Kairi has been particularly starved of whimsy since KH1. It's odd to go between that iteration and her current iteration with how little they have in common. She's almost stoic, she doesn't have a single scene where she displays any sort of intense personal emotion in the third game. She gets *mad* in MelMem, which is nice, but it's weird to establish her as a jokester and then peel that away from her.
Putting her with D&G reopens the door to those dormant character traits, while having her travel with Aqua... lol

I’m all for Minnie joining up, but I think having both her and Daisy feels a bit on the nose. Like “SDG, but make them girls.”
I’d rather inject another character with Kairi and Minnie that would make the trio feel more dynamic. Heck, even putting Minnie and Donald with Kairi while Daisy and Goofy with Sora/Riku could mix things up in a more interesting way.
Also, I think one of them needs to stay and protect Disney Castle. It’ll never happen, but I’d love a subplot where Daisy stays behind, but later in the game we find out that she has corrupted Disney Castle and twisted it to darkness. Come to find out, she is really Magica de Spell in disguise and has locked away the real Daisy. Lol

Yeah, Kairi doesn't really have a memorable personality to speak of after KH1.
my headcanon likes to see Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles as Kairi's partners.
since Donald and Goofy are in the underworld looking for Sora, Yensid calls up two of Donald's old friends back when he was a mage in training.
Jose would replace Goofy, using his umbrella as both a staff and shield. also, since he's an expert in culture, would use his magic to change the party's outfits and forms to fit in better in each world they visit.
Panchito would be a gun mage, using his pistols that use magic use ammo. he's the kind of guy who's up for a fight, but unlike Donald he's more level headed.

Really, at this point, all I’m hoping for is that it gets re-revealed, like, at all. Three years of radio silence has made me go internally insane.

I just thought of another thing for Aqua; considering she’s training Kairi, I was thinking that training could be translated to in-game tutorials, alongside story interludes. That way, the two can spend time together while leaving the main journey for Kairi to travel with Donald and Goofy.

I mean, she's had Merlin as a teacher for that & now Aqua. Not sure what else Minnie can teach her on the magic front.
having Kairi be more physically fragile than Sora while also having better gap closers and mobility would unironically make her more fun than Sora
