part of their league. (Gee, had they gone so low that they had to induct kids into this stupid organization?)

Shooting up from his seat, Kage pocketed his phone and made his way for the door, a wicked grin fixated on his features. Whirling about, he turned back to the Conductor.

"You want me to prove myself? Well then, you're gonna get yourself one heck of a game this week..."

And, with that, the Gamemaster was gone.

--------------------

Oh, what a quaint and chaotic world Shibuya was. Cultures clashing, trends ever changing, screens and shops blasting music and video in the faces of their consumers, all while the rhythmic footsteps set the undertone of this hastened, disorderly world.

But underneath that thundering bass was the UG -- the world of Reapers and Players, of second chances and erasure. As Kage stood atop the Stationside rooftop, looking down upon the world below, he searched for the later: the Players and the chances he had to erase them.

If Grave wanted Kage to prove himself, then prove himself he would.

By the end of this game, there would be no Players left.

He was going to pass this week with flying colors, take the spot of Conductor, and rule over the Reapers as he rightfully should. Well... he was getting a bit ahead of himself, but still! One day or another, soon the Reapers would be calling him Conductor... no, wait, Composer! Even better!

And it all started with this game. He searched the crowd for any of the Players making their way from the Crossing into the Hachiko area. Lo and behold, he found his first Player. A spark lit in his golden orbs. A grin flickered onto his pale, tan features.

"Well, what'd ya know..."

Whipping his phone from his jeans' pocket, he quickly composed and sent out a text for the Reapers:

"Players are up and I see no Noise nor Walls out... Supports, put walls up from Hachiko to West Exit Bus Terminal and from the Scramble to 104. Harriers, I need some Noise over here in Hachiko and in the Scramble. Let's see if we can take these Players out early...

- GM"

The text was sent. The Reapers were ready. The Players were coming into play. Oh, this was going to be damn great game.

With a snap of his fingers, the first Noise shot out into the district and headed for their Player targets...

--------------------

Hands in her vest's pouch, Kusari shuffled her sneakers across the concrete and made her way into the Hachiko area. As she walked, no one laid eyes on her, never noticing she was there, and that was something she was delighted at and thankful for. It was a little eerie, sure, but then she could be left alone! No one to bother her, no reason to speak up and look foolish. All she did was walk on her own.

Still, she needed to get to the Station Underpass. It was too noisy here; she needed some place to think.

Drawing to a halt next to the Hachiko statue, the girl took her phone from her pocket and begun flipping through the texts present. The only one that came up was that weird one: the one saying to go to 104... She still had that timer on her hand, too. What would happen if she refused to go?

"Hmm?"

Glancing up, her blue orbs spotted the Stationside store and what lied within the window displays. Kusari became curious, trotting over and hoping to find some new game for her DS hiding inside. Instead, she saw her reflection and an odd sight within it...

"Huh?"

A black mark was imprinted on her cheek. What the... She poked the mark, something that was surely real enough to be there, but where did it come from?

Something else showed up in the glass reflection.

Her eyes bugged. Through the crowd, they pushed forward, eyes locked on the windows. The girl whirled around, arms shaking.

Since when were wolves in Shibuya?!

"Ahh!"

The girl dashed off to the side, charging for the Bus Terminal path. A sudden slam filled the air and Kusari was thrown back, nose left red from the impact. She snarled and looked back, jumping forward again. The path was blocked, a strange "wall" of sorts standing in the way. She slammed her fist loosely into it, creating a dispersement of hexagonal shapes that quickly disappeared.

"What? No!"

She slammed another fist into the wall, causing another spark of hexagons. Another spark, another, and another came and went, but the wall was still there and Kusari was still trapped.

"No, no, no!"

A low growl filled the air. Kusari's back slammed into the wall. She was cornered, two wolves creeping closer and closer towards their prey.

How did she get herself into this mess...?

