Kingdom Hearts Unchained X[chi] Walkthrough Help

Okay, I really suck at Kingdom Hearts Union x Cross. I really do, considering it's the only Kingdom Hearts game I have put little effort into in the past. But I made it to Savage Shark at Mission 725. Can anyone help me figure out how to break a boss who is blocking my medals? I was using Olympia. My Fairy Stars Keyblade is too weak at the moment. The medals I have are Hades, Hydra, Sora/Roxas, Simba, and Mickey. All 6 star medals. Olympia is at Level 25. I don't have enough Jewels to get any more medals at the moment and I can't spend money at the moment to get ingredients to level the keyblade up higher. What should I do in the meantime?

The shark keeps blocking my medal attacks! None of the medals do damage. It only hits like 1. How do I break the shield or something he has that keeps blocking my medals? And what triggers the boss to start blocking my medals? I'm not sure if this was answered before.

This isn't the only boss that does it. I fought the Mean Maiden and she did the same.


Also, and this might sound stupid, but what is a buff medal/ debuff medal and what does that mean? Anyone have a visual of what that means. It's been a while since I played this game, and I've had people tell me to focus on it, but I don't know what it is.

I am kinda a noob, I have been playing the game for a bit by am at a loss. Almost caught up on story, level 300 right now (having a real hard time leveling up.) Also my damage on my keyblades / medals does not seem to be growing how it use to. Any advice for how to advance in this game? I love playing it I just need help lol. It is the global version. I've been playing since launch so I have managed to collect a lot of event, hsc, ux or otherwise limited medals. Some are kinda outdated but as a collector I value them a lot. Before the introduction of 7* medals my medal collection was 80% complete.
I've only been logging in for the dailies and an occasional pull for some time now so I'm not entirely sure which medals are considered good or bad any more. If you're looking for specific medals just let me know and I'll check my inventory for them.

I was wondering which trait build is more optimal on a medal like, say, Ultimate Form Sora:
Option 1:
Aerial Enemy Def -60%
Grounded Enemy Def -60%
STR +1000
STR +1000

Extra Attack: 120% Power

OR:
Option 2:
Aerial Enemy Def -60%
Grounded Enemy Def -60%
Extra Attack: 40% Power

Hypothetically. I don't have him yet. Planning to buy the WJE on monday, then I should only need a handful of jewels to hit the Mercy threshold.

Basically, is it better to have 3 times the power on the second cast or 1000 more Strength? I'm thinking 3x power. He already has over 30,110 base Strength, with another 3k if he lands 3x str traits, and 1k if he's boosted. Plus 1500 from his own skill (3k on his second attack), and another 1k seems like a miniscule buff compared to tripling the extra attack damage.

34,610 (35,610 boosted), and 1k more attack is a mere 3% or so increase. (I'm not factoring in keyblade boosts, they're irrelevant here, because the ratio will remain unchanged if everything is boosted by the same multiplier. Multiply everything by 10, and 10k is still only ~3% of 340k)
But second opinion, since I'm not really familiar with minmaxing or damage calculation in this game.
