The Devil’s So Much Stronger than the Man
He knew he was dreaming. Leaves swirled across the ground, tangles of burnt orange and blood red pulled across the earth by a soft, chilly night wind even as they crunched beneath his heels. The path he was on was quiet; tall trees on either side of the earthen road stretched long, bare branches into the air, beseeching fingers searching for their lost leaves to cloth themselves in once more. The moon hung high in a cloudless sky, its full, cold, reflected light so much more powerful than the frosty glimmer of the stars around it. Though an austere beauty, it gave the dream away for what it was.
It was a new moon in the waking world.
Years of searching for even the smallest detail out of place had him on edge, his guard slamming up as his eyes took in his surroundings with an even keener attention than they had just a moment before. Even so, he was still barely able to raise a block against the figure that rose from the shadows to attack him. He staggered slightly, but held his ground, the soft glimmer of steel reflecting off of steel between the two night-clad forms.
A smile slashed across his assailant’s mouth, its teeth bone white against the shadows that cloaked its face. Laughing after a moment, the shadow mocked injury as it said, “Is this really the way you great me? No ‘Hello, how are you doing?’ Just a rapid drawing of the blade?”
He didn’t say anything, refusing to give the wraith the return it desired. Instead, he shoved forward, driving the shadow and its blade further away from him. As the being staggered backward, his fingers reached into the pouch at his side, curling around the throwing knives he had tucked away in the soft leather interior. He whipped his arm out, the blades sailing through the night with deadly accuracy to embed themselves deep in the gnarled bark of the tree the shade had been standing in front of.
The shade was gone.
“’I am your worst; I am your worst nightmare.’ Did you really think I’d die that easy?”
He flipped out of the way just in time to avoid the creature’s retaliatory swipe. It came at him, black wings unfurled behind its body like it was the Reaper come to collect his soul. The shade kept moving, wings a blur of shadows around it as the cold, silver length of steel gleamed in the figure’s grip as the blade darted out again and again, meeting his own as the combatants searched for a weakness to exploit in their opponent’s defenses. All the while, the shade had that smile sliding around its face, equal parts grim and psychotic glee.
His hand dropped to his side again, searching out a more deadly alternative to his blades. The dream obeyed his wishes, and he felt the butt of a pistol form in his grip. Whipping it out, he sighted down the barrel, only to find that the shade had ghosted out of tangible form again.
“Well, if that’s not a ghastly maneuver to try to pull on someone,” the demon tutted. “This late autumn lane doesn’t seem to fit the mood anymore, now does it? How about a change of scenery to fit your grim advances?”
The dream shifted, and he had just the barest moment to realize that he was now standing in the midst of a graveyard before the shade barreled into him, its fingers spread into a tight, clawed grip across the side of his face. He knew this figure and its strength; even so, he was too stunned by the raw power in the strike to fend it off, instead riding it out as the shade slammed him face first into the side of a crypt.
He came up swinging. Arching his back, he bucked the shade off, clambering to his feet as soon as he felt the night’s chill on his back once again. He rolled behind the crypt a moment before the dull thud of a crossbow bolt striking against stone broke the deathly silence. A crossbow of his own forming against his arm, he twisted around the corner of the crypt, intent to bury the bolt deep in the wraith’s flesh burning through his blood like poison.
What he hadn’t expected, was for the demon to be right in his face.
That monstrous grip viced around his throat again, lifting the young man’s tall form high above the ground until his toes barely brushed the graveyard dirt. Snarling through his teeth, he spat, “Go to hell!”
“Ooh, you do have a voice after all. I was starting to wonder if the night had taken it from you,” the shade cackled. It pivoted on its heel, slamming him into a stone slab with enough force to crack the granite into the shape of a cross. Pressure clawed at his wrists as stone manacles formed around them, exerting so much pressure he was amazed the bones didn’t give out beneath it. All the while, the devil watched him, a harlequin’s smile always dancing about its lips and teeth.
Only when he was so trapped he didn’t have a prayer of escaping did the demon finally step back, admiring its handiwork as he stood chained to his cross. He tried to keep his eyes averted, but a morbid need to see his captor kept drawing his eyes back again and again to the demon’s form.
Tall and lithe, the wraith’s appearance was a familiar sight to him, one he well recognized. And why shouldn’t it be? It was his appearance. His dark hair hung in the demon’s eyes; it was his shoulders that shook with suppressed laughter, his lips pulled back to reveal a demented grin with his teeth. Only the eyes were different. The demon’s eyes were cold, black, and bottomless, promising nothing but death to its unfortunate victim.
Him.
“’Wearing our vintage misery…’ you got such awesome music, you know that, right? Way better than the rest of your family ever had. But you do gotta admit, I wear your body best between you and me, don’t you think?” the wraith chuckled as it noticed his perusal. Crossing its arms, the shade rested a finger against its chin as it said, “What do you think? Think she’d like it?”
