I think both, for me too.

I love the movies, awesome actors, they did great with the story line, and it was just some of the coolest stuff I have ever seen.

Also, the books are very rich with detail. And there's even more to the story I already loved.

The books go more in-depth than the movies do. In my opinion, the books greatly surpass the movies.

Well ina movie you can't really delve into the characters thoughts and the movie can onlky explain so much in three hours, books hve more space to do that. The reason I like the movie is that they greatly captured the books in the piture.

In terms of entertainment and making you want to have more, the movies far surpassed the books. Tolkien put TONS of detail into the story which made it rather boring to read as every step Frodo takes would have 3 paragraphs worth of description. However, the movies were only so good due to the fact that Tolkien was really descriptive. They were able to make everything so precise, that it was amazing. However, that does not mean the books themself were bad. The books were great, except that I slept a lot while reading them, but hey, I forced myself to read them and I was glad that I did.

Yes. As much as I love the books I often had to take breaks. However they are excellent. My favorite though would have to be the Hobbit.

Have any of you ever watched the animated ones? The animated Return of the King is horrid. Just thinking about the "Frodo of the nine fingers" song is torture.

I say the books because they had more action and twists. The movies left a lot out. The movies are still great but I prefer the books.

I just love the movies, of course, all the sexy guys could have something to do with that....

The books had so much wonderful detail though. However, sometimes it just got plain annoying.

That is true OSOD somtimes it just dragged on and on. But the books had lots of cool stuff like Saruman's death. The books were just so great.
