Kingdom Hearts III Pre-Release Spoiler Discussion Thread

I know and understand his role in the Replica Program, I'm only speaking of Vexen's design, voice, and personality, as well as that awful laugh, but I do get that he's needed for his brilliant mind.

Well yeah I don't think there are very many people who would say they particularly like Vexen, but again I'm just looking at who should be in the new Organization XIII based on story (which is the most important thing for any form of media, entertainment, or storytelling.) and also based on what makes sense and based on Xemnas' statement in KH3D on who would qualify from the original Organization to be a part of the True Organization XIII.

In my opinion the roster for the Seekers of Darkness that makes the most sense would look like this:

1. Master Xehanort
2. Xemnas
3. Ansem Seeker of Darkness
4. Xigbar
5. Saix
6. Vexen
7. Xaldin
8. Luxord
9. Vanitas
10. Terranort
11. Riku-Replica (Brought back by Vexen)
12. Young Xehanort
13. Xion (Brought back by Vexen)

This list fulfills what Xemnas says in KH3D. First he said MOST of the original Organization XIII were unqualified to become vessels. In this list we have 6 of the original members of Organization XIII included, with the other 7 being excluded. (I'm not counting Xion in this equation since Saix flat out says in 358/2 Days she was never a true member of the group) Meaning, like Xemnas says, MOST of the original group is not included in the new group. Second there are no traitors like Marluxia and Larxene, which Xemnas clearly says was a disqualifier for the new group. (Yes I know Xion was a traitor, but if Vexen brings her back they will likely have her Norted right from the beginning this time around).

That being said I do think Marluxia and Larxene are going to end up turning on Xehanort at some point in KH3, and they will be replaced by Riku-Replica/Data-Riku and Xion.

I don't know if this is known or discussed yet, but in one of the Olympus leaks, the river that flows down the mountain seems almost dried up. Is there a reason? Was it changed after so many trailers from a rapid river to now almost dried /muddy river?

I haven't seen the video myself, but it's possible that a collapsed building or something is blocking the water flow or something.

I noticed that too. Kind of a shame since the river water effects really stood out to me in that trailer. It might be story related since the Olympus world in general is in the process of rebuilding itself, so the dried river might be a side-effect of the Titans' attack on Mount Olympus. Or, more likely, perhaps they just changed it for graphical reasons. It doesn't bother me however, because Olympus looks absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. The leaker did not give the world design enough credit; this is how Kingdom Hearts was always envisioned, a Disney world brought to life with callbacks to the films in the environment left, right, and center. Yes, some areas are still vacant, but compared to previous titles, this is such a huge upgrade. Personally, my expectations have been blown out of the water. I'm also glad we get to see a restored Radiant Garden in cutscenes, which look just as gorgeous. That is all the closure I need for that world.

I don't mind thee world design itself, I love it too, I just hope that the look of the river is post world/game and not the whole time you are there from the beginning.

New clip is up of Vanitas. It explains how he came back and his alliance with Randall. Sora also finally finds out about Ven and his connection to him. There's also a funny moment of Sora making fun of Kingdom Hearts' own cliches (bad guy show up, says something ominous, and then disappears). And we also finally find out how Aqua was corrupted. She was protecting Ansem from Xehanort's heartless.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like a staple character. If it's from the initial experiments that were conducted years before the first game, then it doesn't seem like Namine or Xion, which Ansem would have knowledge about. Sounds like we are going to finally gain some additional insight into these experiments. From Ansem's opinion of them being "hideous", they sound pretty inhumane and may have involved children. Xehanort is such a messed up guy; even when he ruins a life, he still tries to find past victims of his ambitions to cause additional harm. Also, I love we are finally getting some interaction between Xehanort's heartless and Ansem. Xehanort is such a troll to him and I love it lol.

Finally, the spoilers are coming

Aaaand right away we have confirmation that Aqua gets gimped as a plot device. She didn't lose faith, she didn't turn to the darkness after wandering through the shadows endlessly. She's at the top of her game exactly as we should have expected she would be. There's no Terra revelation, she's not told anything about the outside world or forced to give up hope, she's not evem recruited as a Seeker. It's a cheap Darkness blast that does it and that's all it takes. No arc, no payoff. Just padding the story out so she can stay trapped in the darkness and get rescued eventually instead of being positioned as a real protagonist. She doesn't even go down fighting for AtW, SoD fucks her over as an afterthought lol. Brilliant.

So I guess the novels are going to have contributions to the games now? Now we have a confirmation what Vanitas wants in KH3, which is presented and implied in the BBS novels

I totally called Aqua being corrupted by Ansem, Seeker of Darkness. It would be too out of character for her to fall to darkness willingly after 0.2. It had to have been by force and I was right.
