I think Kingdom means that it's of the universal kingdom. Also, it could be related to Kingdom hearts, but on a different note, It's the confirmed Key of the light realm.

Hmmm...never really thought if that. Maybe all keyblades in their most basic form are called something to do with kingdom hearts, since Mickey's keyblade is called Kingdom Key D...Maybe the Key of Kingdom Hearts...?

I use to think that it had to deal with Disney Castle...but now im sayin that it has to deal with Kingdom Hearts, since Mickey's is called Kingdom Key D...and he found it in the dark realm/Kingdom Hearts.

and ya...the Kingdom Key is the official keyblade of the light...Kingdom Key D is the one of darkness...and Way to the Dawn is the inbetween one(the dawn keyblade).

^^ My thoughts exactly.

I'm sure the name "Kingdom Key" refers to "The key to Kingdom Hearts".

One for the Realm of Light and one for Dark, both are needed to close it.

And for those who didn't catch the end of KH1 (when you more than likely had another keychain equipped) Sora only held the Kingdom Key for the final cutscene.

The Way to the Dawn is a light keyblade. There is no dawn, twilight, or in-between keyblade. Only light and dark. Riku was originally supposed to get a keyblade of light, but then he turned to darkness, so it found someone else.

Keyblades don't have affinity. Keychains do.

when did people start sayin riku was the real keyblade bearer

KH1 when it was written bluntly in Jiminy's Journal. Nomura then confirmed the KK was originally Riku's in an interview he gave about KH1 back in the day, saying that in his scenario, Sora took the KK from Riku in DI. Remember right before Riku disappeared? The Darkness ate both of them up. Then there was a flash of light, and then Riku was gone and Sora was left with the Keyblade.
That flash of Light, going by Nomura, was the Light in Riku's Heart. Sora literally reached in and pulled the Keyblade out of Riku. He didn't become the KK's true Wielder until Hollow Bastion though, when the KK chose him over Riku.

I know the keychains are the main part of the keyblades...the keychains reflect the wielders heart...and shows their power from within

and ok...thank u Smile for tellin me that...i havent read that anywhere yet.....

They're not, actually. They give shape to the Keyblade's ridiculous strength, but a Keychain is as good as Sora's necklace or Kairi's good luck charm without a Keyblade to slap it on.

It's also hinted towards in the FM+. The Lingering Sentiment - namely, a representative of Terra - tells Sora he wasn't the one he chose for the Keyblade. Nomura confirmed that in FM+ there's a scene confirming Riku was a chosen wielder. Add it all up and there you have it.

Question pertaining to Mickey. Why does he go searching for the Inverse Kingdom Key when he already has Star Seeker?

1) Retconning. He wasn't planned to have the Star Seeker at the time and needed a Keyblade
2) The Star seeker possibly wouldn't have helped much in locking the Door to Kingdom Hearts. For that, matching Keyblades from both sides of the door were needed. The Star Seeker was from the Realm of Light. They needed a Keyblade from the Realm of Darkness.