Momentary docility turned to savage fury as he bucked against his chains, his teeth clenched as a snarl bubbled up from his throat. The demon’s black eyes widened as it laughed, “Here’s the spirit that I like so much about you boys! I thought I’d finally crushed it; most all of your brothers had given up hope by your age. But not you; not you. Why’s that, Dead Man? Why is it that, just when I think I finally got you licked, that hope shows it’s not as dead as I thought? Is it because of her? Tell me, can I play with her for a little bit? She’s such a yummy piece of eye candy, isn’t she? I could just devour that sweet morsel, even more than all the others.”
“Don’t you dare lay a finger on her, bastardo de merde!” he snarled at his jailer, eyes smoldering with golden fire as he writhed against his chains. A crack rent the still night, a shallow fissure opening in the cold stone cross.
All mirth dropped from the demon’s eyes, their black depths turning as frozen as the golden pools were hot. The laughter was gone from its face, its features deadly still and eerie without that perverse mirth it always displayed. Slamming its palm into his shoulder, it dug its fingers into his arm, gouging bloody furrows into his flesh as the wraith hissed, “I have already laid more than just a finger on her, you fool. I’ve had my hands all over her body, given her kisses that have left her limp and ready beneath my touch. I see her smiles, and know her love and her desire, her tenderness and compassion, her passions and fire, every time she looks at you. At us. You stupid, stupid little boy; I am you. Every moment you spend with her, every touch you share, is my moment with her, my caress on her arm. You can’t stop me from taking her from you, in time, just as none other in your family could. We are two sides of the same coin, but in the end, only I will remain.”
It was his worst fears forced into the light, the fears that he never allowed anyone else to see; he barely allowed himself to see them. Even so, he held tight to a grim determination as he hissed, “I won’t let you. I’ll be the one that’s left, and you can rot in hell.”
“I’d like to see you try,” the demon hissed. Leaning in closer, it whispered in the young man’s ear, “Happy Halloween. And happy twentieth birthday, Tristan di’Angelo.
“Tick tock.”

An eerie fog rolled through town. It's sheer density encased the window in a thick smoke.
"Yeah Jason, sorry I can't make the party. I guess I just don't have the Halloween Spirit this year." He sipped from his bowl as arrogant as ever, phone on his desk.
"Really Jack? You must have speakerphone on, I can literally hear you typing, in this weather, alone! You're subjecting yourself to the scares for kicks. Admit it bro, you just don't want to get social. Remember that hot bartender Sally? She's asking about you man! She brought a friend for me too! In costume! Really gonna leave me hanging?" The writer's facade was dropped, nothing like a drunk best friend to look past his mask.
"Yeah, yeah, nothing I can do for you pal. I'll trade in a fling for my career anytime. I put my blood and sweat into this book for the past 2 years, I won't give it up when I can accompany myself just as easily."

"Thank God." The call had ended, now for our creative hero's work to come to light!
CHAPTER I.....Nothing? Oh well. He reached for his bowl once more when his soup spilled all over the laptop.
"Damn! Damn! No! All of my hard work!"
..............
He let out a cackle. The world allowed him to procrastinate for once. He reached for the purple flyer on the floor:

"Hm. Alright J. You win, just don't drink all the good stuff." Jack sent out a text to his friend and hastily put his coat on as he left his study, zipper catching in the door as it closed. He fell down the flight of stairs into the lower floor hallway and blacked out.
"Shit" He woke up on the floor, wiping the blood from his face. Or tried to, anyway. It kept spilling out as he became lightheaded, Jack was making his way to the bathroom, tripped on a broom and dropped again; the man's skin began to crawl. He pulled himself up to the vanity and looked into the mirror.
Everything was fine. just a bloody nose. So he used a napkin to-
*RIP* Now the face is gone. Just a skeleton looking at him through his reflection. Jack backed away, slipping on the gore that used to be on his head and lost his composure yet again. He wakes up standing in his study, relieved WAIT
Why is he standing? Jack peers over and sees himself staring at his computer. The writer grabs for the bowl of soup so our hero springs into action- he actually slips again after seeing he now has claws and spills the whole thing on the keyboard. The Hell, Jack? Determined to save his double, the ghastly shadow of his former self grabbed the paper on the floor, bringing it to the seated writer's attention.
"Stop it! Don't leave this room!" He couldn't hear himself. As Jack walked through the door, the monster grabbed his jacket, causing him to lose balance and fall. Horrified, it crept out and looked down the stairs to see his corpse, bone, blood and gore lying all over the hallway. As it turned around, it felt the icy gaze of Death. The Grim Reaper leaned in close and uttered
"Trick or Treat."

Some months after Ziras death, everyone in the pride lands was living in peace and harmony again. Except for the animals that were eaten by the lions, but they got used to it.