Yukira felt her pulse quicken slightly at the countdowning numbers. Does someone think this is some kind of game? It seemed like it. This nature of games, she knew quite well. A person is put in charge who gives off quests or missions to the other participants. Pass, then you proceed to the next level. Fail, and well... that all depended on the game coordinator. Ranging from simply having to start the mission over again to having to perform certain tasks or undergo certain punishments, when she was the game coordinator, what the consequences were depended on her mood in the moment.

Feeling somewhat calm from recognizing the possible situation, Yukira stood up from the ground, picking her phone up from the ground. She pursed her lips together, hoping that the text was gone, and that she had only imagined it. But flipping her phone, she saw that the text was still there.

Reach 104. Time limit: 60 minutes. Fail, and face erasure.

Yukira frowned. Game or not, it didn't sound like this one was meant to be for fun. Or Face Erasure? What on earth could that possibly mean? As crazy as it seemed, it was entirely possible. She was supposedly "dead," after all. So she sure wasn't going to count anything as impossible. Yukira turned her hand back over. The countdown was still going down, and the numbers were somehow imprinted on her hand, though she couldn't feel them when touching across her palm. Face erasure, huh? I sure wouldn't have picked such a harsh punishment when I played these sort of games with- She paused suddenly trying to remember who she ever played these mission-based games with, but no one came to mind. She put a hand to her head, confused.

"Man, my memory's been hazier than ever since getting here..."

She shook her head, and took a deep breath, looking up and around the Scramble Crossing, and stopped when she spotted the huge billboards of District 104 in the distance.

"But I do know one thing for sure... the safest option right now is to complete the 'mission,' assuming my hunch about this is right. And since 104 is right over there..."

She had only taken a few steps when she saw a strange sight. Several pretty large, green frogs were bouncing around the Scramble crossing- and they seemed to be headed towards her, strangely enough. Feeling more weirded out than scared, she paused for a moment, unsure what to make of the mutated looking frogs. She loved animals, normally, but these things were just too bizarre. They height reached up to her waste, and their movement didn't strike her as friendly. It didn't take long for her to spot more frogs approaching her from other directions, to which she was really starting to get worried, and with good reason.

One of them suddenly jumped high in the air, right at her- Yukira put her arms up out of instinct, but she was thrown backwards towards the ground as the frog used her body as leverage to bounce right back off into the air again.

"Ngggh!"

The impact was much more than what she should have felt with the frog's size, and there was a bruise on her arm where it had jumped on her. Her pulse quickened and she began to panick. Just what are these things? The others only continued to move closer until she was completely surrounded, in addition to being completely vulnerable on the ground. It's no good- I'm trapped!

He was really moving. Like, he didnt know why he was running so fast. It wasn't like the text was real...was it? Still keeping in stride with his pace, he looked at his hand. The timer was still there...ticking away. It was strange. He had never seen anything like that before.

59:45...59:44...

Shaking his head, he continued running, pushing past multiple residents of Shibuya. It was strange. Nobody seemed to even notice the fact that Andre was running for his life. Or that he was pushing past so many other people. Today was just an all around strange day.

"No, no, no!"

Andre stopped running, as he jogged to a stop. Looking to the direction of the small cry, he noticed probably just about the thing to top off this wild day. Two strange...um...wolf...things? And a small girl who was pounding against the air...that somehow materialized into octagonal shaped...pieces of air? He didn't know how to describe it. It was like there was some invisible wall. If this was some wierd foreign magic trick....Andre knew he had to do something. He couldn't just leave her there to be prey for the weird wolves. Even though....no. No this wasn;t the time to be selfish.

"Damnmiiiiit." He groaned. He hoped he wouldn't regret the decision he was about to make. Running over to the girl, he didn't care who she was nor did she bother to ask for her name. He ran in front of her and guarded her with his body.

