Kingdom Hearts: The Next Generation

Chapter 1:

The Revelation

What? What’s happening to me? I feel like I’m falling… falling… falling. A burst of Light… My senses took over.

“Rosu! Rosu!” somebody called.

I managed to at least sit up and mumble, “I’m here.”

The wind off of the dark-blue sea carried my voice over the sand dunes.

“There you are, you silly goose!” A girl with long white-blonde hair ran up. Her beautiful, elfin features and bright blue eyes seemed to calm my nerves. She reached over and lightly slapped my forehead. “Your mom has been looking for you for ages. You had her worried. I was worried. Don’t ever do that again!”

“Sorry Katrina,” I managed to say. The shock of the situation seemed to make my tongue weigh like a 10 pound lead weight. What just happened was very important, but I couldn’t explain it. In fact, there were no words to explain what just happened to me. Even though, I had to try.

“Come on, let’s go.” Katrina took my hand and pulled me up.

Her hand in mine distracted me. I jerked mine out of her grasp.

“You’re distracting me. I have to tell you something!”

“What is it?”

“Something just happened to me,” I managed to say. “I was falling… there was a bright light…… My voice trailed away.

There was a pause before she burst out laughing. “You’re delusional! You’ve been out in the sun for too long. I bet you’re dehydrated!”The next thing I knew, she had her hand in mine again and she was dragging me down the sandy beach to my home.

When we got there, my mother came out and scolded me for being away from home for too long. Strangely, I could barely hear her. Her voice sounded as if it was coming through a long tunnel. And then, I passed out…..

I was back in the place again. There was the falling sensation, the burst of light, and then, something different. A man in a black coat stood before me. He whispered something barely audible: “Kingdom Hearts.”

Chapter 2:

Fear

“What do you mean by ‘Kingdom Hearts’?

The strange figure seemed to study me for a moment. He raised his arm and pointed behind me.

I turned around and saw a door. This was no ordinary door though. I had never seen one like this. All sorts of symbols and pictures were carved in to the surface. Here and there, stained-glass set in to the door gleamed, as if there was a gigantic reservoir of light behind it.

Open the Door

The voice seemed to come behind me. I spun around; the man was gone.
“Where’d you go?” I shouted.

Open the Door

This was starting to creep me out. The voice had a sort of reptilian accent to it. “Who are you? What are you ?”

All of a sudden, the door burst open. An unnatural force gripped me; it was as if the door was a gigantic vacuum and I was being sucked in to it. My feet lifted off of the ground.

Now I was really panicking. “Please! Stop!”

You aren’t brave enough. Until you accept your fear, you will never be able to go through the ceremony.

The mysterious figure appeared right in front of me. And, with his reappearance, the mysterious force disappeared.

You don’t belong here; not yet.

I fell…

Kingdom Hearts:
The Next Generation
Chapter 3:
Thoughts

A warm, soft object nudged my cheek. More like stroked it. My eyes fluttered open to see my mom's face above mine, crinkled with worry (and old age).

"W-What happened?" I managed to stutter. In a flash, all of the memories in the dark void came to me.
The cloaked man...

His voice...

The Door...
What was that Door? The pictures and symbols looked ancient, yet the structure looked completely modern.
Kingdom Hearts...
What is Kingdom Hearts?

Man, I thought, I sure have a lot of questions, but not a lot of answers.

My mom's answer startled me back in to reality.

"You fainted sweetie. Katrina, come here, he's awake."

Katrina scurried in to the room.

"You've given me two headaches in one day. Never scare us like that again," she exclaimed.

"I w-"... I was interrupted by the doorbell. Katrina went to go answer it.

There was mumbling... Barely audible mumbling.
Scuffling of feet... And, in walked my worst nightmare, the cloaked man from my 'dream'.

That's kind of what I wanted. The events in the Darkness will be explained in later chapters.

Chapter 4:

Names

I was in shock. The man from my vivid ‘dream’ , if that’s what it was. A fresh scar ran from the tip of his ear through is left eye to beneath his hairline. An eye patch stretched across his left eye, where the scar ran through. How did he get such a gruesome wound? I shuddered at the thought of it.

“Rosu, I presume?” He drawled.

“Yes,” I mumbled. My eyes darted to my mom and Katrina, trying to warn them about the man. Something was just not right about him. Their eyes stayed blank, like a statue. In fact, they were way too still.

“Mom, Katrina?” I whimpered.

“They can’t hear you,” the man spoke up.

“What have you done to them,” I yelled. Now I knew for sure, this man was dangerous.

“Nothing. This conversation would be unproductive if they heard it.”

There was a tingling sensation in my hand. A comfortable stick-like object appeared right where the tingling started.

A sword? I thought.

In a split second, I knew what must be done. I rushed them man, brandishing my sword to slice him in two. The fact that he did something to my friends angered me so. In fact, I saw red.

Right before my sword crashed in to him, I froze. My whole body stopped. I could only move my eyes. The man must have done the same thing to me that he had done to my mom and Katrina.

“Excellent,” the man exclaimed. “You can actually wield it. We will meet again in due time.”

The man flexed his fingers. A shadowy doorway appeared next to him. He opened it and already had one foot in when I blurted out, “What’s your name?”

“Your powers are even more impressive, if you can break the spell,” the man rambled.

“Answer me,” I yelled.

“Braig, and don’t you forget it!” And, then, the man, Braig, was gone.