The last mornings were all the same. Simba was sleepy getting up, Nala wanted him to stay by her side, he got up anyway and got annoyed by Kiara before he told her to go hunt and leave him alone. But this morning was totally different, when Simba was still sleeping. "Daddy, daddy, daddy! Wake up!" Kiara ran into his cave and was shaking his whole body. "Oh my lion king, Kiara. You're not a child anymore, what are you doing?" "We have to hurry! Today's october the thirtieth and tomorrow is the day!" Kiara said and jumped through the cave. "The thirtieth....how do you even know that?" "Kovu told me!" "How does he...whatever, I should just exile him and continue sleeping." "Now get up, dad!" She said while running out to the pride rock. This day Simba got annoyed before he even got up. When he came out Kiara stood on the pride rocks tip next to Kovu. "I'm half awake Kiara, now tell me what is going on." Kovu went some steps towards Simba and said: "It's october the thirtieth and tomorrow is.." "Excuse me Kovu, last time I checked you weren't my daughter. You're on a good way, but don't answer her questions." Simba said and looked to Kiara. "Halloween dad, we never celebrated it. Tomorrow is the big day and I want a huge party for the other lions!" "Halloween? Who told you about that?" "Jack when he visited us last year!" "Wait, the skeleton? Jack Skellington was here? Why? And how do I not know that?" "He wanted to bring Halloween to the pride lands and scare us. First I was scared, but then I realized he is a really nice guy. Jack told me everything about Halloween! Witches on brooms, werewolfs and vampires, it was amazing!" "But where was I?" "You were in the cave with mom. You were loud." Kovu started laughing to himself and looked away. "Kovu, one more time and you end up like the last scarred lion on this rock." Simba said to him and roared. "Please dad, this will be fun! Don't you wanna get shocked, too?" "I saw my dad dying and threw my uncle into a fire, I think I'm shocked enough." Nala slowly came out of the cave and walked next to Simba. "Good morning you two, what are you doing here at this time?" "I want a Halloween party, but dad says no for no reason!" Nala turned her head to Simba and looked him in the eye. "Siiimba." "No." "Siiiimba." "No." " Siiiimba." "What syllable don't you get?" "Simba." "Fine! Have your Halloween party, but you organize everything by yourself and take full responsibility for everything that happens!" She nodded and ran away with Kovu. "Thanks Simba." Nala said and put her head on his shoulder. "I just don't have a good feeling about this." "Simba?" "Hm?" "I want another baby." Simba smiled and looked at her. "Kiara said it's tomorrow, please don't try to scare me now I've got no nerves for that."
Meanwhile Kiara was running together with Kovu in Rafikis direction. "So, what's your plan Kiara?" "Jack told me we need a really spooky atmosphere. Oh and everyone's wearing a costume, for example a terryfing mask. I know that Rafiki has one!" "We're running this whole way just for a single mask?" "No, I need Rafiki to summon some ghosts!" She said, smiled at Kovu and ran even faster. Some time later they both arrive at Rafikis tree and were looking for him. "Rafiki? Are you home? It's Kiara!" she screamed and was looking around. "Uh uh ah ah" "What was that?" Kovu asked and looked around. Suddenly Rafiki showed up and jumped in front of them. "Uh uh ah ah." "Oh no, Kovu! Something happened to Rafiki!" "Uh ah ah ah." "You're right, he can't speak our language anymore!" Uh....ah...ah.." "What happened?! We will help you!" Rafiki sighed and looked angry at Kiara. "Why can't I just be like a normal ape? Am I that bad at it?" "What?" "I just tried to be a normal ape for once and you act like I'm completly insane. Thanks, great motivation for me to keep trying." "I..I didn't know that.." "Whatever, what are you here for?" Kiara was confused and looked cowed at him. "I'm planing a Halloween party for the pride rock and wanted to ask you if you could do a ritual to summon some ghosts or spirits. We need them for a creepy atmosphere, maybe some torches, too! A big fire, oh and some pumpkins that we can use to make jack-o-lanterns!" Kovu raised an eyebrow and said: "Jack-o-lanterns?" Kiara nodded wild and was smiling that even the night got bright. "We use our claws to cut grim faces in the pumpkins!" She said and looked for the stuff she asked for. "Yes, I can summon some ghosts or spirits, bring you pumpkins, make a huge fire, whatelse do you wish for my princess?" "Hm, since you asked so nicely..." "I was scarcastic." "Oh." "But I can help you with the summons and the torches. Where and when?" "Hmm..." Kiara knew when, but now she got a new idea where they could celebrate. "Did he just said 'scarcastic'?" Kovu asked and looked confused to Rafiki and Kiara. "What about a really scary place...like a graveyard! Yes, the elephant graveyard in the outland!" "Okay that's just stupid. I'll do it on the pride rock and nowhere else." "Then why did you ask in the first place..?" "Go now! I'll meet you tomorrow on the pride rocks, see ya." Kiara thanked Rafiki and went with Kovu back to their home. "We don't talk about that 'scarcastic' thing, don't we?" Kovu asked, but got ignored like always.
Meanwhile, Nala was laying on Simba in his cave. "Please Simba." "No." "Please." "No." "Please." "No." "Baby." "Are you talking to me or do you ask for one?" "Answer first." Simba rolled himself away that Nala fall down. "Nala I'm sorry, but I just don't want another baby." "But why?" "Remember our beautiful daughter? Now we have Kovu. And he's already like the son that I never wanted." "Hey Mr. S! We're back." Kovu shouted into the cave while walking in. Simba turned his head teeth gnashing to Kovu and tried to smile. "Oh, Kovu. Great that you're back." "I've got Kiara with me." "That's the least thing you need to be tolerated here." Kovu lowered his head and Kiara walked to Simba. "We organized everything!" "Well done." "We just need some flesh for the other lions." "Do you know what 'everything' means, Kiara?" "That's no big deal! I'll get some!" She said and ran out of the cave. There was an awkward silence between Kovu and Simba. "So...your daughter is really cute." "Go paw yourself, Kovu." Simba said and made Kovu go out of his cave.
In the evening Simba went outside to talk to his father. He looked up in the sky and was waiting or Mufasa to respond. "Father, please. I really need to talk." The clouds started moving and coming together until Mufasa appeared in the sky. "Boo!" Mufasa said and laughed. "Oh great, looks like you already know my situation." Mufasa smiled at Simba and said: "Yes, but I don't know what the problem is." "The problem is that whole party. I know that something terrible will happen." "But what is the worst thing that could happen?" "Oh I don't know, tell me one good thing that happened to me since I lost you." "You nailed Nala." Simba looked away and told him:" Actually, she nailed me." "Wait, she...hahaha you bitch!" "Thanks for the help dad..." "My son the lion king is the one who gets nailed by the females, haha. YOUUU are the chosen one, hahaha." "Next time I'll ask Scar..." "Hahaha I bet he will love that story" Simba heared Mufasa laughing the whole night, not even Nala right next to him who was asking for an other baby was loud enough to top him.
The next day was finally Halloween and Kiara worked the whole day to make everything ready for the big event in the evening. Simba just lay in his cave saying "no" to Nala and Kovu tried to help Kiara, but was always in her way. Some hours later the sun went down and everyone was waiting for Rafiki. "Dad! Dad, it's Halloween! Come out!" Kiara shouted and saw Simba coming with Nala out of the cave. "No." "Please." "No." "Please." "No" "What is that conversation about?" Kovu asked. Simba looked at him, then to Nala. Then he looked back to Kovu and again to Nala. "If you want one, do it with him." "Ew Simba, that's disgusting!" Kovu lowered his head again and went to Kiara. "So this is Halloween?" "We have to wait for Rafiki! He has everything we need to make the perfect party!" "Okay, ehm where is the meat? I'm hungry." "Sorry I'm oom." "You're what?" "Out of meat." He looked at her and couldn't realize what she just said. "So everyone here is eating flesh, except the King. Even Na..Nala where did you get that?" "Kovu gave me his piece." Nala said juicy. "Kovu I swear, one more mistake and..." Suddenly a loud scream came from above. "Did somebody say 'This is Halloween'?!" Two shadows, a really big and a small one, landed on the pride rock. Simba turned himself to them and walked towards them. "Yes...that was me...5 minutes ago. How are you Jack?" It turned out that the big Shadow was Jack Skellington who told Kiara everything about Halloween. "Oh I'm great! I mean it's Halloween, how am I supposed to feel bad? How are you?" "Well, I'm still alive." "That's the spirit!" Kiara ran to them and looked at her father. "Dad, you know Jack?" "Yes, yes. Sora summoned me sometimes in Halloween Town. How is Sally? Oogie Boogie still dead?" "Sally is great and Oogie is dead now, but he came back one time." "Villains. They always come back." Simba smiled before he saw the second shadow behind Jack. "Hey, who's that little guy behind you?" "Oh, that's my little apprentice. He wants to become a master of horror, too! Go introduce yourself." The little and small guy was really shy and came really slowly towards Simba. "My..my name is Jason...t-the Chainsaw." "The Chainsaw?" Jack laughed and pat Jasons head. "That's his title to sound more scary." "Oh, I see. You got your own little Kovu there." Simba said and smiled. "I'm so glad you're here, Jack! You will see our first Halloween party! We're just waiting for our warlock to show up." Kiara said and was visibly excited. "Our warlock? I thought we were waiting for Rafiki." "Dad, what does sound more halloweenish. Warlock or ape?" "Good point."
Some minutes later Rafiki finally arrived with all the stuff he needed for his ritual. "Hello everyone, Rafikis on the rock!" "Hey Rafiki, nice to see you again!" Simba said and sit down. "So, who's ready for summoning some demons?!" Rafiki screamed and laughed like crazy. "No! We said ghosts or spirits, no actual demons!" Kiara said while running towards him. "No..evil..demons?" "No!" "Oh...maybe a little one?" "No, just some ghosts or spirits!" "And I was so excited..." Rafiki sighed and lowered his head. "Wait, summoning?" said Simba to himself and looked to Rafiki. "Okay then. Let's summon some ghosts or spirits! Or both!" Rafiki screamed and started his ritual. "Kiara, what is going on?" "Don't worry dad, I asked Rafiki to summon some spooky creatures for the atmosphere." She said and stared at the spectacular magic around Rafiki. A lot of fog came up while he was casting his spiritual spell. "Go get my brief case with the sweets, Jason! I feel like this will be the best Halloween I've ever had!" "You got a brief case, Jack?" "This is still business, little guy." Jack said and tapped his head. "I can feel the spirits! They are coming!" Rafiki shouted and laughed. The mystical fog around Rafiki started forming two creatures. "Look dad, the spirits are coming to life!" Kiara said and smiled all over her face. "Yes...are these two lions?" Simba asked and tried to identify the spirits. "It's done. Welcome our spiritually friends, please tell us our names!" Rafiki said and looked from behind of them. "Oh I think Simba will remember my name, don't you?" A lion with a scar on his left eye said and smiled.
"Rafiki did you just summoned Scar after I told you not to summon demons?" He said and bared his teeth. "Don't talk like that to our King, Simba! This time there is no one who would betray me!" The other lion said and started laughing. "Zira, too?! The diddly is wrong with you Rafiki?!" "I...I didn't know...they are probably just the strongest spirits out there." "What about the great kings?! My father maybe?" Simba said desperately when Scar suddenly started laughing. "Oh and Simba, Mufasa told me that story about you and Nala when.." "That's enough!" Simba roared and started running towards Scar. "Let me handle that, I haveve been waiting for this for years." Zira said and swiped with her claws through the air that shot a huge energywave in Simbas direction. "Daddy!" Kiara screamed while Simba crashed into the pride rock. "Jason." "Y-yes?" "Brief case. Now." Jason nodded and ran to get Jacks brief case. "Here!" "Thank you." Jack said and grabbed something out of it. "Simba!" he shouted and used a potion on him. Simba recovered instantly and stood up. "Thanks, Jack!" Simba answered and looked at Scar & Zira. "I can't deal like this with their spiritual power. I need some time to think." He said to himself. Meanwhile Zira discovered Kovu and smiled. "Look who's there, Scar. Our little traitor. Do you still think it was a good idea to betray me?!" "Yes Zira..this is the place I belong to!" "No it's not!" Simba screamed while walking slowly back to Jack and the others. "What is it, Simba? Do you wanna give us Kovu back?" "Yes." "What, really?" "Yes, take him." "No. No, we don't want him!" "Me neither!" Kovu lowered his head more and more with every word they said. "Anyway, we need a plan to defeat them." Simba said and looked to the rest of his group. Jack took some steps forward and looked at Scar and Zira. "Let me do this, Simba." He said. Simba took some steps backwards and was wondering what he wanted to do. "Sora!" He screamed and stopped. No one made a noise for a moment. "Did you just tried to use your limit move?" "Oh, right. I need Sora to do it." "I would have already done it, if I could do my limit move without him!" Simba angrily said to Jack. "Let's make this a little bit more interesting."
Zira said and started to summon dead hyenas that came out of the ground. "She's summoning gouls!" "Actually these are zombies, Kovu!" Rafiki screamed from far away. Venx was surprised that zombie wasn't a keyword, then he continued the story. "We have very little time, any ideas?" "Did you ever try to use your limit with someone else than Sora?" Jack asked. "No, did you?" "I didn't really try it, but when I was dancing with Sally I accidentally destroyed everything around us. Looks like we need just another partner." "Perfect! Let's do my limit move." "Yours?" "Oh boy..." Kiara said and facepawed herself. "We have no time, so let's combine them." "Okay, I'm ready." "What should we call it?" "What?" "We need a cool name for our attack." "You sure that's important, Simba?" "Of course! I don't want to rescue us with a lame attack like 'the Kovu-Canon'" "That's enough!" Kovu stepped between them and looked angry at Simba. "Since I came here, you treat me like a punchingball! Maybe you're scared of me.." "No." "But I am younger and stronger than you!" "No." "So stop making fun of me! I'm a real lion!" "Okay, go buy us some time." "What?" "Kovu, this your chance. Buy us some time and I won't make fun of you again. For the rest of the day." "No, Simba! Forever!" "10 Minutes." "For the rest of the day, okay!" Kovu said and walked in front of Zira and Scar. "Kovu, are you trying to be the first one who gets eaten by our army?" "I'm not scared of any of your ghastly hyenas!" Scar started laughing for a moment before he looked Kovu in the eyes. "You heared him hyenas." Kovu trembled, but was resolved to stay. "Go kill hi.." "Stop!" He screamed that every bird within fifty meters flew away. Everyone was stunned and looking at him. Kovu slowly opened his mouth. "Kaaaaaaaaa-meeeeeeee." Scar and Zira were still looking and waiting for something. "I knew he would ruin it." "They are stunned so it doesn't matter how stupid his move is. Now let us do the Dance Cat!" "Dance Cat? Sounds wrong." "Whatelse, Wild Call?" "We don't have to mix our limitnames, let's go with something new." "Haaaaaa-meeeeee." "We're running out of time!" Jack said and looked frustrated at Simba who was still thinking about a good name for their special limit move. "I got one. Follow me!" Simba said and ran towards the enemies. "That goes on for way too long. What have you done with him?" Scar asked Zira. "He never did that before, ehm...it's Simbas fault! Everything is Simbas fau.." "Deez nuts!" Kovu screamed and took a deep breath. Scar, Zira and the hyenas were all looking at Kovu and had no idea what was going on. "That's enough! Go kill him!" Zira ordered and pointed her paw at Kovu. He was paralyzed and couldn't move, but then Simba and Jack jumped in front of him. "Simba!" "Jack!" Simba roared and Jack summoned fire around him. "No-Sora- double-fire-roar-by Simba all rights reserved!" "I'm not cool with that." "Just do your thing." Simba shouted and ran with Jack into the zombies. "It was all a trick! Kovu tricked us!" Zira said and watched her army getting slaughtered by her enemies.
"I won't lose again, Simba!" Scar said and tried to follow Simba with his eyes, but was to slow. "Scar, behind you!" Zira screamed and tried to help him. Scar turned himself, but could only see Simba coming towards him really fast. "I will gore you for laughing about my first time with Nala!" "Not agaaa.......!" Simba pierced him with his full body and landed behind him. "At least she wanted me." He said quietly and smiled. "No! No, not again!....Scar!" Zira collapsed and looked at the ground. "It's over Zira, give up and vanish again." Simba said while walking to her. "You...you monster!" "Yes, I am the monster." "You will pay for this!" A huge howl came from Zira and increased her power. "Let's do the move again, Jack." "I'm in." Both were running towards Zira who stood between her dead hyenas. Jack jumped first with his flames on her, but she discharged a large amout of darkness that thew Jack over the pride rock. "No!" Simba screamed and stopped. "Maybe anger wasn't the right source to get power from when I was alive, but now that I'm not more than a mystic creature, it makes me untouchable!" Zira laughed and targeted Simba for her next attack. He had no idea what to do, he was the only one left and Zira was way too strong. "Don't give up, Simba." The clouds were gathering and Mufasa appeared above Simba. "Dad?!" "I will help you defeat Zira. We both know that you have problems when it comes to the girls, haha." "Not now!" Simba said angrily and started baring his teeth at Zira. "Mufasa! You really think you are strong enough to beat me!" "Yes, but for my sons ego I will just help him do the work. Go Simba, get ready." Mufasa said and charged energy. Simba closed his eyes and charged energy inside him. "Don't think I'll give you that time!" Zira screamed and shot a giant laserblast out of her mouth at Simba. "I'm ready, dad!" "Okay, let's go. Father-Son-Roar!" Mufasa and Simba were roaring at once and pushing against Ziras Blast. Everyone was watching the fight and trying to send Simba some power. Jack came back to the rest and pat some dust from his shoulders. "Thanks for the help guys. I mean I'm already a skeleton, why should you help me? I don't have any blood to lose, so I can't feel pain. Is that your logic? Assholes." "But master Jack..." "Shut up Jason no one likes you." Jack said and joined watching the fight with crossed arms. The energywaves were quietly equal, but Ziras was getting stronger and stronger that Simbas roar was slowly going back. "Dad is losing! Mom, do something!" "But I can't fight him with, Kiara. What can I....Mufasa!" Mufasas left eye looked down to Nala and signaled that he's listening. "When I met Simba years after your death, he tought he would fight a foreign lion. He tried to save his friends from him, but I still won the fight with my female paws!" Mufasa started cackling a bit what pushed his roar a bit. "And when we made Kiara, he told me I shouldn't be too rough!"He started laughing even more what made his roar equal to Ziras. "I asked him why and he said he made his mane and doesn't want it to be ruined after all the hard work on the river!" Now Mufasa laughed so hard that their roar pushed Ziras attack completly back and burned Zira until she vanished. "That is impossi.......bly emberassing what Nala just said. Aaaaah!" She screamed before vanishing in a cloud of smoke. Simba was breathing exhausted and tried to stay on his feet. "Mom, you rescued us all!" "Thanks Nala, that was amazing!" Simba heared how everyone thanked Nala and saw how only Jack came down. "I don't like your family." "Me neither, but Nala is hot." "Oh yes." "What?" "Nothing. Come, I'll help you get up the pride rock." Jack said and pushed Simba upwards, so that he wouldn't fall down. Rafiki ran up to the rest and cheered: "That was awesome Simba! You showed these monsters what a real king is made of!" "Rafiki, I swear to my father, I will pull your brain out if you try to summon anything again. I don't care what it is, in the end it's something that wants to kill us anyway!" Simba roared at Rafiki. "By the way, where is Mufasa?" Rafiki asked. "I think he vanished instantly after defeating Zira, because he couldn't stop laughing." Nala said, realzing how Simbas mood just got worse. "Kiara?" "Yes, dad?" "Go and have fun with the others. I want you to have the best Halloween party ever." "Re..really? Thanks, dad." She said and smiled at him. "Yes, because this was your diddlying last Halloween you ever had until I die. I'm tired of this bullshit. Now come into the cave Nala , I want Dad to never make these jokes again." He said and walked straight into the cave. "Do you..really wanna miss the party, mum?" "Trust me, it's better for everyone when I'm following him. He's better when he's angry, tho. Have fun, Kiara!" She answered and ran to Simba. Kiara sighed and looked at Kovu. "But you will stay, right?" "I'll always stay, Kiara. Don't worry." She smiled at him and kissed Kovu with the nose. "Are you okay Jack? Oh yes, I'm fine. Thanks for asking. No problem, we always ask. I mean we're not a bunch of assholes. Oh no, not you!" Jack said sarcasticly to himself and went to his brief case. "Hey Kiara, here are some sweets and an orange."
