King Mickey discussion

Hello, before deciding to post please abide by the following rules:

As some of you might know, in certain important Boss Battles, mainly against Organisation XIII members, when you die you have the option to keep on going or stop trying.
If you select the option to continue (on this interface the background will be white, not the heart icon with sora floating and darkness), you get the option to play as King Mickey.
You need to have passed a certain stage in-game to do this. He is in the ninja robes.
"I'll help you Sora!" is what he says.
When you die for the first time in an important fight he appears for sure.
Second time it's 80%
Third time is around 65%
and fourth and all following is a 50% chance.

(Triangle Reaction Command) D-Charge
King Mickey gathers energy to heal Sora, if Mickey gets knocked out, Sora will have magically healed to 50% HP and protects Mickey as Mickey leaves them.
If Mickey is fully able to heal Sora using the D-charge you are, yup, you guessed it, at full hp.

(X Attack Command)
His attacks are aerial oriented mainly, you can knock him in the air.

(Square Special Command)
Magic sphere thingies come out of Mickey's keyblade and explode on the enemy.

(O Jump Command)
He jumps quite high and a LONG distance while using the analog stick to move forward in air, at least longer than Sora, but then again that's not saying much.

Levelling.
Mickey like any other combat-oriented character can be levelled.
All the way upto level 99.
Training him is hard, VERY few people do it to level 99.
I presume his abilities are auto-equipped as he has infinite AP.

Like Sora and all your party members, Mickey gains experience and levels up as
well. Mickey gains the same amount of experience as you do in the same way that
party members of worlds that you currently aren't in do: The experience you
earn is given to him as well but the game doesn't inform you of when he levels
up. A table of Mickey's stats:

Although Mickey's HP stays at it's relatively low amount throughout the course
of the game, his Defense will get high enough to make up for it (a level 66
Mickey has higher Defense than a level 99 Sora) so he won't be taking as much
damage as Sora does and hopefully will survive longer.

Note: In they "Type" column, this determines the element of the attack. There
are six total:
W=Weapon, F=Fire, B=Blizzard, T=Thunder, D=Dark, O=Other
This is used to determine what attacks will be stronger or weaker, depending on
the enemy's stats. For example, Sephiroth has a x0 modifier for F, B, T, and D
elements, making all Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, and Dark attacks useless, whereas
Yuffie has a x1.5 modifier for W, so all Weapon attacks will deal 150% of their
normal damage on her. By knowing an enemy's stats and the elements of your
attacks, you can strategize on the best way to deal damage.
Mickey doesn't have many abilities, but here's a complete list of them.

Due to the fact that Mickey has an Air Combo Plus equipped, it would be best to
try and remain in the air for the majority of the time you're playing as him,
to increase the amount of damage dealt. With Scan, you can see your opponent's
health to know when the best time to change back to Sora would be.

King Mickey CAN be used to play the actual game, there is no Secret mode or anything but by using a certain "cheating device" you can play with King Mickey. The cutscenes and storyline etc. remain the same, however you can play as King Mickey in all combat forms, there's a video of King Mickey getting Sephiroth to 1hp, same with Axel when you're supposed to play as Roxas.

FAQ based on PMS
Can I play as King Mickey?
In combat situations using a hacking device.
Can King Mickey finish Xemnas at the end, while using the bug?
Unfortunatly not, you would think that giving all party members infinite HP and having extended aeriel capabilities he could beat Xemnas but no, cause he doesn't got a finishing blow. And editing Sora's abilities won't help.
Can you post the AP and MP formulas?
Maybe if I can work it out again, unfortunatly unlike the SH it is harder to calculate, I think I PMed it to someone, if so could that somebody PLEASE send it back to me so I can post it here, I WILL give you credit.
Does Mickey appear more in Proud mode?
According to Roxas XII, Yup.

Thanks to killbrain1 for providing a CONFIRMED list of what monsters King Mickey can appear to help you with and helping me with the links and few bits of info for the thread.
King Mickey when not fighting alongside you wears black robes, when you do not have control of him and the storyline says that Mickey is going to help you, then he wears his royal combat outfit.
His Keyblade is like Sora's except the handle is gold and the seldom of the blade is silver.


The purpose of this thread is to discuss thoughts about King Mickey, I hope to answer a few of these questions at least, please think about them in your post:
Did you know about King Mickey?
If the storyline can allow it, would you want King Mickey in again, and in which game: KH2 FM or KH3 or both ?
If so, what extra features would you like, attacks, improved interface, magic spells, agility, special attacks? etc.

There's an issue that keeps bugging me:

I have the strategy guide, it sais that Mickey also appears when Xemnas is on his throne the first time. I went on and tried it, but he didn't appear, even though it's 100% certain the first time. Then it appeared it depends on how many times you used "continue". Honestly, it's such a pain having to wait ten seconds for your game to load and then having to walk all the way up to the treasure heap while you can simply restart in the moonlit nook with all the items and so forth. That sucks big flappy donkey balls.

I wanna hear about how people want to play as other characters as well, yes.
And Mickey can level. I can't be bothered to type an XP table and gaining ability formula, as most people would not understand.
As for the Xemnas thing:
That's odd, the first time I got Mickey was on the first Xaldin fight, at Beast's castle.
The FIRST time I played the game.
I died to Demyx second battle before the 1k Heartless attack, he was the second org member I died to.

Saïx: He can charge up to three drive guages, and can eventually transform into "Berserk" status.

Normal status:

X: attack. Different attack combo if enemy is further away, much like slide dash.

square: gaurd (he didn't do that in the actual game, though).

O: damage drive. Saïx takes a pose (holding his arms up) and converts damage to the drive guage.

triangle: triggers berserk mode, if useable.

Berserk status:

X: the normal attack combo, includes the battle cry "begone!"

square: close in. Saïx rushes at the opponent with his circles of fire.

O: berserk strike. Saïx hurls his weapon and throws it down from the air, heralded by "move aside", or "suck my cock" in Japanese.

triangle: auto-mangle. Consumes the rest of the form guages, Saïx does that...thing after he shouts "all shall be lost to you".

King Mickey only appears at the listed boss battles, some of those are before that event. And yes, it's the official guide. Now, where did you hear about Mickey leveling? If you ask me, it's "shitpies in packages", as they say in Belgium.

Too bad there's no finisher. It's possible to hack the game and play as mickey. You can find examples at kh-vids.net, but you can never win, because Mickey has no finishing strike and Pearl is disabled due to the command menu.

But without having a finishing attack it is impossible to defeat an enemy so he wouldn't get past Seifer

Cutscenes are normal. But, if Mickey tries to use magic or anything else that he can't, he sort of...freezes awkwardly until hit. This is very annoying in the battle against Sephy.

They've also shown a battle against Axel, with Mickey still in the cloak. Appearantly, it's still responsive to the scene where Mick takes off his cloak.
