LUNAR DIRGE
A Snowdog/Rhythm Collaboration
LUNAR DIRGE
A Snowdog/Rhythm Collaboration
Set in an expansive universe of metal and magic, whole colonies are divided, with space itself as the boundary. The only ruling force is that of the Empyreal Order, a fair but dictating government that seeks the destruction of a number of outer colonies in order to achieve peace. These colonies are known as the Homeworlds of the infamous Pirate settlements and the Elusive Ninja clans. For centuries their kind have been pitted against one another, seemingly plunging the entire galaxy into restlessness for as long as anyone can remember.
The Empyreal Order hope to rectify this ceaseless war and bring harmony to the worlds, but little do they know the scheme of things. The Demon planet houses the monstrous male Oni and the seductive female Siren. These creatures are the bane of interplanetary traversal and are the sworn enemies of the Ninja and Pirates respectively, apart from each other, of course. An even more sinister force lies behind these creatures, and it may very well prove that the Empyreal Order is not all the Pirates and Ninja need worry about.
In the end, these bitter rivals will have to put their differences aside and work together, if they may have any hope for the future.
Meanwhile, all forces are amassing, and if these two great factions can't save the galaxy, then perhaps a young child can. A child with the unusual ability to devour the "Power Cores" of mechanised units, and harvest a power unlike the worlds have ever seen.
_________________________
Well I've put a little more effort into it now, but more things need to be sorted out, such as names and the like, so this thread is still under construction. It's OOC, so this is where out of character discussions will take place. I'll show you guys the Template style soon, but the templates will NOT go into this thread, but a template specific thread, so navigating for info about everyone's characters won't prove as troublesome.
NOTE: The name "Lunar Dirge" comes from the custom that graveyards in this world are only located on the moons.
We've got several factions to choose from:
The Empyreal Order - Are basically the miliatary organization of this RP. They're very strict and tempered and clean and ordered and all of those sorts of things. Their homeworld is November; a very capitalist-esque society with all sorts of rules and regulations, but as a result it is very modernized and very colorful and appealing to the eye.
They began to production of mechanised units almost a century ago and advancements have sky-rocketed since then. The Machination Moon is an artificial planet-type space station where the mechs are constructed. Millions are made weekly but they won't function without Power Cores, which are forged on the mining settlement of Ardunne, the only known planet to bear the rare ore known as "Powium" or just "Pow".
The Mercenaries
Planet: Arius
The Mercenaries are a neutral faction like the Merchants and work for the highest bidder. Some are Privateers; converted Pirates, and others are Bounty Hunters; usually exiled from their respective Ninja clans and stripped of signet power. But most are hard-working soldiers who kill for the food on their family's table, using brute force and sheer luck to overcome their enemies.
The Merchants - Are a race of Gypsy-like wanderers who can't stay on their own planet for too long. Also neutral, they salvage from great intergalactic battles and perform tricks and even some hints of actual magic to make a living. They pilot merchant vessels with firepower of their own, but they are slightly more difficult to manage with when faced up against a mech.
The Ninja - Each Ninja belongs to a sub-faction or "Clan". These clans, along with knowing the basic arts of the Ninja, also possess secret techniques of their own which tap into the many elements of the universe. However, they can only be accessed through the power of the clan's "Signet". This might be found on a ring or other source of clothing, a weapon, or even in the form of a tatoo. When a Ninja is exiled, the signet is removed, by any means necessary. Ninja technicians have learned to replicate the design of the Mechs and produce those of their own, but not to the same scale as the Machination Moon. They steal the power cores from their enemies to use on their modified variants.
The Pirates
Planet: Korsan
Just as Ninja have sub-factions, so are the Pirates categorised into "Crews". A Pirate is only as good as the reputation of his Captain, and if you just so happen to be the Captain, then you're only as good as the reputation of your Crew. The Great Pirate Lords of old have always sort the power of the "Curses". They are usually incurred quite randomly, and a Pirate will receive a Curse solely on luck, or their insatiable lust for treasure. But if a Pirate is lucky enough to be cursed, they'll have what it takes to lead a crew without revolt. Curses instill the ability of an animal (mythological included) upon the pirate, so an eagle curse might grant the pirate the power to manifest wings and talons and the like. Pirates will usually adopt the mannerisms of such animals as well.
Pirates steal the Mechs from their enemies and outfit them with further weapons and armor. Their mechs also combine to form giant warships when navigating space or for that insane power boost.
"Fleet Mode" is an ability shared by both the Order's Navy and the Pirates, where these warships travel and fight together for events such as great wars or full-frontal assaults.
PLANETS
Korsan
In the bigger scheme of things, the planet Korsan, home planet to the legions of pirates that swarm this universe, isn’t really that big of a place. It is roughly the size of our Mars, and has approximately seven moons.
Approximately 83% of Korsan is covered in water, and there are no real continents, or large land masses. Put simply, the planet is dotted with island groups, some quite large, comprising of up to one hundred islands of varying sizes, and some quite small, down to the odd solitary island. The islands themselves do not differ much in their appearance, other than their dimensions. All share the lush, tropical plant life, the shimmering white beaches, the quaint little coastal towns, and the bustling harbours. The weather is almost always pleasant, with the sun shining high in the endless blue skies, however, now and again, tropical storms rise from the ocean. They are rarely ever anything to worry about, unless, of course, one is sailing the ocean in a less-than-steady vessel. Larger islands are home to deep valleys, and dominant mountains. Jungle is the prevailing environment here.
The planet itself is quite intense from time to time. Crews often bicker amongst themselves, and fights take place quite often, however, there is little cause for worry, for these disagreements rarely turn into anything more than a fistfight. However, from time to time, wars break out, with crews joining together to support others involved in some sort of disagreement. However, there is a strong sense of fraternity between all pirates, and will all jump to defend their own kind should outsiders threaten them at all.
Korsan's pirates, having ransacked the planet, and turned it into their own base, as it were, have turned to mechs to continue to carry out their activity. Rather than thieving from eachother, they use mechs to travel to other planets, and steal their goods.
The ones holding the most sway upon the planet are the most powerful pirate crews. There are a number of them, and they are infamous upon Korsan's seas for their deeds. Naturally, they tend to have the most say over what happens to their planet, and are responsible for defending their home world. Though Korsan has little rules, the general consensus is that what they say goes. Their will is done, for the most part.
The largest town upon the world is Port Ketua. It lies within the largest island group, the Hijau Archipelago, and is the centre of all trade, and activity upon the world. It is also home to the majority of mechs, and vessels.
Arius
Large in size and huge in population, Arius is a crowded, bustling planet. It has two moons, both of which are substantial. All manner of people live and work upon the planet, from Pirates, to Ninja, including Merchants and just about any other faction you could think of. As a result, the place is varied in any way imaginable. The landscape is similarly varied, comprising of vast plains, deep valleys, proud mountain ranges, and dense forests. There is a single large land mass, which rings the planet about the middle, surrounded by two oceans, which are littered with very small island communities, home to some of the more obscure groups that live upon the planet. Arius’ largest city, Esker, hugs the south coast of the continent.
That's it for now, I have work and other such things to deal with. Here's a basic template to work on for now:
