Yen Sid is a lousy teacher in general! He goes on about the Power of Waking and doesn't tell Sora how to get it or how to use it. Then there's the DDD situation of letting Xehanort almost get Sora and Riku in their test.

Yen Sid in general seems to have chronic bystander syndrome as he also did nothing during the events of BBS. It is somewhat framed as him not wanting to jump to conclusions but after "Eraqus' star blinking out" and him somehow knowing Xehanort and Terra were involved he should have intervened somehow but couldn't due to plot demands.

The plot demanding certain things to happen leaving him twiddling his thumbs despite it being illogical when looking at the whole issue closer is a thing that goes throughout the entire story though and it also counts for other characters who could be of great help in some situations yet are not even considered.
Sometimes just communicating and talking could prevent some problems yet Tetsuya "Surprising twist master" Nomura can't have that happening because it would be too easy and not "surprising".
Common sense? What's that?

Oh, I forgot about the Aqua part. Disagree about the rest, though. Riku and Mickey were both capable Keyblade Masters and definitely the best people avaiable to rescue Aqua, it's not really their fault the plot made them weaker to justify Sora's protagonism.

And well, the whole Keyblade Graveyard was a huge mess and he still showed up later, which is pretty fine in my opinion. He guided everyone throughout the game and it's not like they are babies, most of them had more than enough experience that they SHOULD have been able to formulate a strategy and do things on their own; there were 3 Keyblade Masters and Sora was pretty much one as well by that point, he can't babysit them forever.

The Aqua part, though. What an ass.
It's not like they're babies, yeah, but at the same time You don't immediately send someone to war when they BARELY had the time to recover after being stranded 10 years in a place that's comparison to HELL. You ALSO don't send the inexperienced to war. We haven't even seen what training Kairi and Lea went to, and how much they've grown. But if the Keyblade Graveyard's any indication, they clearly haven't grown much.

In his case I feel like it's more so on the lines of Square kinda bitting themselves in the ass by putting this kind of importance on a Disney character, making his use quite limited. I would be surprised if he shows up in Dark Road at all.

We haven't seen their training, but we knew what they did: fought in a simulation similar to a data scape. And only Kairi had no experience, Lea was literally the assassin of the Organization and one of their strongest fighters. Him having a Keyblade barely changed that since Re:Mind showed us he can still use his Chakrams so if anything, he's one of the more capable fighters in there.
Kairi wasn't really helpless either even if plot made her be. And it was a war situation, they couldn't really spare having another fighter sitting around anyways.

In Aqua's case she has PTSD's yeah which Re:Mind also shows is the reason she gets taken down so quickly, but the characters themselves didn't know that, I guess? Not even Aqua herself seemed to realize that, and she would have still gone anyways because that's just the kind of person she is.

What happened to showing the enemy's name over their health bars, like in 358/2 Days or Re:Coded? Yeah, we all know most of the enemies' names by heart, but I still found that such a cool detail. I dony wanna have to look up their Journal entry to see what they're named, even when I do know them by heart.

I'm personally used to no names on Heartless health bars. I guess it's just...a name wouldn't be the first thing to think of when you're on your toes fighting enemies with the intent of shredding you to ribbons. It kind of seems like a nice tidbit to look at in endgame when everything's calmer, but that's just me.

Well Jiminy's gotta name them all first *shrug*

Which does lead to additional questions of alternate playable characters still giving the same names to the same enemies despite not having Jiminy's journals as a reference point. Heck, did you ever notice nobody ever told Ventus about the Unverse? He wasn't there for Terra & Aqua's briefing & all the Disney folks just called them monsters. & yet he was familiar with the term in the graveyard.

So like, how the 13 darknesses are conveyed in KH3, it seemed like they didn't have all their darknesses. Something that even Larxene even confessed. So like...I get that many of DDD's continuity is thrown out the window, but uh....what the hell do we say to this?

I'm fairly certain the 12 that were there in DDD are the same 12 in KH3 pre-Xion's addition. After all, Xion is taking up Sora's place.

And it would still fit with Larxene's statement - at that point in the game, YX is still experimenting with putting a heart into puppet, aka making Xion a reality again, so they'd only have 12.

If they do a group shot of the 13 sitting in DDD, remember that Sora is in a seat too at that point to be number 13 before Riku and friends save him.

I don't like how they made Ventus appear to be so flip floppy in Re:mind. I don't wanna say it since I know it's bad writing yet he seemed

to me? Yeah I know it’s a stretch.

