Idea: the player character from UX ended up in the Quadratum at the same time as Xehanort due to their connection but forgot who they were along the way and is now a fourth wal breaking crackpot that believes all his friends abandoned him

Sorry for coming off a bit oblivious. Yes, I am aware that Missing-Link is obviously going to be a gacha game. What I think I was trying to get at is if the entire story will be released when Missing-Link will launch, like what they're doing with the rest of Dark Road. I do think that there will be story updates like Union X [cross] so that we have something to tide us over for Kingdom Hearts IV's release. But, given the fact the game will seemingly have voice acting akin to the main games in the series, I was thinking they would release the whole story in one fell swoop.
My point about it being a gacha game is that they will need consistent content to keep people playing and buying into their game economy. This can only be supported by having frequent story updates alongside whatever they will be selling.

Dark Road is only releasing as a whole now because the service is dead and they aren’t making money on it anymore. Before UX ended, it was receiving updates (inconsistently haha) and had a difficulty curve that required you to grind and spend to keep on top of the story updates.

Not gonna lie, I personally would’ve traded Missing Link for a Kairi side game for the Switch.

Maybe it could take place around the same time as KH4 and also use a revised command deck and have you switch between Kairi and Aqua (both a single party).
I'd trade it for any game on Switch. A rhythm game and cloud streaming being the extent of the series' presence* is mind-numbing. Get the NEO team on something, remake Days, commission a Warriors title, a Nintendo worlds game with Grand Central Station as the hub, Dissidia KH, SOMETHING!

*And Smash too technically.

Non-voiced conversations to check in on characters would be absolutely perfect. It'd be significantly more budget-efficient and give huge fans like us a bunch of extra text to dig into without having to necessarily link to the main story.

I don't think Quadratum is the actual end all and be all afterlife. If it was it'd be anticlimactic and lessen the stakes about dying as soon as people returned to the real world. What I personally theorize is that it is such for people who have been banished from reality, meaning that if Kairi died back then she would be dead for good, but Sora committing a nature taboo has thrown him here. Basically the idea of a specific Purgatory.

After watching the announcement trailer for 358/2 times i just realized that unless Goofy's new VA can imitate perfectly Goofy's previous JP VA's voice, Goofy and Donald's part were recorded in 2019 since that's the year where Shimaka Yuu passed away.

It may be the new voice actor but i don't have any way to check if it's him since Goofy doesn't talk too much in MoM and he doesn't talk at all in remind

Is Quadratum an afterlife for everyone. I got the notion it was only so for Sora and Strilitzia (that she/we know of). She made it seem like it’s an actual world but they were the only people in that world who arrived after their death.

Thank you for the correction regarding the nature of Missing-Link. Looks like the fans will have to endure additional waits for story updates...again.

Could Strelitzia have been banished because she shows up in Lauriam's dream and also tells him not to hate Ven or whatever?

No, it isn't. It's well established that normally, when someone dies in KH universe, their heart joins Kingdom Hearts, which is roughly equivalent to the concept of World Soul in Hinduism and Buddhism. That means, they cease to exist as an individual. However, there are exceptions for this rule. Some worlds have a form of afterlife specific to them. So far we have seen two of these, Underworld in Olympus and Davy Jones' Locker in Caribbean.

The official translation of UX is very unclear (or censored) about this, but from the unofficial one we can see that the Master of Masters wanted to avoid wasting a large number of lives in the Keyblade War. I don't think he created Quadratum (he said it is too strange even for him to understand), but he discovered its existence and connected it to KG to function as its world specific form of afterlife, so the people who died in the war would end up there.

Now, let's consider all the people we know are in Quadratum:
  • From Yen Sid at the end of Melody of Memory we know that "Ancient Masters", which must refer to the foretellers, went there. They died in the Keyblade War in KG.
  • Sora disappeared from Destiny Islands, but the breaking of the laws of nature that resulted in his disappearance happened in KG. In that sense he sealed his fate there.
  • The last time we saw Luxord, he was dying in the KG. We assumed that he would be recompleted, but if that failed to happen for some reason, then he would have ended up in Quadratum.
  • For Strelitzia, we don't know for sure. There seem to be two possibilities. First, it's possible that the ark/lifeboat can transport people directly to Quadratum, and Luxu simply sent her there with it. Second, she could have been sent into the future just like the others, landed in some world (which must have been KG for this theory to work), and then there wasn't anyone there to summon her body back. I would assume that after some time in limbo, she became dead again.

Data-Strelitzia
- Died well before the Dandelions and Union Leaders were transferred to Data Daybreak Town
- Her data should still exist (like everyone else who died/didn't transfer), but Lauriam never finds her
- She is last seen being escorted by a black coat

She was the "True Dandelion" Luxu sent somewhere with the machine. I guess this is technically not 100% confirmed, but it's good enough for me.

Sora is doing his usual thing in Quadratum

beating up Heartless and shit.

He looks to see a black hooded figure facing away from him and immediately starts a confrontation cuz he still thinks that Org XIII is the only group that wears black hoods

The figure turns around...and starts spouting shit about equations.

I wish... The name Quadratum screams equations to me, so it'd be great to have him around.

I keep hoping for Hanekoma to be in Quadratum; preferably as the owner of the Bow Meow café you can see in the Data Greeting level design. I want a scene in which he picks apart Sora's gummiphone, and I want him to be able to casually step across realities.

Also, that gameplay footage looks so underwhelming and I'm surprised they even presented it. Why not just leave it at cutscenes and pre-rendered footage.

Movement and interaction with the environment looks great. the environments themselves look below awful. Uniform lighting. Bland textures. Nondescript buildings. Empty interiors.

I know it's a work in progress and will look nothing like this upon release. So why show it at all. People who aren't KH fans will see that and think "the heck is this fan made tech demo?"

Also, thank fook it's UE5. Jeez. Do we know which teams are working on this? Is there any chance SE Europe devs will be involved?

UE5 bodes well for the lighting and texture issues.

Also the full backwards compatibility with UE4. Hopefully helps with concerns that SE is so incompetent that upgrading an eight year old engine is beyond their capabilities as a developer.

The fact so many people are genuinely concerned about this (enough to actually state they'd prefer SE didn't upgrade!) should be a mark of shame for any credible publisher or developer.

Let alone one of the world's most prestigious ones. Teen youtubers are assuring viewers all of their UE4 tutorials will still be valid on UE5. It would have been a shocking decision to stick with such a dated engine after KH3, which itself felt like a previous generation game modded with a hi-res texture pack.

Not only do you seem spammy, but also overly sensitive and angry about the way a first trailer for a video game looks. Not only will it improve, but even if the game looked exactly as it does now, it'd still be one of the better games out there visually right now.

Nobody is actually talking about this supposed "failing". Most people seem surprised, excited, or curious about the game. And a lot are actually praising it for looking as good as it does, considering it's an early trailer.

As if graphics were the be all end all anyway. Elden Ring being a top contender for Game of the Year proves that gameplay is king. There are plenty of games that look way better visually than Elden Ring.

Ok. So you’re saying that based on what we know, we can infer that death in KG leads to Quadratum as an afterlife? I watched the ending of UX again and I didn’t read any mention of linking the KG to Quadratum.

Yes, it is an educated guess, the simplest solution I can think of that explains all the facts we know. I will believe it until proven wrong or someone comes up with a better (simpler) one.
