What a weird ass trailer. I get that it wouldn't have worked because of the song, but no gameplay? No steam deck confirmation during the trailer? No showing off what exactly they've done to the graphics for 1.5+2.5 that was worth calling out?

That trailer made me feel genuinely embarrassed. This is how they're marketing the game to the Steam audience?? A bunch of shmaltzy dialogue? Leading with fucking Back Cover? No gameplay? No Disney?

Who was this for? I've been with this franchise for 22 years and I hated this.

When they started with Back Cover I was like “oh that’s a choice!” Then I realized it was a chronological trailer and I was like well okay that’s a choice too.

No gameplay is very weird. I’m like actually super baffled by the choice.

Also just my personal issues but man the focus on Sora’s dialogue about Kairi in the KH3 portion made me a bit ill

It was certainly a choice to have it be all cutscenes and dialogue snippets. I get the feeling they made it under the impression of “these games have been out for a while, they should know how they play by now, right?”

And while they aren't necessarily wrong, they have been on EPG for a few years by this point, I feel like some gameplay would've been nice. Unless they’ve got a launch trailer planned in June for gameplay, this was certainly an odd choice.

The re-recording for Simple and Clean was great though, and its already out on Spotify and iTunes for those who want to listen to it on its own

And it says that Days and Re:coded are in high definition.

Did they remaster the movies too? Because watching them today on a 4K screen I don't think it's the best experience.

Can someone tell if the screenshots in the Steam page are with the remastered textures?

The "HD cutscene compilation" part of the description? I think they've always had that next to their titles since 2013.

The trailer was definitely aimed at pre-existing fans of the franchise which is … stupid? It‘s a mess

This left me rather confused. Who was this trailer for? There was nothing to hook new players at all. Minimal presence of Disney characters and -worlds, lack of Final Fantasy and absolutely no gameplay. Plus every ending spoiled! Was this montage aimed for pre-existing fans? Why? We have already played the games, many times. I don't deny some people are going to buy all the games again just to support the franchise, but many can't justify getting them on every possible platform. Wouldn't it be better to actually try and attract new fans? This doesn't make any sense...

I mean, this is also a company who is making a mobile GPS-based game that is heavy on lore and story despite likely wanting to position it for newcomers and old fans alike without any of the nostalgia trappings or simplicity that would help to garner either side’s interest. Like, Missing-Link will work for a very niche group of KH fans who are invested in deep lore but also are fine with playing mobile games, which isn’t exactly what a game of that cost and scale should be doing lol

That is to say, this stuff is being made to rile up the old hats of the fandom to incite interest in the newcomers.

For a newcomer, despite the fact all of the trailer is just spoilers, in theory they aren’t aware of what is and isn’t a spoiler. They are just supposed to see fans going wild and go “oh this seems like it is important! Guess I need to play to understand!”

Of course this isn’t how it works. But I will say it has worked in getting the KH audience hyped. Many people on social media loved this trailer, and I think it is just due to the sheer lack of any other KH news.

The biggest faux pas is the lack of gameplay, though. This really needed to be trailer that was followed up with a presentation or showcase of gameplay OR as a launch trailer.