"Get back! Shoo! Shoo!" He screamed at the wolves as menacing as he could. They didn't seem to hear him as they continued to advance upon the pair. It was at this time Andre noticed their legs weren't entirely beast like. It was like...strange symbols that resembled legs...It almost looked like...graffiti. He could see his timer from his outstretched arm. From a distance he could see another girl struggling with three other frog creatures. He clenched his jaw. How was he supposed to help them both at once?

"Damniiiiit..." He groaned. He realized that the wall was bloccking the passsage from Scramble to 104. How were they supposed to complete the mission now?!

This was seriously the strangest day ever.

So, this was it.

This was the end.

The little brunette girl hadn't imagined that such a situation would become the end of her little tale. Yet, despite the throat-crushing screams, despite the native creatures ensnared within this urban setting, no one noticed -- no one cared that someone was at their end. So, Kusari closed her eyes tight, accepted that fate, and left the image of two wolves creeping closer to linger in her final thoughts.

Get back! Shoo! Shoo!

Blue eyes shot open. A scream slashed through the darkness and Kusari was beaconed to look up. Her figure froze, hands shaking and eyes bugged.

First, she was going to die by the claws of some wolves. Now, she was too afraid of the boy that had thrown himself in front of her. Death didn't seem nearly as scary now that she had to speak up.

Why was he trying to protect her? No! He must've had more important things to deal with; he could've just let her be! Taking a quick glance over at the wolves, who had begun to growl louder and louder as they snuck closer, an idea popped into the girl's head. She had to get this boy away, but, now that there was a chance, she had to get herself out of there, too.

What did she do? The most brilliant thing she could think of... and the most awkward one.

"N... no!"

Hand jumping out, it curled around the boy's hand. She tugged back on it and turned her foot away, bracing for a chance to run away.

SHING!

A light flooded from the connection, a blue light that was warm and comforting but also unnerving and blinding.

Two words came into Kusari's thoughts, like keywords entered into a search engine.

PACT

PARTNER
Oh no... What had she done...

Looking out from his hood, the boy's hazel eyes narrowed. Jax realized the wolves weren't going to relent as they become more hostile, closing in on the pair.

"N... no!"

Looking back to investigate the source of the cry, his eyes spotted the girl just moments before her hand wrapped around his own as she turned to run. The girl was probably not strong enough to pull him, however it wouldn't matter in the next few moments.
SHING!

A brilliant blue light enveloped the two. It was warm...it felt safe. However, it was exhilarating. Andre felt the need to close his eyes and bask in it's comfort. He opened them again, now full of new found vigor.

PACT
PARTNER

These words ran through Andre's mind and he looked to the girl. Was that her? Did that light signify that she was his Partner? How did she do that? Why did he need a Partner?

"Um...what just happened?" He inquired, not really fishing for an answer. However the problem at hand was still unresolved...

This light... It was so warm, inviting -- like a big hug of the ethereal sorts. Kusari closed her eyes, embracing this warm yet cool light. For once, she wasn't afraid.

But the light disappeared, releasing Kusari and this boy from its grip. That comfort was gone and returned was the overwhelming pressure of anxiety and fear. Glancing down, the girl spotted her hand and released it, as if repulsed by the fact that she was holding someone's hand. (Ewwwww.) However, looking ahead, the wolves were still there, but there was one difference: their eyes were wide, terrified by what they had just witnessed.

The paralyzing fear didn't last long, though: they narrowed their eyes, as if examining their prey, and then took another step forward. Twin growls encircled around the pair of teens, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Shaking her head, Kusari growled, glancing aside.

Um...what just happened?

Even if she had an answer, she couldn't -- wouldn't -- speak up about it. Instead, she kept her silence, glancing around for any way out of this mess.

Without an idea, without a clue, Kusari took action. She tugged on the boy's arm and made a run for it, back towards the Scramble Crossing. She couldn't leave him, no matter how scared of him she was!

