Every big bad in Kingdom Hearts is either a Xehanort or somebody similar to him in personality. We need a villain who doesn’t side with Light or Darkness, one who just wants to see the world go mad. It could really shake the villain hierarchy to have an antagonist who just wants to laugh at his own chaotically evil deeds. Also I don't mean a pre existing character with this kind of mindset (even though Kefka or Bill Cipher as a boss fight would be cool). I mean a new antagonist

How is MoM similar to Xehanort in personality (other than "manipulative" and "prideful" I suppose, but they're like that in different ways). Also how is Maleficent similar to Xehanort in personality

I meant overarching antagonists so Maleficent counts a lot less than the others. As for MoM, it’s mostly the manipulation and his reliance on contingency plans. However, now that investors given the matter some thought, their motivations of using Kingdom Hearts to bring some new form of order to the worlds can be similar. I mainly think the idea of a trickster villain in Kingdom Hearts is oils be a fun twist on the norm

I mean if ya meant overarching then we've only had one "Big Bad" pre-Master of Masters.

True. I just get a lot of Xehanort vibes in MoM’s motivations. Like I get the upcoming arc is probably gonna be MoM’s time as the Big Bad but maybe somewhere along the road we could get something like what I’ve suggested. Heck, maybe this chaotic villain could pull a Dimentio and take over the role after the Guardians of Light beat MoM for him

I feel like the MoM is textbook "chaotic" in personality. His theme song goes all over the place to indicate an almost unsteady jumbled and unexpected nature.

Though I suppose you are thinking less strictly chaotic personality and more chaotic goals...?

Personally I feel there is going to be a lot of chaos dealing with MoM because while it seems clear he says he wants to defeat darkness...is it not opposed to doing "dark" things in order to get his way. Maybe more like a chaotic good character who from the perspective of our heroes is behaving in a villainous or exploitive manner. Because while he might end up being the villain, I assume "Darkness" is actually the real villain we are likely looking at at the end of the road? So MoM really might end up being this strange force manipulating things who ultimately isn't above using people to reach his goal but also isn't really BAD (we think?)

Speaking of, Luxu would probably be your best bet for "chaotic" villains if he ends up splitting off from whatever plan the MoM has cooked up.

I just think there is too much unknown about MoM to really classify him one way or the other.

In terms of "wanting to see the world go mad"-- what do you think that would look like in the KH universe? My reading on that would assume someone who is interested in upheaving the status quo in some dramatic way just to see what would happen. For example-- someone who would be interested in rejoining all the fragmented worlds again to see how they would be able to interact together after so much time apart. Chaotic for sure, but not necessarily evil. If however you are thinking more in terms of like smaller scale villainy -- like some sort of imp character who shows up to steal stuff at random? Just wondering what sort of scale of hijinks you are imagining.

Maybe personally I feel like chaotic evil villains who are evil just to be evil tend to be pretty flat and dull unless they are written with a very good foil or very, very carefully. Otherwise they tend to just be annoyances rather than intriguing. Like that one murder hobo guy at your DnD table constantly chucking a wrench at the plot. Theres a reason a lot of DMs ban that at their table because its so hard to play right.
