As part of our on-going coverage of Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, I have spent a handful of hours playing through Square Enix and Disney's latest adventure in the Kingdom Hearts series.

During Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory's pre-release coverage it was known that you could play and compete with others online. Unfortunately you can't choose who you go up against.

By inputting what difficult you want to play on and whether or not you want to utilise tricks, the game will seek out an opponent with the same requirements for you to go up against. There doesn't seem to be an option, at least on PlayStation 4, for you to choose a person on your friends list to play against.

The same can be said for the co-op mode. Like the demo, it is only couch co-op and you can't invite a friend to join you in it unless you utilise the shareplay feature on PlayStation 4 and have join as a second controller.

It is currently unknown if Square Enix will patch the game to allow you to play with your friends but for now all you can do is match and swap your ProfiCard with strangers.

Reminder: This is NOT the thread to talk about the end of the game or spoilers.

if y’all want to know what real joy is, it’s setting your game to Proud + Tricks On and waiting for the game to matchmake you until you find your friend in another region who also set their game to those options because nobody would be that crazy to play VS that way.

Alternatively, the dev team could just add an invite function in the game so you can play with friends.

Did it work? Did you catch a live reaction of that moment to share with the world?

And then we were stuck on Proud mode with tricks activated because you can't change after the fact :(

Also, you can choose someone to rematch immediately after getting your rewards but I can't seem to be able to go to their ProfiCard that's saved and manually invite them to rematch either.

I thought no online play was known a long time ago. Anyways, Share Play sounds like a shortcut to an online mode, but it just seems like SE doesn’t want to support servers for the game. Does the Switch have a feature similar to Share Play? Or do you have to meet up with a friend for co-op.