The girl tugged his arm and began to break into a run, heading back towards the Scramble. Andre shifted his feet and began to trail behind her, running so she wouldn't be tugging at an immoveable object.

"Um, you do know that's going in the opposite direction right?" He piqued. Why was she taking him this way? He thought about that girl who was cornered by those frog things. He couldn't just leave her! This was going to be a long day. "Are you gonna to speak to me? Or you just gonna ignore me for the whole day?" He said lightly. He didn't want to make this little girl mad. After all, they were partners now.

The boy stared at his cell phone and grimaced. He had no idea what any of that meant. Like at all. Noise? Like...that thing people make? Harriers? Supports? He just wanted to stare at his wing all day. Bishop wondered if he could fly with it. He raised his hand.

"Excuse me, wingmen? Can I fly with this?" He said brightly, pointing at the wing on his back. "Can you guys? Show me, show me!"

Yukira gritted her teeth. Her mind was racing wildly. The mutant frogs had her surrounded, and she had nowhere to go. Can I do something to distract them? I just need to get away... to 104. Maybe once I get there, and complete this stupid game, these things will stop coming after me.

From the corner of her eye, she saw a young girl and boy running past her. She could have sworn she saw the boy glance in her direction. Was that just me, or did he actually see me? If so... then is he...? If they were all heading towards 104, they could help each other. If she could just get away from these frog freak of natures...

She shifted on her back so she was sitting up in a better position- causing her to feel something foreign in her jeans pocket- and got a better look at the frogs that circled her, as if waiting for another opportune moment to strike. They were shaped like ordinary frogs, sure enough, but she caught notice of their strange legs. They seemed to be made up of something intangible and disconnected- like a tattoo or something. These things just get weirder and weirder...

A couple of them began to crouch lower, about to spring, and Yukira did the only thing she could do. She got up on her two feet as fast as she could and rushed straight at them, hoping she could break through as the frogs were in the air.She felt the impact of another one behind her, but it only helped to push her forward, as the other frogs landed where she used to be. Ignoring the pain and scratches she received from her fall, she recovered and got up, running as fast as she could towards the section that divided the Scramble and 104.

[HI I'M SORRY THAT THIS IS SO LATE ;A;]

clickclickclick!

Um, you do know that's going in the opposite direction right?

Silence surrounded Kusari as she dashed back towards the Scramble Crossing. She kept a tight grip on Andre's hand and kept on running, not daring to look back towards the wolves or Hachiko. The Scramble faded back into her sights, as did the swarms of people that had engulfed it.

But she never once dared to answer Andre. She didn't mean it in a rude way -- she was just too scared to talk! (Unfortunately, he didn't know that, but she hoped that he wouldn't take it the wrong way.)

Are you gonna to speak to me? Or you just gonna ignore me for the whole day?

Despite his light words, Kusari flinched. The run stalled, turning into a trot and then a halt. For a moment, the idea of the wolves stalking them slipped her mind.

"N... no..."

The answer was ambiguous -- which question did it even apply to? Kusari didn't answer and didn't dare turn around, afraid to let anyone see her. If she turned around, he would've seen the red tint in the whites of her eyes and he would've known that something was wrong: that she was too scared of this whole situation -- being someone's "partner," having to talk to them, being cornered by weird animals, and... well, having woken up on the Scramble Crossing, too. All of it was weird, all of it was scary. She let go of Andre's hand and took a few steps forward, rubbing her eyes.

shish!

Kusari's blue orbs shot open and stared ahead. In the midst of the crowds, something appeared before them. More animals with weird graffiti limbs... What were these things?

Shaking now, the girl shoved her hand into her pocket, as if hoping that she possessed something that would help them. Quirking a brow, she withdrew an item and held open her palm, staring at the find.

A pin? It had a big, stylized shadow on it with bright red eyes. The shadow looked scary, malicious and vicious. But how was a pin going to save them?

