Lenneth is really a different RPG from those most are used to. It's uber-linear, and the game progresses in chapters. You are given a set amount of points depending on your difficulty level to go to towns and dungeons. Enemies don't respawn, so the game depends on you to practice your combos. If you leave or get wiped out, those points are gone. Run out of points and the next chapter commences.
Silmeria is more of a flexible RPG. Enemies respawn, you can return to places as much as you want... However, this game is a sequel to Lenneth, so you may be quite lost at first. Motoi Sakuraba did the soundtracks for both games, and his battle themes stand out and are very memorable.
However, Lenneth's story is excellent, as was Silmeria's. I had Lenneth on my PS1, and now I have it on my PSP. It's a challenging RPG. I have Silmeria for PS2, and it's more of a traditional RPG than Lenneth is.
