You were expecting 20-25 hours for a long time before (even saying you expect KH3 to be the shortest game in the series); I figured 40 hours was more in your ballpark of a good length for a game.40 hours is quite short. It's expected though, considering the tiny amount of worlds.
Agreed. I don't really care in the sense that we're not entitled to any information and whatever we get from them is something, but it's a little ridiculous to see them acting all sanctimonious about it. They're playing the game illicitly a month before it releases and bragging about it online. I think we can all agree that it's fine if they don't want to post major story spoilers-- personally, I'd love to see everything, but I can understand that in the collective interest of the fandom there's a benefit to holding back on the big stuff. But FF cameos and a world list? This is the kind of stuff SE should have done a better job addressing during promotion for the game. That's where these leakers could really contribute to the community. His brother said they won't say if there's FF characters because it's a spoiler. What a bunch of BS.
I liked the full opening movie. Change my mind.
Spoiler Show
Well, I think it's a great opening if you're a fan of SoKai and enjoy the idea of every character who isn't Sora getting cheated of a meaningful part to play. Otherwise, it does nothing other OPs haven't done better for previous games. Its transitions are also not great: it has too many competing motifs between the chessboard, the trios, and the SoraxKairi elements such that none are really effective in communicating an emotional story. The chessboard represents a conflict which is premised as being centered around the trios at the start of the OP, but then Sora is the only protagonist ever depicted as an actor in the events that follow, with Kairi appearing intermittently for reasons that aren't really clear in context with the rest of the material. Although it's my favorite part, there's no reason the other trio characters are shown facing the light, because they don't take part in anything that happens after that. The last shot of Sora's chess piece indicates that it's the last one standing, even though it was shown just moments before with Kairi's, which undermines the romantic throughline. And then it's all implied to retroactively represent some sort of "connection" between Young Xehanort and Sora that leaves us with nothing to make sense of the story as it played out over the course of the OP. And the group shot ultimately feels tagged on, like a second thought, when that should have been the centerpiece of the whole montage. It doesn't build, or crescendo, it just flags along through a continual regression of the ensemble iconography of the series. Sora meeting Kairi alone on DI after defeating Xemnas alone in the obligatory fight sequence should honestly make any fan of the series cringe.
Here's one way to fix it:
Make some actual use of the "3D chess" trope. Integrate the homeworld settings and place every character with their respective trio intentionally on the board, and utilize that space imaginatively. YX's moves reflect the direct progression of his antagonism throughout the series with the full range of villains: Xigbar, Larxene, whoever's relevant to KH3. Depict the struggles on the part of the protagonists as interlinked and give them the full weight they deserve. Sora falling through the board and Kairi's connection with him as his light was good, but follow that up with him re-entering the board alongside Riku and moving through a symbolic rendition of their arc in DDD. Sora's "blast of light" should have returned all of the heroes to the board, and the final shot of it (from YX's perspective) would have been all of the "light" pieces surrounded by his Darknesses. The camera pans up to reveal Namine, sitting across from him with her sketchbook in hand. She's been taking notes, and she prepares to make her move. The very last image is of the drawing she made of everyone, which transitions into the last group shot in the actual OP before the logo comes in. Ta-dah.
That's KH2's DB, bud. The person who made that video just randomly thought it was KH1's for some reason.but then what the hell was this from? I'm hella confused.![]()
I don’t think anything is in his ballpark. All he does is complain. It’s getting oldYou were expecting 20-25 hours for a long time before (even saying you expect KH3 to be the shortest game in the series); I figured 40 hours was more in your ballpark of a good length for a game.
I want to like it, but it's not what I was expecting. I'll need to sit with a decent quality version of it before I can figure out how it makes me feel. I definitely don't think it's a bad track, but it doesn't register as "Dearly Beloved (KH3 Version)" to me just yet. That Dearly Beloved was weaksauce. It was just like three notes going back and forth on a keyboard.
I know and I agree, his bullshit has been going on for close to a year now. But if people really find his troll-like complaining to be annoying, you can submit official complaints.I don’t think anything is in his ballpark. All he does is complain. It’s getting old
Same; it's borderline a background track, not the finale of an amazing track we all know and love.I want to like it, but it's not what I was expecting. That means that there are FF characters in it. If there wasn't he would've just plain out would've said no.
Or he's just messing with the fans. People with this kind of "power" over others love to do this kind of thing. Makes them feel like a king to know information and withhold it from others for personal enjoyment. That means that there are FF characters in it. If there wasn't he would've just plain out would've said no.
Thats definitely not the case. They’re not confirming or denying lots of things.
The orchestral backing is amazing but the lead piano is boring. Like alexis said, I'll have to wait for a full HQ version cause I hadn't even noticed those crazy piano cues in the background.Nah sorry, the KH3 Dearly Beloved remix ABSOLUTELY feels like a finale track and the perfect rendition of the song. Those additional secondary piano cues following the classic melody are absolutely incredible!
Tbh, I can't even hear the classic/original melody with the leaked recording. If it's there and I'm just not picking up on it, that will assuage a lot of my concerns. The orchestral backing is lovely but I just can't get into it without that iconic twinkle to lead the charge, ha.Nah sorry, the KH3 Dearly Beloved remix ABSOLUTELY feels like a finale track and the perfect rendition of the song.
