Like what, out of curiosity?
The Objectives list. 0.2 made me think that KH3 would have something just like that, which meant that there'd be skill challenges and little moments within the worlds for rewards (defeat an enemy using spellweaver, find three flowers that represent the three fairies, watch for a meteor shower.)

The level design too. I found 0.2 had more interactive elements and puzzles in its world than 3 (e.g. all of the puzzle elements with Snow White's world, the verticality of the Castle Town).

3 had wider level designs and it was pretty simple to get from point A to point B. Like the toy store immediately gave you access to being able to get to both floors, even if areas were gated off until story points were hit. It would have been cool to try and find your way up and give a bit of challenge there rather than just immediately having a gum ball machine with the pipes ready to take you wherever you wanted. Even parts of maps that had some puzzle elements, like the ice cave, was drilled down to just defeating a mob to unlock an ice pillar to spin around (the exploration was nice in there though)

The zodiacs were great too. Going back to find them which led to a challenging boss fight. Hidden Mickey's didn't feel anywhere close to that, and the last reward was pretty meh.

0.2 was unexpectedly very good and had way more depth to it than I would have anticipated. I spent several more hours on that game than I thought I would, and I have to agree with Chaser that I wish so much more of it would have carried over to KH3.

When it comes to KH3, I had very little expectations for it until I played 0.2, which I thought was fantastic. You guys have already spoken about the main stuff but also - the VA, the cutscene direction/cinematography was pretty good. The creative way they used Disney Worlds in the Realm of darkness was something we'd never seen before.

The writing!!! The dialogue and character writing was pretty excellent, in all honesty. Mickey losing his shirt was just funny to me but even aside that, it was SUCH a good teaser for - what it looked like - the direction for KH3 would be. I think Olympus lived up to it in every way, but after that it was... Well, yeah.

I thought playing as Aqua felt pretty terrible and that the fundamental gameplay was rough, but I loved the areas so much (besides the final realm of darkness area, ironically, which felt underdeveloped.)

0.2 was such a funny time in our lives, waiting for KH3. There was so much about it that was promising, and so much about it that made me think KH3 was in trouble.

I finished up Wonderland last night and that doubled back to the Olympus Coliseum! It's funny how much I remember. I mean I've played this game a million times, but taking my optimal route to beat Riku in a race is like muscle memory, or grabbing every available postcard before leaving Traverse Town, KH1 is like a comfort game at this point.

I remember getting the platinum trophies for KH1 and Chain of Memories on PS3. Difficulty trophies didn't stack, so it was 3 playthroughs on KH1 and essentially 6 on Chain of Memories if you count Sora and Roku separate. Sooooo happy that's not a thing anymore 😂 One playthrough for each character on Chain of Memories, please lol

It's funny you should mention the cutscene direction and cinematography, that aspect of Kingdom Hearts 3 always felt off to me and I haven't seen people discuss it at all. I don't mean to dunk on that show because I've never seen it and I'm aware there's a big online following, but the way characters move and the cameras are positioned I always felt like I was watching Miraculous Ladybug or another similar 3D animated TV series.

Yeah, I felt the scene direction was weird, sometimes bad. I always go back to meeting Hercules. In KH2, Sora and Hercules get closer, fist bump, the camera follows the action. It feels good and natural, like two friends meeting again. In 3, they just generally... stand there. It feels so awkward sometimes.

There's definitely something off about the way characters move. Maybe it's always been this way and the new graphics and engine just make it more apparent, but everything seems to be super sluggish on that end. There's long pauses between each action, none of them flow naturally into each other and there's no weight behind anything.

Going back to the camera for a bit, it's always slowly panning for no reason. Where it stands out the most to me is the scene where Hayner, Pence and Olette rescue Ansem.

I was playing through recom and it seems like they messed up the controls lol, card shortcuts are remapped. If you remap it, it causes it to shuffle through the pause UI menus with left and right or whatever.

It seems the ports are selling well and have a pretty good active player count, considering they're old games that were already available on PC and other platforms years prior.

I stand by my belief that a ton of people had no idea the Epic ports existed

I hear they're working on updates, hopefully the GPU stuff is resolved soon. Would be cool if they fixed bugs but square is square lol

Just about to head to Hollow Bastion for the second visit. Have all the Trinity marks done, and I'm only missing 3 puppies in Hollow Bastion. My 100% run of the first game on Steam is nearing an end 😁 I'll do a speedrun too once I finish to nab that achievement as well and have all of those done before moving on to Chain of Memories. What a blast this has been to revisit on a handheld.

So when do you think Melody of Memory is gonna come out on Steam? 3 years from now?

Has something surprised you in retrospect? Areas that you didn't like before that you do now, or things that ages more poorly than you thought?

If they could fix/add ANYTHING, I'd love the option to roll back to the previous textures from the initial release of the ReMix games. Even if they can't do that, at least revert a few egregious textures, like the poorly upscaled world map icons in KH1 or anything with written text, like Merlin's chalkboard.

The idea of them trying to 'fix' the visuals of these older games gives me psychic damage

Discussing nude mods of underaged characters
So I have been playing KH on Steam, and because I already completed 100% in all the KH games on the console before, I decided to play the games using trainers to get stuff like infinte EXP, etc. because I really don't want to do all that stupid, boring ass grinding that some games require to 100% again, fuck Re:Chain, BBS, and DDD in particular.

Using trainers, I was able to achieve 100% in Dream Drop Distance critical mode with all dream eaters at max rank, level, and affinity in about 30 hours. I remember doing that on console and taking more than 100 hours of la la la la, which was awful.

The trainer I use for DDD was developed for the Epic Games version, but it worked on the Steam version of the game too, but the 0.2 trainer does not work, so I had to complete 100% on 0.2 the honest way, which was not too bad because it is a short game. I was able to achieve 100% completion on 2.8 in 40 hours. So I would like to ask if someone knows if the mods developed for the Epic Games version of KH3 work in the Steam version of KH3, because I found some nude mods I will like to try.

I've never understood nude mods on any level lol. I'm not sure whats so titillating about naked characters when the in-game context remains entirely unchanged. Everyone's standing around talking about Xehanort and Heartless but one or two characters have their bits hanging out.

Its a very esoteric way of being freaky!

Some people just like something more exotic, I think, and as long as you're not harming anyone or doing anything wrong, I think it's ok. They're fictional characters, not real people.

You will be surprised by the FF7 community. lol
