I just picked up an PS2 copy of Kingdom Hearts (the Platinum version) from CeX but when I try to play it something weird happens. The PS2 displays the entire 4:3 frame squashed into a 14:9 screen area so that the whole game plays through slightly stretched and it is obviously very difficult to get it to fit properly onto a modern 16:9 TV.
Kingdom Hearts II does not do this on the PS2 it plays in the correct 4:3 aspect ratio. Has anybody else seen this happen or know what causes it, or why Square never made any of the games playable in 16:9 until 1.5 on the PS3.