Ventus constantly dismissed Vanitas and would not join with him. He didn't need or want Vanitas. That was his position.

Upon Vanitas death scene, his position on "

changed once more. In the Japanese variant of Vanitas death scene, Ventus said he and Vanitas were their own individual. I was so confounded on what Ventus genuinely wanted Vanitas in the end.

I think technically even 12 at that point is a problem because in ReMind we learn that Terranort is only added after DDD as well

We shouldn't forget that the whole assembly in DDD was only possible due to the special properties of the World that never was as stated in the Ultimania, and yet that too seems to be a subplot that was dropped in KH 3 itself.

There were actually quite a few still open subplots from older games (like the two nearly identical chambers, how exactly Terra's, Xehanort's and Eraqus' memories were divided between Ansem SoD and Xemnas just to name a few examples) that were dropped, but I guess all the whole Union X baiting and unnecessary references to it needed more room.

Since the KBG scene with Xigbar/Saix/MX takes place shortly after DDD as they reference the rest "returning to their respective times", and MX in that scene already knew he'd use Terra's body again to make a new Terranort, it's not too out there for Terranort, or even an unnorted Terra's empty body, to be sitting in one of those chairs.

That's a particularly weird one because I feel BBS already kinda killed the significance of the Chamber of Waking with the LoD/Castle Oblivion trick, but then it was brought up again in 0.2, only for it to be ignored in 3.

White Mage Minnie, Archer Daisy, and Dragoon Pluto when? I mean...c'mon people.
mickey-mouse-and-friends-clipart-1.png
With Minnie, Daisy, and Pluto basically being apart of main Mickey Mouse cast......they seem pretty damn shafted. Just saying.
Spoiler Spoiler Show

That being said, everyone is devising the idea of Minnie & Daisy being party members for Kairi, should she....ever get her own game. Add Pluto to the mix and I'd say it's a good place to give the three some relevance.

That being said in regards of classes, the one thing I'd honestly love to see from the three is this: Minnie as a White Mage, something we've already seen in KH2 during her escort mission. Daisy as an Archer, a class completely different. I kinda prefer that idea than her just being a mage like Donald.

And finally, the idea of Pluto being a Dragoon is just...interesting. I can imagine the dog using both his teeth and his tail to grip his lance. It kinda enforces the idea of a guard dog.

So yeah, MDP Shafted af and that needs to change. They're apart of the main Mickey Mouse cast for god's sake.

This is a minor nitpick but one that annoyed me recently the more I see it. So in the Keyblade Graveyard we have Ansem, Terranort, Dark Riku, and Vanitas all in the Organization black coats and then they randomly taken them off in a cutscene only to put them back on later.

Terranort goes from wrecking the Guardians of Light in his regular clothes one minute to returning in the black cloak with the hood up the next appearance, and is then fighting with it off again. Like what? Why put it on in the first place just to throw it off?

Same with Dark Riku. He shows up first in his dark suit to summon Heartless. Then he appears with the group in the black coat. Then it's off again when he fights. But then when his heart/soul is ripped out of his body the Replica has the coat on again as if it had been there all along. WTF?!

If the 13 Seekers of Darkness don't need the black coats and battle in dark suits then why not give everyone one? Don't get me wrong I love the Organization coat but it's inconsistent with the members that were not originally part of the old org, minus Young Xehanort.

The idea that Luxord, Saix, Larxene, and Marluxia returning to their natural states. Or the idea that they became Nobodies again willy nilly. I was under the impression that turning into a Heartless/Nobody was a rare thing and eventful thing(nobodies) but it happens in the background like it's not a big deal. Demyx and Vexen are another can of worms.

Also Data Sora and Riku deserved more than a callback in 3.

Plot twist, Marluxia and Larxene don't get recompleted as Sora thought and he straight up murdered them in the KG and only learns that detail by KH4.

I like to imagine it's a compromise they made with Xehanort. They're very uncomfortable in them when fighting, but will wear it when they aren't.

I think Dark Riku's can be explained that maybe he summons the dark suit over the coat, like how it would replace Riku's normal clothes. Probably how Vanitas did it too. Just turned his suit on when he wanted it. Would have been nice to see, though...

Also Data Sora and Riku deserved more than a callback in 3.
I'm still bugged Donald and Goofy didn't recognize the Darkubes as Bug Blox.

Plot twist, Marluxia and Larxene don't get recompleted as Sora thought and he straight up murdered them in the KG and only learns that detail by KH4.
He'll meet them in the Reapers' Game.