"We...are lions. We don't eat candy...we eat...meat." "Okay, this was the last time I tried to bring Halloween to another world. It just doesn't work! Now I understand what Sandy Clause was talking about. It just doesn't work. Let's get back to Dr. Finklestein, Jason." "Doctor who?" "You know what? Just make me a screwdriver when we're home. I need to forget all of this." Jack said to Jason and walked away with him. The rest of the evening was like a date for Kovu and Kiara. Rafiki couldn't do anything anymore, the other lions were sleeping and Simba was doing...something. "I think, that was pretty good for a first Halloween, Kiara." "Haha, yes. Kinda, I guess." "Too bad your father doesn't want you to make another party next year. Maybe Christmas would be an idea!" "I don't want another one. It was a really exciting day, thanks for everything Kovu. See you tomorrow." She said and walked to her place to sleep. Kovu was happy, more happy than the last days and went up to the tip of the pride rock. "She really loves me..." He thought to himself and looked at the sky. "Still awake?" Simba asked while walking next to him. "Oh, Simba. Yes, Kiara just went to sleep. I thought you were..." "I'm done and Nala, too. Like never before." He interrupted him while smiling. "Oh, great." "Kovu?" "Eh, yes?" "I really appreciate your help today, thank you Kovu." "Really? I mean..thanks Simba." he said happily but careful. "Do you see the stars?" "Yes, every one of them was once king of the pride lands, right?" "You're right and can you read what they're saying?" "Ehm, no. What do they say?" "They are telling us that the day is over and we entered a new one." "Good to kno....." "I've heared your 'Christmas'-Idea." Kovu swallowed and sweated. "A-and what do you think of..." While talking, Kovu got slapped down from the pride rock. "Go paw yourself, Kovu!" Simba roared through the whole pride lands and let everyone know that Kovu can go paw himself.

The original plan was to write out a small silly story. It would have seen one of my favorite characters, Crystal, going to see a magic show with her best friend Zoey. During the show, Crystal would reluctantly be randomly chosen as an assistant where the magician would comment on how well she had played the piano in an earlier show. He would then do some silly incantation and present her with a keyboard, telling her to play once again. She would fumble with the keys as if her talent had been sapped and he would step in, playing with her musical prowess. He would return her talent and the show would end, but she would return and confront him, confused. The magician would show her his props and such most of which emit a strange supernatural feel and a small accident would lead to them having a small paranormal adventure. It wasn't intended to be 'scary' and instead more 'spooky,' like a Halloween special of a cartoon. That was my original plan before I remembered another story that would fit much better.
A woman was pregnant with her second child and the parents were delighted at the prospect of having a second newborn. They had received many toys, clothes, and gifts from their friends in anticipation for their son and already had a crib ready in their room despite them not expecting the child for another few months. They were eager and excited, and having been largely religious people, they visited the church in order to pray for happiness and good fortune in the future. As was common practice for the family, many members of the family reached out and congratulated the parents, giving their blessings. Things looked bright for the family, however the nights were filled with soft concern. The child would often kick in the middle of the night, much more fiercely than during the day which caused the mother with worry. One night it caused her so much pain she could hardly bear it and they rushed to the hospital. The doctors could find no reasoning for the disturbances and wrote it off as an overactive baby. They could do little but send her home and thankfully the baby did not cause any more pain the following week which brought calmness to the parents, who believed the worst was over. This would not last, however, as once more the mother woke up in an agonizing pain at three in the morning. More than that however, she was shrouded in an overwhelming sense of fear and dread. Her husband woke and held her close but he too could feel the darkness weighing down on them as if demons watched over them. They whispered the Lord's Prayer in desperation:
Padre nuestro,Word for word, the darkness slowly lifted from them as dawn began to break. They were uncertain if their prayers were heard or if they had simply imagined the occurrence, but as soon as they dressed, the family went back to the church. They explained to the priest what had transpired and he nodded slowly with every sentence. He suggested entering the home and they graciously agreed. Once there he sprinkled holy water at the doorway as he held a thurible on a silver chain. The small urn let out the smell of the burning incense as he purified each room with a worried expression. He went room to room with one hand spraying holy water and the other tightly gripping the silver chain until he was finally done. He gave the parents a smile and told them there was no longer anything to worry about. Sure enough, they spent the rest of the nights in peace and the child was born with no problems.
que estás en el cielo,
santificado sea tu Nombre;
venga a nosotros tu reino;
hágase tu voluntad
en la tierra como en el cielo.
Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día;
perdona nuestras ofensas,
como también nosotros perdonamos
a los que nos ofenden;
no nos dejes caer en la tentación,
y líbranos del mal. Amén.
A healthy baby boy. They felt blessed. Gone were the nights filled with cold sweats and pain filled moons, instead replaced with the love of a family. Until one morning, the toddler at the age of three cried out as he played with his toys in his room. They had an easy line of sight of him as he played and saw him peer under his bed in curiosity before crying out a deathly scream. They described it as the yell one would let out when faced with an unspeakable evil and indeed not one a child would let loose carelessly. The parents frantically ran into the room and scooped up their child before inspecting the underside of the bed, however they saw nothing as the child clung to his mother. That night was sleepless as the child whimpered and cried, unable to forget whatever scene he had witnessed below his covers. This also led to cowardly tendencies: things that once interested and caught the child's attention now forced him to seek his mother and father, filled with fear. Night after night the child was restless, and once again the family decided to seek the aide of the church. The child was blessed, the priest drawing holy water on his forehead in the shape of a cross. The following nights were filled with well needed rest and tranquility, though the parents remained weary of what had happened.
It wouldn't be until years later that the child would finally break free from the cowardice he had fallen into and he finally began to be ever slightly bold: playing games with other children and climbing trees. He was 14 when he and his mother moved out of state, the father staying behind for a year before vowing to follow them. They headed mid-west and though the months stretched on lazily, something odd happened. The child—now a teenager—drank deeply from a mug of soda when he noted a design etched in the inside of the porcelain mug. He thought nothing of it, regarding it as a trick of his imagination until he finally finished the drink. The design he thought he imagined was not very notable and featured an oval frame with the outline of a woman's face, looking downwards and to the side. The majority of the woman was covered by her hair and only one of her eyes was visible. The teen froze as he stared at the image. It almost looked as if she was smiling peacefully and he couldn't help but remember stories where people saw The Virgin Mary on pieces of toast. This, however, was not the Virgin Mary. He was not familiar with the stories of the bible, but it was not a face he recognized. Shakily, he showed the image to his mother who took the mug, mystified. She, too, did not recognize the figure. They kept the mug safe and she urged her son to not dwell on the image, saying it was nothing to worry himself over. He tried his best to agree but as he lay himself to sleep that night, he heard noises off in the corner of his room. Terrified, he jolted upwards and flicked on the light, but saw nothing. He thought his mind was playing tricks on him and again attempted to fall asleep, but was again roused by a small scratching noise. Instead of facing the strange noise head on, the teen once again raced to his mother's side. Together they searched his room but found nothing and instead she told him to sleep in her bed. He agreed but it wasn't long until once again, the soft scratching noise announced itself in the corner of her room. She too, heard the noise and they searched the room. Once more the scratching noise was heard, though this time the lights were on and they managed to locate the sound, coming from a paper bag. The mother peered inside and revealed a small insect: a grasshopper or locust as it tried to escape. After disposing of the bug, the night was silent and sleep was easy to find.
That was the last of any kind of 'occurrence' that's happened to me so far. I am not a religious person: I'm not sure if there is a god or angels, the devil or demons, I'm not even sure how true the first part of this story is. I vaguely remember getting frightened as a child at something under my bed, but it's all a blur. Other things I didn't really mention included my older sister seeing a ghost in our first house as she slept, my other sister somehow finding a bat locked in her bathroom, my brother waking in the night with a cold sweat as he heard banging noises, and one of my toys turning itself on in the middle of the night with no explanation. I don't know if anything supernatural has actually happened, but I do know that mug I drank from carved out an image of a woman with dark red drink, almost the same color as red wine. I still have that mug, image and all, in the back of the pantry. I even took a picture of it.

Does this mean I'm being haunted? I don't know. I really doubt it but there are a few things that happened that I can't explain. It's true that I was a somewhat adventurous child until I 'screamed out' at whatever I saw under the bed, and I was definitely a chicken growing up because of it. In fact I still feel that sting, unwilling to watch most horror movies unless other coax me into it or wanting to follow along into horror themed parks. But does that have to do with whatever I saw? Who's to say, maybe I'm just a natural coward? Either way I don't know if I'm being followed by supernatural occurrences but because it has been well over six years since the last incident, I highly doubt I am. Either that or I'm well overdue for another visit.
