A. It's all animal world
B. Donald has the ability to turn the group into animals( simple huh)
C. Nomura likes lions( hence that's why Sora was originally going to be a half human, half lion character in the get go), so this was probably his favorite world to work on.

P.S- Why does everyone have such a damn problem with Sora being lion in this world?

I went ballistic when I saw Sora as a lion . . . One, he's fuzzy(o___o!!!). Two, He's butt-naked! LOL! I love it!

And you'll probably become a lion the same way you became a mermaid(merman) in Atlantica, or an, uh . . . Halloween-y . . . thing in Halloween Town.