------------------

The Players were squirming, trapped and encaged beyond the walls that surrounded them. The thought alone made Kage grin a wicked grin. He watched as wolves cornered the little kid and then, off in the distance, some frog Noise cornering a girl before 104. Aww... she was so close to getting out of there, too! Ha, too bad the Noise were going to erase her before she could even get through.

At this rate, the Players would've easily been erased before the end of the day -- maybe even in the next 5 minutes! Kage would've surely received a promotion for this. After all, could any of the other Gamemasters erase all of the Players in a day? He thought not.

shing!

The man's golden eyes bugged. He lurched forward, gripping the edge of the rooftop, and stared down below.

A bright blue light and two Players...

"No, no, no, dammit no!" he hissed, furious. It was as if smoke was slithering through his bared teeth, and enough force was pumping into his hands to even break a chunk of concrete off of the wall.

No! These stupid Players couldn't win! He was supposed to win! He was the bad guy! Growling, he lurched back, taking a few fast breathes; it did nothing to quell his fury. Watching as the two Players dashed off towards the Scramble while the other girl escaped the frog Noise, Kage was getting more and more infuriated. How did they even escape?!

As the two kids dashed into the Scramble, something sparked in Kage's sights. It was a flash of static -- the sign of Noise being summoned. But the thing was... no one did it. No Harriers, no Wall Reapers... Who could've summoned that Noise?

He had an idea or two... It was enough to drain the tan-tint from his face, enough to make his eyes bug. He snarled, his eye twitching.

"Oh (#$%!) no..."

"N... no..."

Um...what.Was that seriously her answer? Andre raised his eyebrows in calm acceptance, feeling a bit sorry for the girl. She was probably terrified. The girl let go of her hand and stepped forward a bit. More graffiti creatures could be seen ahead. He stepped forward a couple of paces behind her, but keeping a comfortable amount of distance between him and his new partner.

"Hey...um..it's okay yknow? You can talk to me..." He began, however, noticing the girl from before running in the same direction they were running. He had felt bad for leaving her before. He wouldn't do it again. However, he and his partner had problems of their own. More creatures were closing in on both parties position. He had to move fast. He looked around-almost frantically- for something, anything to utilize as a weapon. Perhaps something to throw? He was getting desperate. If he didn't act now...he didn't even want to linger on the thought.

Andre burrowed his hand into his pocket, his cell phone was going to be his weapon of choice today. In fiddling around in his pocket, he felt two other objects. Those would work much better than wasting his cellphone. Pulling out both items they looked like...pins? How was that going to help???

"Damniiiiiit..." He whispered. One of the pins to the shape of a red spray can. The other, a wisp of some sort. It looked sharp. Perhaps a shockwave? Instantly the red pin began to glow. "Whoa what the-?" It flashed hot red, and disappeared in small trails of light. Unknown to the boy, the drawing of the pin branded itself on the back of his neck, creating what looked like some black tattoo. As odd as what just abruptly happened was, his situation was not any better than before.

"Stay behind me!" He called to his partner, running in front of her to the two creature in front of them. He'd take them out first, then go help the other girl. He just prayed she'd be fine in those few moments without him.

"Eat this, you son of a-" He called out to the creatures as he prepared to throw the pin as hard as he could at them. Hopefully it would distract them long enough. Or it could do absolutely nothing. Andre wasn't able to finish his sentence however, because upon release, the pin exploded into a downward curving shockwave in the motion of his attempted throw, that instantly decimated one of the creatures.

Andre's hazel eyes widened at his unexpected success. He exhaled, adrenaline and oxygen coursing through his body. He was excited, relieved, and surprised at the same time.

"Please tell me someone saw how dope that was..." He remarked, smirking at his accomplishment.

"HEY!!" He called out to the other girl. "Don't worry! We'll be right there! Hang on!" He shouted, volunteering the pair's aid. He looked back at his partner and gave her a reassuring smile.

I'll protect them. I won't fail again.
